Table Fan for RGR and Tree Shadow for Chiranjeevi

Rao Gopal Rao sat close to table fan while Chiranjeevi was under the shadow of a tree. This incident took place during the shooting of the film 'Praanam Khareedu'.

The shooting was held at a village in East Godavari district.

That was hot mid summer. Rao Gopal Rao was a star then. He was given a cool hut and a table fan was also arranged for him. He passed time eating bajjis in shot gap.

But Chiranjeevi was under a tree and none cared for him. Who knows then that he would become a mega star?

Ankitha: 'I'm Not The Only One Exposing Feminine Assets'

Rasna baby Ankitha is known for her voluptuous appeal on screen. She has no inhibitions or hesitations in the matters of exposing. At the same time she says exposing is only a part of her profession.

See what she says:

Why Gap in films:

I'm a different type of person. I go with my conscience. If I feel like doing a course in direction, I do that. I did that in America. That's the reason for long gap in acting. I wish to become a script writer and director down the line.

As an Actress:
I like to do jolly roles like that of in the film 'Simhadri'. People ask me to do such roles. They recall me that role as top one in my career. But there is a great artiste in me. I feel like doing all kinds of roles.

New Film:
Right now I'm doing in a film on Megaa Super Good banner. Everybody knows how big the banner is. It's really a good fortune for finding a role on that banner. I'm playing a role that suits my real life as well. After this, I feel I'll be busy in Tollywood.

Looking Slimmer:
Yes, I am healthy now. I worked out a lot. Adding to that I also learnt Telugu and talking only in that.

Past Controversies:
Past is past. That's bad time. Now the good time has started. I learnt positive thinking and we can be successful only with that in Film Industry.

Item Songs:
I have no wish to do in item songs anymore. I did one with Ravi Teja and that is enough.

Exposing:
It's not only me who is showing feminine assets. You name a heroine and I say in which film she exposed. Since we are all in show business we have to show to survive.

Settlement in Hyderabad:
I love Hyderabad and hence I made it as my living place. I love the climate here. Hyderabad is close to my heart as it promised me career and the place that made me an actress.

Gossip: Ram Charan Teja Busy In Re-Shooting

The film 'Chirutha' is going for re-shoot in Thailand and that is the fresh talk in the industry. It is said that Puri Jagannath is not satisfied for a few scenes after coming back to Hyderabad and hence decided to re-shoot. Well, it's Puri himself who shot those scenes in first schedule. Then how he is not satisfied? Is he taking the path of Shankar who did the same with Rajni Kanth's 'Shivaji' for hype sake? Shankar also did the same at last saying that he is grooming a few scenes relating to climax.

But a gossip says that Puri is fascinated towards Thailand and hence he rescheduled the schedule from Hyderabad to Thailand and it is a regular shoot but not a re-shoot. Whatever be the truth the film is in the discussion of film lovers this way.

TOLLYWOOD FILM NEWS 01-06-2007

Gossip: Is Venkatesh Fit For That?
New grapevine in the industry is about Venkatesh playing the role of Swamy Vivekananada in K Raghavendra Rao's venture. Initially it was said that Sumanth will be portraying that role as Bharavi once said his intention to see him as Vivekananda and ANR as Rama Krishna Paramahamsa.

But the fresh talk is about Venkatesh portraying that title role. Will he be fit for that character? From a few months ago, Venkatesh's spiritual inclination is much talked about in Film Nagar circles. So, since his real life has spiritual philosophy, he may like and gel well on screen as well as Vivekananda.

But will Venkatesh be a right choice? Since Vivekananda is a known figure, the features should be coincided to perfection.

EVV Becomes Last Resort To Producers
Director EVV has become the only hope for the producer in doldrums.

All those who burn their fingers by putting their money in ambitious film projects are approaching EVV to cover their losses. EVV assures moderate profits. The films he directs may not be blockbusters. At the same time they will not be disasters too.

Of late the producers of 'Lakshmi Kalyanam', which has become miserable failure have met EVV and took his consent for a new film.

Same is the case with the producer of 'Veerabhadra'.

Trade Talk: New Flicks Turned Down!
Venu Madhav starred Bhukailas, directed by Shiva Nageshwara Rao was released with many hopes last week. The major plus point of the film is that it was made on the backdrop of Real Estate Boo in Hyderabad. But the narration part has gone out of the circle making the film a pale one. The openings are very big for the film but a heavy drop is observed in collections eventually. Trade analysts say that the film is going to be a flop.

