It is very different from the normal league of films. This film is based on adoption of those infants who are left alone by their parents due to various reasons. It is a story of such kids who spent their lives in ashrams and grow up with people who they understand to be their parents. The film has various emotions along with being a very fun filled one. It is a very beautiful message that the film is giving to its audiences.

* In this film you have worked with stars like padmini kolhapure and ayub khan along with Vikram Gokhale, Reema, and Arun Nalawade and Vinod singh. The story is about how this young and innocent girl copes up with all the circumstances that she is put in. The character of Rucha is very strong by itself. Tenali Rama Krishna, one of the Astadiggajas of Sri Krishna Deva Raya wrote 'Panduranga Mahatyam' taking the gist from Skanda Purana. Kamalakara Kameshwara Rao directed the film 'Panduranga Mahatyam' in the production of Trivikrama Rao in 1957, taking Pundareeka Vriththantham from Tenali Ramakrishna's 'Panduranga Mahatyam'. Now the same was remade as 'Pandurangadu' adding new colors in tune with the taste of contemporary audiences. Let us see how it went on:

Story:
It is the story of Pundareeka (Balakrishna) who leads a flirting life and neglects his parents (K Vishwanath and Shiva Parvathi) as well as wife Lakshmi (Sneha). In his lusty hangover he also kicks out all his family members.

He falls in the trap of a crooked prostitute Amrutha (Tabu) and loses everything. She betrays him along with her mother (Y Viajaya) and grabs his property.

He then also tries to enjoy the river goddesses Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswathi due to his lust. He tries to kick a saint (Mohan Babu) with his leg but gets paralyses stroke. He then realizes that his paralysis is due to his sins. He gets repentance and becomes a devotee of Lord Krishna.

He goes back to his parents and serves them. His wife Lakshmi and finally he himself get salvation because of his bhakthi.

Performances:
Balakrishna looked best in Lord Krishna's role. He appeared like Nata Rathna NTR in many frames in Lord Krishna's get up. His color on his body was very dark in some scenes but on a whole that is not disturbing any way. His role as Pundareeka in negative shades also grooved well. He must be appreciated for picking up this role.

Sneha is the right option to play the role of Pundareeka's wife. She rightly performed in her role.

Tabu is the glamour element in the film and she didn't hesitate to portray with all of her oomph factor. But she has 'shown' more in some scenes where there is no necessity. K Raghavendra Rao's magic is seen again on silver screen. Using the elements like fruits, milk and flowers for bringing in erotic appeal is known only for KRR.

K Vishwanath is apt in father's role. Mohan Babu although appeared for a brief time, there is a purpose for his role.

JK Bharavi's dialogues are ok. But crossed limits in some scenes and lacked in required depth in others.

K Raghavendra Rao's efforts are rightly spread on screen. He has shown newness in many things. He has even shown the temples in Combodia for songs in dream sequences. Although not in the degree of Sri Ramadasu or Annamayya, he could bring in devotional depth in this theme as well, especially in climax.

Best Things:
Music plays best role in entire film. Lyrics are also aptly written and pictured in very sensible way-although the song 'Kosala Desapu..' is too erotic.

Lord Krishna's 'Vishwa Roopam' scene certainly deserves great mention. That's splendid and marvelous.

Mohan Babu's role, although short has made his presence felt in right manner. The film stepped into right tempo since his entrance.

The message 'parents are more than the Lord God' is rightly conveyed which is a must for people at this juncture. The scene where Pundareeka asks Lord Krishna to wait outside for him until he completes his 'seva' for his father is really wonderful.

'Critic'al Aspects:
Sneha's initiative to marry Ranga (Pundareeka) by showing her over-activeness in front of his house is something that's not in right sync with the tempo

Sunil's comedy with hairy get up is also nasty that kicks out audiences from getting immersed into the theme

In a scene Tabu dances in emotion by applying vermilion to her face. Audiences have shouted 'laka laka laka..' at that time. When the scene is composed with emotion which is more than required, the result will be that.

The scene of Lord Krishna showing Brindavanam to Pundareeka is made with not so convincing graphics. Director would have looked into something spiritual with meaningful analysis for 'Krishna Tatwam' in stead of that.

