Trade Talk: 'Lakshyam' On Top and Others Losing

The film 'Shankardada Zindabad' frightened many new films and hence many were postponed their releases to a few weeks. The only film that was released in this week is Malayalam dubbing 'Evadaina Sare' starring Kalabhavan Mani and Rambha. The film is originally 'Payum Puli' in Malayalam. There is no response for this film at all.
'Lakshyam' is doing really well with 70-80 percent of collections on a whole in all the centers of the state. 'Toss' is losing its grip at the box office due to over speed in narration.
'Satyabhama' also lost the grip drastically and only 20percent collections are recording.

The collections of Sivaji have fallen below 50 percent for the first time this week. The film completed 6 weeks of release.

'AMAV' is hitting 100 days mile stone this week. Still family audiences are seen in the theaters of this film.

'Lakshyam' beats 'Sivaji' to take top spot

Actor Gopichand shines in 'Lakshyam', a revenge drama.

The film got an overwhelming response at the ticket window and pushed Rajnikant-starrer 'Sivaji - the Boss' one notch down. It is enjoying the top position this fortnight and may rule the charts for sometime.

The top five Telugu films are:

1. 'Lakshyam' - A revenge drama complete with the trademark smirk and imposing physique of Gopichand, the film has become an instant hit with the audience. Land disputes, cops and journalists appear to have touched a chord with the masses.

2. 'Sivaji' - Still running to packed audiences, the success of 'Sivaji' at the box office appears unending. The viewership has now shifted to moviegoers who have watched the movie more than once. One can attribute its success to superstar Rajnikant, who has the knack to turn the ordinary into extraordinary. A fall in the list for this film, therefore, does not signify anything more than the film industry's rising production values.

3. 'Dubai Seenu' - The film moves up the list this week, with fans appreciating actor Ravi Teja who is back in form. A crowd-puller directed towards youth, the film about a young man who yearns to become rich strikes a chord with the viewers. Well-crafted action scenes and good music by Mani Sharma have helped the film chart its upward move.

4. 'Satyabhama' - Not very unlike 'Ghazni' minus the violence, the film is like a page out of Salvador Dali's surrealistic paintings. The mush interspersed with comic relief has proved to be a crowd-puller for some time now and appears to continue entertaining the lovelorn audiences.

5. 'Toss' - Priyadarshini Ram's 'Toss' has bagged the fifth spot this fortnight. Though the film boasts of an interesting plot, there is little to hold the audience's attention. Radical changes in cinematography and a new avatar for Raja do not appear to have gone down well with the masses. The movie may be well on its way out.

Mani Sharma regains top slot with 'Lakshyam'

The see-saw battle between Mani Sharma and A.R. Rahman continues. Mani Sharma is up this time, with his album for "Lakshyam" creating greater interest among the audience than Rahman's "Sivaji".

The top five Telugu albums are:

1. "Lakshyam": Mani Sharma knows more than a thing or two about scoring music for the masses, and he has done just that for this Gopichand film.

2. "Sivaji": It may take some time for the appeal of songs "Style style" and "Sahara" to wane, but the downward journey of the album on this list might have started.

2. "Dubai Seenu": Mani Sharma's "Kanya raasi" and "Seenu seenu" are still on the lips of the people. The album can hold its appeal for some more weeks in the market.

4. "Satyabhama": Chakri's album, by all accounts, is the USP of this film. The album includes the music director's own "Nee navvule" and "Karuguthunnai".

5. "Aadavari Matalaku Atthale Verule": Yuvan Shankar Raja's album, with appealing numbers like "Naa Manasuki", may stay on this list for a while.

Lakshyam Review

Punchline: senti revenge formula

Banner:Lakshmi Narasimha Productions
Cast: Gopichand, Jagapathi Babu, Anushka, Kalyani, Kota Sreenivasaa Rao, Raghubabu, Dharmavarapu, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav, Yashpal Sharma, Ashish Vidyarthi, Ahuti Prasad, Lakshmi Pathi, Chalapathi Rao, Ravibabu etc
Choreography: Raju Sundaram, Amma Rajasekhar, Suchitra
Cinematography: Seshu V Joseph
Music: Mani Sharma
Art: Vivek
Lyrics: Chandrabose, Ramajogayya Sastry
Producer: Nallamalupu Sreenu
Direction: Sreevasu
Release Date: 5th July 2007

The film has two heroes with equal stand on screen. It’s not just Gopichand but Jagapathi Babu also made his sterling presence as hero. It turned a multi-starrer that way.

Story:
Chandu (Gopichand) is a guy who is daring and dashing at the same time gives values for discipline and ethics. His brother ACP Bose (Jagapathi Babu) is sincere at work and daring at the same time. The father (Kota) of these two guys is a media reporter who works for a channel.

The family lives with peace and mutual love among its members. Indu (Anushka), the daughter of a rich man (Ahuti Prasad) falls in love with Chandu incidentally. The track goes in its style.

On the other side, Section Shankar (Yashpal Sharma), a goonda who lives on land settlements and murders gets perturbed by the sincerity of ACP Bose. Obviously he trouble him and his family. Finally what happens? Section Shankar’s people attack ACP Bose and injure him severely. Chandu attempts to save his brother. But will Bose come out from peril? Or will he die? Or will his whereabouts go unnoticed like that of Subhash Chandra Bose’s? If so, will he return back? That has to be seen on screen.

Performances:
Gopichand improved a lot in dance sequences. His trendy steps enthralled the audiences. Jagapathi Babu’s presence made the film active. He is perfectly apt as police officer on screen.
Anushka is hot and voluptuous. Even she too has shown her skill in dances in the song ‘Evadu..’
Kalyani has nothing big to play as ACP Bose’s wife.
Kota appears in groovy T Shirts and Bermuda pants (20s in 60s)
Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav spilled laughs for some time on screen. Dharmavarapu’s presence has more character than comedy.
Lyrics are below average and music is just average. But dances are composed interestingly in right tune with the body language of Gopichand and Anushka.
Last song shows Anushka in hot costumes. The song ‘Niluvave Vaalu Kanula Daana’ was remade but the picturisation is bad. It couldn’t bring the feel that has to bring.
Director Sreevasu’s attempt should be appreciated and he made it well up to his extent. But the perfection has to be learnt yet.

Analysis:
First half of the film is slow and elastic. The second half also goes that way. While comedy is interspersed in first half, second half runs seriously. Songs disturbed the tempo of narration. Climax is made good. There is some novelty in climax. The fate of this film depends on the patronage of mass audiences. Although the film is being termed as family entertainer, the majority features in this film are mass oriented.

The emotional drama and sentiment is filled in climax. Have you ever watched a ‘sentimental fight’ in recent movies? That is there in this climax.

On a whole, it is a mass oriented film that may run well only with aggressive publicity.

Sidelights:
Though there are many fresh elements in the Screenplay(Srivasu&GopiMohan) it is not gripping.Screen writers failed in maintaining the tempo.
Nothing much to say about Heroine Anushka,Music(Mani Sarma). They are just OK.
First half is balanced with Entertianment, action&family elements,Second half is an action drama and somewhat boring.Overall ga comedy takkuva.
Some songs disturbs the pace&mood of the film(especially last song)

Public talk: average
Industry talk: Target audience(Mass) ki nache cinema.length(2hrs 40minutes) taggisthe result baguntundhi.