'Nee Navve Chaalu' is another film that was released and suffering from collections since day-1. Lack of publicity is another factor that marred the film. Shivaji played lead role in this film.

Manoj Kumar's 'Raju Bhai' is declared to be a flop. Although the publicity is being done, the chances for this film to taste success are almost zero.

'AMAV' is still making better collections at the box office. Although 'Aata' is receiving many criticisms it is still strong at box office entertaining class audiences.

Vishnu's 'Dhee' is completing 50 days successfully and still going well.

The fresh film 'Operation Duryodhana' has got negative feedback on the first day of its release. Its trade report comes only next week.

Rajnikanth's 'Shivaji' In Political TrapIt is known news that Karunandihi is starting a new TV channel 'Kalaignar TV' in Tamil Nadu to compete with Dayanidhi Maran's 'Sun TV'. It has been a practice in Tamilnadu that Sun TV bags the satellite rights of any big film.

Maran's family is very keen on getting the rights of Shivaji and it was shocked knowing that AVM has given away the rights to Kalaignar TV for premium price. Already Sun TV is negotiating the terms with AVM for Shivaji rights.

AVM opined that the government may create disturbance for the release of the film if the rights are not sold to its channel. So, they simply ignored Sun TV and given away the rights to Kalaignar TV. But the interesting aspect is that the Kaialgnar TV is yet to be started and that is taking off only on 15th August.

So much before the release of the film and release of the channel, the sale of satellite rights is over!!

Ayesha: ‘I am open about my relationship’
Unlike her contemporaries, Ayesha Takia has no qualms about talking about her relationship. “I don’t like to hide my relationship,” she says, adding, “I think people in the industry hide their relationships because they are unsure. I have been seeing Farhan Azmi for around three years now.” “In the beginning, I didn’t tell everybody about it, for we were not sure about the future. But now that we know we will get married some day, I don’t mind talking about it. I am madly in love with Farhan and am fortunate that I met him,” says the Fool ‘N’ Final actress. She adds, “Farhan is a self made man. He began from scratch and is successful today. He values his culture and traditions. His father is a politician and he is a restaurateur. I am proud of the respect he gets for being what he is.”

How does she find time for her non-filmi boyfriend amid her shooting schedule? She says, “I meet him when I am not busy shooting. We often go out for dinners. We go to a sea facing place and spend time together. Both of us love food and like to experiment new cuisines, so it is fun to go to a new eatery each time.” So, is wedding her next step? “There’s still time for marriage,” says Ayesha and adds, “Ultimately I want to get married, be a housewife and look after my family. I want to travel a lot and maybe start a restaurant on my own.”

About her films she says, “For me, it is important to keep doing the kinds of films I like. A film like Fool ‘N’ Final, where there are 14 main characters and I don’t have a bigger role still satisfies me.” She adds, “It doesn’t matter that I am not doing 10 big banner films. I like to live my life on my terms. I am quite choosy. I take two three days to take a final decision about the film I sign. ”

Buzz: Sameera Reddy gets ‘engaged’!What do you do when the media is hell bent on 'marrying off' actresses every now and then? Well, Sameera Reddy has come to the ultimate solution. Pretend to be preparing for a marriage. Sam is becoming quite a prankster herself after mingling with all our mischievous actors.

In fact, she recently decided to pull one of her own. On one of those not so busy days, the actress began telling all her friends that her parents had found a boy for her and that she had gone ahead and got engaged. Obviously, the news created a mini riot among her friends, with all of them coming to her with shocked expressions. Good actress though she is, Sameera couldn't hold on any longer and burst out laughing, when she realised how worked up they'd all become because she'd sprung the news on them so suddenly. Obviously, her friends realised Sameera had succeeded in pulling a fast one on them.

Careful Sameera, watch out for these friends. After all, one good prank deserves another!

Shriya: 'I do not mind looking sexy but not vulgar'Dancing actor: Shriya has already worked for 22 Telugu and Tamil movies at (coincidentally) the age of 22 and will now make her debut in Bollywood with Emraan Hashmi in ‘Awaarapan’. However, Shriya’s motive was not to pursue a career in films but in dancing.

“With that intention I enrolled myself in kathak classes and received an offer to feature in a music video (‘Thirakti Kyon Hain Hawa Main’) which was shot in Benaras.” Soon after came an invitation to act in the Telugu film ‘Ishtun’ “Everything for me has come on a platter. People loved me in my first film and thereafter I kept getting more offers. I have never had to struggle to get films.”