Although the questions regarding 16000 gopikas and 8 wives of Lord Krishna have risen in the film, they weren't answered in right 'taatwik way'. Writers of JK Bharavi's standard must be able to bring the gist of Krishna Tatwam in that scene. That was not rightly utilized as the answer given by Lord Krishna is very normal.

Some dialogues have crossed the line- 'naavi pettudu pallu neevu pettudu………." (Brahmanandam's dialogue with Y Vijaya). As the right patrons for this film are family audiences, dialogues of that sort would disturb a little. Kids should watch mythological and devotional films to learn the essence of bhakthi and tatwa but not the meaning of these mundane dialogues.

What happened to prostitute Amrutha and her mother? Why those villains weren't shown again? Balancing act hasn't happened by not putting an end to those villains.

Analysis:
The films of this sort should come again and again. They should teach the essence of Indian culture, bhakti and traditions. Film makers also should focus more on such subjects.

'Pandurangadu' is definitely the subject that has elements to make a commercial film. The subject has ample rakthi along with bhakti. Both these bhakti and rakhti should overlap in right manner. But that didn't happen here. Only in the second half (especially from the appearance of Mohan Babu's role), the spirit of the film is underlined. Last 30 minutes has enough of devotional fervor.

The film could have been better if the scenes in first half were composed with more conviction. To sum up, this film is a must watch for all those who wish to know the essence of bhakthi and value of parents.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-67540420969332169322008-05-30T21:31:00.001+05:302008-05-30T21:31:55.607+05:30Beware PTO breaks the NRI Bridge for Chiru Train
*********************************************************************************

Beware PTO breaks the NRI Bridge for Chiru Train

Till date no one dreamt about an organization being such opportunistic. He had struggled really hard holding four portfolios as director, story writer, screenplay and dialogue writer. He also penned a song in the film and thus played the fifth role as lyricist as well. And for NTR this film is second one after his changed physique. After the socio-fantasy 'Yamadonga' he came up with this action packed revenge formula. After making dud like 'Sainikudu' and average runner like 'Chirutha' Ashwini Dutt came up with this flick. How far all of these marveled with this film? Let us peep into the story.

Story:
An interestingly woven plot, the movie begins with the story of how Pothuraju (Prakash Raj) becomes P R, the international don and is known for his nefarious connections and illegal dealings. He is supported at every step by Seshu (Ashish Vidyarthi) and both of them become kings in their field. On the other hand, there is Kranti (NTR) an orphan who is the life of his orphanage and takes care of all their needs. A deal of PR's gang requires few young men and coincidentally Kantri gets into the loop, he wins the confidence of PR with his fast thinking and becomes a 'Kantri' for the wrong people.

He sees Varalakshmi (Hansika) during one of his activities and falls for her at the first sight. Love happens between them and things life looks much better for Kranthi, but then a small issue becomes big and Kranthi separates from PR's gang and takes money from Das (Sayaji Shinde) to kill PR. Before he gets to kill PR, he is told that PR is actually his father. The hatred becomes attachment and in this process Priya (Tanishaa) daughter of Seshu who comes from New York sees Kranthi and falls in love with him. However, some incidents happen and differences rise between PR and Seshu also.

How Kranthi puts an end to all this and clears the confusion forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Jr NTR's performance is marvelous in the film. His voice appeared to have gained base better than before. His diction is also maintained in moderate way without big shouts and yells. Thus he was stylized with this film. And the aspect that deserves high encomiums is his dance. Many steps are far better than that of 'nachore' song from Yamadonga.

Hansika is soft and supple for eyes while Tanisha is for glamour quotient on screen. The role of Tanisha is very short and she couldn't make bigger appeal anyway. Hansika has some role to play but majority of her role goes with bubbly acts but no big histrionics.

Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi and Murali Sharma have added glory for film with their villainy roles. Subba Raju has got some sensible lengthy character in the film. He seems to be a competition for other upcoming and struggling villain Ajay now.

Comedy by Sunil and Brahmanandam is very inferior and artificial. Krishna Bhagawan and Ali could spill laughs in better way.