Kissing tale: The outgoing Shriya hasn’t had the chance to experience Emraan’s kissing talent but wouldn’t have withdrawn if she would have had to. She says, “An actor has to emote well and maintain the thin line that exists between looking vulgar and looking sexy. I do not mind looking sexy but not vulgar.

If the kissing scene is presented well, there is no harm pulling it off. The same theory works while doing item numbers.”

Filmy girl: Films have always been Shriya’s passion. “I just see a lot of movies in my free time and do nothing else. I sleep, breathe, think movies. I am a total ‘filmoholic’.” To pursue a lucrative career in films, she gave up on her education. “I do regret that…but life had something else in store for me.”

After working with Rajnikant in ‘Shivaji’, Shriya now wants to dance with Hrithik Roshan and Madhuri Dixit. “Nobody can dance the way these two do. They are just fabulous!”

Suman's Career On Red Carpet From June 15th
Suman's get up as villain in the film 'Shivaji' is beyond impressive and giving positive signals in the public. Suman who was a successful hero in Telugu those days was trapped in a trouble and went far from screen for some time. After coming back, he did a few hero roles and slowly emerged as character actor.

Then he made his unique mark by portraying divine roles. Now with the initiative of director Shankar he was made a villain opposite Rajni Kanth in 'Shivaji'.

Film circles say that Suman's career graph goes to new heights after the release of the film 'Shivaji' on June 15th . We have to see how that works out.

‘Operation Duryodhana’: Operation Failure

‘Operation Duryodhana’: Operation Failure
Film: Operation Duryodhana

Rating: 2.5/5
Banner: AIM
Cast: ‘Public Star’ Srikanth, Mumaith Khan, Chalapathi Rao, Kalyani, Ramananda Teertha, Krishna Bhagawan, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav, Lakshmi Pathi, MS Narayana, Dharmavarapu etc.,
Editing: Gowtham Raju
Camera: A Raja
Action: Vijay
Music: MM Sri Lekha
Story, Screenplay, Dialogues, Direction: Posani Krishna Murali
Release Date: 31st May 2007

Confusion, inconsistency, vagueness, ambiguity, unclear…the words would go on in flow to say about this film in one word.

Story:
Mahesh (Srikanth) is a CI who works with sincerity. H never bends to any political leader and also to his bosses (!) He also batters DSP once for supporting bad politicians. Obviously the unscrupulous politicians put Mahesh in trouble. TheyPublish Post kill his family (Kalyani played wife) in a hard to believe way. They dress his wife and children with banners saying, “Muslims should quit India and live only in Pakistan” and then leave them in old city. Infuriated Muslims throw stones on that lady and children and kill them. Will people kill kids in that way without knowing who tied those banners to them? (Although it’s not convincing in the flow of screenplay, director can justify the same with the incident happened to Graham Steve and his family a few years ago!!!!).

Coming back to the story, CI Mahesh will also be battered by gundas. They think that he is dead. But he resurrects and tonsures his head and moustache. No one recognizes him in that get up. He changes his name as Bhagavanthudu, joins with a politician (Chalapathi Rao) and stays like a dog at his feet (symbolically Srikanth barks like dog to make audiences understand that he is like a dog at that politician. Is that not a height of symbolic creativity!!!!) This politician was a direct victim of the sincerity of CI Mahesh before. But he will not recognize him as he is tonsured!!!!!

Bhagavanthudu becomes MLA with the help of Ruchi Devi (Mumaith Khan) a king maker in ruling party where ministers also talk to her with fear. But the same Ruchi dances in a cabaret and entertains her party men!!! Confusion again? Yes, we are bound to that.

Finally Bhagavanthudu enlightens police, people and politicians in dramatic situations those lack conviction and material. In the climax, Bhagavanthudu resigns as MLA and joins as CI in police department again with the recommendation of Chief Minister.

That’s the outline of story.

Performances:
It’s needless to talk about performances of anyone in the film. Srikanth’s character itself is confused although there is a confession in the climax to recall that he is hero of the film.
Mumaith Khan is for glamour quotient and presents on screen only to dance for a couple of songs and get massaged with Srikanth.

Dharmavarapu, Krishna Bhagwan, MS Narayana, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav and Lakhmipathi assumed that they did comedy but that ended up as a pale show bringing headache for audiences. We cannot blame them for that but Posani is answerable.

Simply to say, Posani scissored and operated the heads of audiences without any mercy and killed their interest to watch films for a few days.