Music by Mani Sharma is an average show; There are no haunting tunes to take home. The Kantri title song sung by NTR is dominated by sound and music.

Cinematography, choreography and editing are up to perfection and Meher Ramesh's hard work is impressive. He would have worked more on spreading comedy in the film in better way.

Highlights:
There are a few notable things to mention in the film:

Ali's Chinese comedy

Krishna Bhagawan's Singapore comedy

NTR's dialogue on cycle

NTR's dances for two songs and the one with classical touch

Prakash Raj's villainy

And last but not least, dedicating the film to Sobhan Babu.

Analysis:
The film starts with flashback montages along with titles simultaneously. The high-pace action scenes mixed up with a sentiment in disguise makes the film a pleasant entertainer. Had the comedy been added more, the film would have been the best entertainer. Meher Ramesh, the captain of the film struggled really hard and that is seen in many ways.

Climax appeared to have dragged a lot. But there is no way left for the director as he wanted to establish several things and conclude only in the climax. Entire film has maintained enough of interest quotient and necessary twists and turns are incorporated. Climax twist is something interesting and experimenting.

First half of the film is with comedy while the second half is with sentiment and action dose. Although the film appears to be an adoption from other old sentimental-formula films, finally it concludes as revenge plot.
The film is for mass cum class audiences. Technically the film stands on the summit. Leaving the length part and less-comedy part aside, the film is a well-made one.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-46241560619960848242008-05-10T14:32:00.001+05:302008-05-10T14:34:06.360+05:30'Kantri' Review: An Action-Revenge Entertainer

Film: Kantri
Banner: Vyjayanthi Movies
Cast: NTR, Hansika Motwani, Tanisha, Prakash Raj, Subba Raju, Raghu Babu, Kota, Ashish Vidyarthi, Apoorva etc
Music: Mani Sharma
Editing: Marthand K Venkatesh
Stunts: Stun Shiva
Cinematography: Sameer Reddy
Story, Screenplay, Dialogue, Direction: Meher Ramesh
Producer: C Ashwini Dutt
Released on: 9th May 2008

This is the first Telugu film for director Meher Ramesh. Adding to that he reserves Nizam rights of his films with him as the collections will be very strong. So he has great fan following in Telengana region too. If the things move on according to second SRC, there would be scope for materializing separate Telangana. That becomes a big chance for Chiru to make his hold in both the states!! For that he needs to come into alliance with KCR.

Now the assumptions are making rounds that Chiranjeevi would carry some interesting decisions along with KCR with respect to capturing Telangana region votes in coming elections. On the other hand he has to assemble his team to hit the mission with broader vision. As the elections are coming up in less than 15 months, it is high time for Chiranjeevi to make up his team and work accordingly. Otherwise he may miss the bus, sorry the train as said by Allu Aravind.

Let us see what happens.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-66539341651331753102008-01-10T16:40:00.000+05:302008-01-10T16:41:46.278+05:30'Yama Donga' Getting Dubbed Into Tamil?

Sourecs say that the film 'Yamadonga' that turned a hit in AP is going to release in Tamilnadu as well as per a gossip. But the Yama sentiment is in big way in Telugu but not in Tamilnadu. NTR is in fact familiar for Tamilians as his film 'Naa Alludu' was released with the title 'Madurai Maappila'. The film was in fact a flop there as well.

Adding to that the funniest part is that the film 'Takkari' is also going to be dubbed into Tamil as per inside sources. It is funny because it was copied from 'Tiruvalaiyadal Arambam', a hit Tamil flick. Nithin is also known for Tamilians with the film 'Kazhugu', a dubbed version of 'Sye'. Now he may be seen again with dubbed Takkari as per grapevine.

We have to see how this dubbings work at Tamil box offices.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-17888699394708849532008-01-10T16:39:00.000+05:302008-01-10T16:40:07.095+05:30Deepika favourite for lead role in 'Robot'

After a dream debut with Bollywood 'Badshaah' Shah Rukh Khan in 'Om Shanti Om', Deepika Padukone appears set to storm the south with a possible role opposite Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in the big-budget film "Robot".

Padukone's name is "on the top of the list of contenders for heroine" in the Rs 100-crore venture by director Shankar, sources in the film production unit here said.

Shankar, who directed last year's runaway hit "Sivaji - The Boss" also starring Rajinikanth, has already teamed up with the style icon and renowned music composer A R Rehman.

The 22-year-old model-turned-actress has received the Star Screen award for "most promising newcomer" and Stardust "Superstar of Tomorrow"" award.

Going by the mantra that actresses make a dent in Kollywood after starring opposite Rajinikanth or Kamal Hassan, the media began the buzz about Deepika acting in "Robot".

The speculation earlier was that Shah Rukh Khan would play the lead in the the film, to be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, before Shankar succeeded in getting the Tamil matinee idol to agree.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-8400914926046508302008-01-10T16:38:00.000+05:302008-01-10T16:39:03.558+05:30Nostalgic 'Happy Days' number one in Telugu cinema

Hyderabad (IANS) "Happy Days" continues to be the top film as it completes 100 days - an incredible feat for a film sans stars. The list of top films is pretty much the same as in the last fortnight.

The top five Telugu films are:

1. "Happy Days" - This film is cruising merrily at the box office. Made without any big stars, it has been able to hold its own in the face of star-studded movies like "Thulasi", "Athidhi" and "Don". Sekhar Kammula has spun a good yarn around college life. Simple, heart-warming and nostalgic "Happy Days" is a good trip down memory lane.

The seven new faces and Tamanna, who is the only one to have done movies before, have made their presence felt and are now on their way to getting a foothold in Telugu cinema. The movie has raked in a lot of moolah and ushered in Telugu film industry's corporatisation.

2. "Mantra" - The whodunit film starring Charmee and Sivaji is faring well as far as the revenues go. Although suspense thrillers and murder-mysteries are not common in Telugu films, "Mantra" and "Anasuya" have shown that this genre goes down well with the audience if the film is made well.

3. "Anasuya" - Bhumika Chawla steals the show in the title role in "Anasuya". Playing a TV journo, Bhumika displays good acting skills. She portrays the right kind of emotions in the film. Ravi Babu, who is also the director, is good as the villain. This 'edge-of-the-seat' 'noir'-like thriller directed by Ravi Babu has got critical acclaim (it's technically slick albeit a bit dark in terms of lighting) and is faring well.

4. "Don" - Nagarjuna's only release this year has been at the receiving end in terms of reviews. Reports on the film's performance are not too favourable but Nagarjuna's fans will surely keep it going. Raghava Lawrence wears many hats - as director, actor, choreographer and music composer. Perhaps this was a bit too much on the plate to do full justice. Generally, most star-studded films run for the first few weeks and perhaps the initial curiosity to see it will attract crowds. One has to see how long it runs.

5. "Thulasi" - It continues to be in the reckoning even after it crosses 50 days. Child star Atulith gives an endearing performance despite the large dose of violence. Venkatesh returns to action with the movie, which is filled with commercial elements. A stereotypical story with a lot of violence thrown in with a bit of romance, sentiments and enough songs and dances and a sizzling item number by Shriya seems to have found favour.

Nayantara is paired with Venkatesh and she dons some glamorous outfits in the first half of the movie. She has a fairly substantial role.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-24770728798948075142008-01-10T16:35:00.002+05:302008-01-10T16:37:55.133+05:30'Akash Ganga' closing in on 'Happy Days' on music charts
Hyderabad (IANS) Mickey Meyer's musical score for "Happy Days" still rocks. The title song tops the charts, like the movie. A song from "Don" is the new entrant to the list.
The top five Telugu songs are:

1. "Happy Days" - Film: "Happy Days" - This title song of has a nice symphonic feel. Mickey Meyer has scored a grand composition.

2. "Akash Ganga" - Film: "Vaana" - Karthik renders this tuneful song composed by Kamalakar. The Kannada touch is quite evident in the song as "Vaana" is the Telugu remake of Kannada film "Mungaru Male". It has a yesteryear feel in terms of melody.

3. "Maha Maha" - Film: "Mantra" - A typical Western techno number with an interesting beat, the song is sung by Madhumita and Noelsen.