The only dialogue that is sensible in the film is asking politicians to take appointment from people to meet them and solve their problems (like Prajalavaddaku Paalana).

Analysis:
The film starts with an interesting scene where Srikanth walks nude on roads of Hyderabad. There is no proper justification for that scene. After sometime, slowly we feel that the film is taking shape something on the lines of ‘M Dharma Raju MA’. But as the film completes rolling for 20 minutes, we will come to conclusion that ‘Operation Failure-Cinema Dead’. It’s hard to sit for second half in theater. But only the professional obligations like ‘writing reviews’ would forcibly keep a few in theaters.

Just a few hours before the release of the film someone said that Srikanth’s characterization will be like that of Saif Ali Khan in ‘Omkara’. But there is no resemblance to that film and it’s completely ‘original’. Srikanth portrayed a different role in it. Considering the theme of the film, it’s completely confused and erratic. Giving an ear to music, it’s completely cacophonous. We can really wonder how Sri Lekha gave such a pitiful music. Looking at the quality of re-recording and dialogues it’s like a C grade film dubbed from Malayalam or Kannada. Coming to the screenplay and direction it’s horrible and miserable. Posani Krishna Murali intended to tell everything he has in his mind within 2 hours. He tried to gush out all current affairs as single celluloid story.

This theme shouldn’t be made a film. It would get better response if it were made into a drama and played in Ravindra Bharathi. On a whole, it sounds to be a mere stage drama and strictly far from Cinema elements. Beaten track with routine set of gundas, political rowdies…..sincere police officer….. political rowdies harming him and later the same officer taking revenge is a known formula for Telugu audiences. The film simply runs on it added with confusion in screenplay and narration.

What the director wanted to tell is vague. At times he used symbolisms which are hard to digest in commercial cinema.

The review is written this way since the director released it as commercial cinema. It would have been different if the director said that it is not for commercial release but only made under the category of parallel cinema without any desire to earn money on it. Then critics would have shown consideration by understanding the romanticism in director’s head. But since it’s released as commercial cinema, there is no other way other than analyzing on these lines.

Bottom Line: Don’t put your heads in theatre for unnecessary operation.

Row Between EVV and Kamilini Ends!
The row that has taken place between Director EVV and heroine Kamalini Mukherji is settled.

The reason behind rejecting Harish as one of her heroes in his film in progress on the banner of Rasi Movies has come out. She has no serious hatred for the hero excepting fear about her career. As Harish is almost a forgotten hero, she apprehended her stature might come down if she pairs him. Mediators, however, allayed her fears and made her apologize for cutting into the domain of the director. She was convinced that it is the director who decides who pairs whom. EVV is also pleased with the change in her. He has named the film as 'Pellaindi Kaani…'

After 'Mukkanti' It's 'Venkatadri'
Tarakarathna is now busy with the film 'Mukkanti' which is going to be a high dose action flick. After that it is said that he signed up for the film 'Venkatadri' in the direction of Samudra.

Tarakarathna decided to do only action oriented films but no more 'lover boy' roles. Well, he might have understood the trick and family tradition to find success only with 'action dose'.

It is also said that the script of Venkatadri is carved in such a way that it impresses youth audiences as well with it's mass comedy dose.

Rajasekhar Worried For Not Reaching Rs 1 Cr Mark
Dr Rajasekhar seems to be getting worried for several reasons these days. He has been in the industry for years together and also made films on his own. He bagged big fame as action her and had set his own trade mark as well. But even now his highest remuneration is not crossing Rs 50 lakh limit. Even after the success of 'Yevadaithey Nakenti', Rajasekhar is not being offered anything more than Rs 50 lakh. This is pestering him and making worried. On the other hand his juniors like Jagapathi Babu are reaching Rs 1 Crore remuneration mark followed by hits like 'Pellaina Koththalo' and 'Samanyudu'.

Recently it is said that Rajasekhar is worried for the fame that Suresh Gopi (Malayalam actor) in B, C centers of Telugu film industry with his mere dubbing flicks.

Earlier he has shown his worry on Chiranjeevi ad Balakrishna saying that they have lifted away the films to remake which he intended to buy by paying advance.

But Nisha is still behind Ramu. She is making calls to him daily and RGV is also responding to her and chatting for hours together. We have to see where it leads. Both Urmila and Antara didn't pester Ramu to this extent as Nisha is doing. It is said that the parents of Nisha are in infuriated stage with Ram Gopal Varma for trapping their daughter.

They have already hired the office and started making preparations for the film.