4. "Intha Andanga Unnave" - Film: "Don" - Lawrence Raghavendra, who has directed, choreographed and acted in the film, wears the hat of a music director for the first time in "Don". A simple song sung by Harish Raghavendra extolling the beauty of the heroine, it's just an average composition.

5. "Nee Kallathoti" - Film: "Thulasi" - Sagar and Chitra croon this rather melodious number. Set to tune by Devisri Prasad, the song has a slow tempo and a slightly classical feel to it.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-80672538795738532462008-01-10T16:35:00.001+05:302008-01-10T16:35:46.829+05:30Mayawati's Gun Pointed Jayaprada Instead Of Chiru
Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati has spoken against film actors and actresses, because she does not know much about the film industry. Uttar Pradesh does not have a film industry of its own. All the films that are screened in Uttar Pradesh are shot in Mumbai. There's no film actor or actress worth his or her name who has settled down in Uttar Pradesh. Though film actor Amitabh Bachchan is from Allahabad, he had left the place long ago. In fact he left the place when he was a child. Moreover, Amitabh Bachchan is very close to Samajwadi Party president and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav. Incidentally Mulayam Singh Yadav is against Mayawati. So Mayawati has inherent hatred for film actors and actresses built in her.
Neither she nor the BSP requires the support of the film industry to sustain in Uttar Pradesh. The only film industry personality she is fully acquainted with is none other than Andhra Pradesh's Jayaprada. She is now the MP from Uttar Pradesh. But here too, the problem is that Jayaprada is from BSP's enemy Samajwadi Party.

Moreover, Mayawati has no stakes in Andhra Pradesh. Except for a brief political appearance now and then in Hyderabad, Mayawati has no interest in Andhra Pradesh. She came to Hyderabad for the public meeting only to keep her flocks together. She is fully aware that the BSP will never form a government at the Centre on the strength of votes it gets in Andhra Pradesh.

Political observers feel that Mayawati's statement was more directed against Jayaprada rather than Chiranjeevi. For, Jayaprada is a crowd-puller in Uttar Pradesh.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-11071482103528623292008-01-10T16:34:00.001+05:302008-01-10T16:34:48.770+05:30'Happy Days-Part 2' and '6 Teens-2' Registered
Sekhar Kammula's 'Happy Days' finished its 100 day run and now he is tightening belts to make a sequel to it. He already registered the title 'Happy Days-2' on his Amigos Banner. The interesting aspect is that the sequel phenomenon is going on in good pace in Telugu as well. Although 'Shankardada' series can be termed as sequel, that stands out to be a remade subject. The original Telugu sequel is going to be 'Happy Days'.
And parallel to it, the film '6 Teens' that bagged big success in 1999 is now going to be made as a sequel. The title was registered as 'Bangkok lo 6 Teens-Part 2' on Shantha Lakshmi Creations.

Well, getting inspired by college backdrop themes, a film 'Memu Chaduvukune Rojullo' is also registered on the banner of SV Productions and 'Student Life' on Sudarshanam Productions.

Let us see how many would come up in this genre.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-735258107857614809.post-49504178673739106802008-01-10T16:33:00.000+05:302008-01-10T16:34:01.762+05:30'Dasari Is A Venomous Snake'-Posani! Beware
Although Posani shouted loud in TV channels about his film 'Apada Mokkulavadu', he bagged more curse than sympathy, say the sources. He dragged Dasari Narayan Rao into this issue and made big news in TV channels. But industry people are saying that Dasari is like a snake!!!!

"Dasari Narayana Rao is like a venomous snake. He is very dangerous. We don't know if Snake really holds 'paga' (wish to take vengeance) but Dasari will certainly take his 'paga' on the people who turn against him. He only looks out for right time. Dasari has been keeping ANR at bay from the past 15 years without talking to him as he talked against him in an occasion. Hence while giving ANR award for Shabana Azmi recently, Dasari called for another attractive meeting for journalists. Obviously media journalists went to Dasari's meeting and didn't cover ANR award function. Dasari's intentions go that way. Posani will certainly eat his cake for keeping a tiff with Dasari", said a film personality in Film Nagar last night.

Let us see if that really turns out to be true.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1
