Director Shoban died of heart attack

Director Shoban is no more. He passed away today due to acute cardiac arrest. While he was narrating a story for his forthcoming film at his residence in Madhapur in Hyderabad, he fell with heart attack. Bhumika and her husband immediately rushed him to the Image hospital but he was dead by then. Shoban directed Mahesh Babu's "Bobby", "Varsham" and "Chanti – The Hero". He also worked with Ram Gopal Varma and Krishnavamsi. He penned dialogues for "Sindhuram" and "Murari". He was survived by wife and two children.

Sankranthi releases spaced out
This Sankranthi is witnessing the release of four Telugu films. However, these four films are spaced out in such a way that there is no clash of release dates. Okka Magaadu, Krishna, Pourudu and Vaana are going to release on 11, 12, 13 and 15 respectively. The first three films are mass films where are Vaana is a young love story. The first three films are straight films where as Vaana is a remake.

Brahmanandam sanmanam spree
It has become a mandatory and an unwritten guideline for all filmmaker to the felicitate Brahmanandam whenever they are going to face to the media. All the Telugu film production companies in which Brahmanandam is currently acting are going to felicitate Brahmanandam whenever they hold a press meet. The unit of Premabhishekam and Nee Sukhame Ne Koruthunna have already felicitated Brahmanandam. MAA team felicitated Brahmanandam when they met to release MAA diary recently. The AP Film Critics Association is also planning to felicitate Brahmanandam tomorrow.

Pawan Kalyan to leave for Bangkok
Pawan Kalyan's "Jalsa" is in the last leg of production with its balance part of the shooting is being done in Shankarapalli village in Hyderabad. Director Trivikram Srinivas is planning to picturise one song in Bangkok. So the unit might leave for the city this month end.

Ravi Teja is ready to shoot for next film
Ravi Teja's "Krishna" is hitting the marquee on January 12th on the occasion of Sankranthi. Director Vinayak who burnt hands last Sankranthi said he made this film in his style. After this release, Ravi Teja will begin for his next film that is to be produced by D Suresh Babu on Suresh Productions banner. The film begins its regular shooting on January 16. Uday Shankar who gave blockbuster "Kalisundam Raa.." is the creator behind this new film.

Anasuya sets new record in satellite rights
Thrillers are setting new records in Tollywood. Charmee's "Mantra" is a big blockbuster. Bhumika's "Anasuya" too is not lagging far behind. "Anasuya" created sensation in the sales of satellite rights. Buzz is that the film was sold for Rs 1.25 Crores which is an unheard figure for a low-budgeted movie that has no salable male star.

Srikanth's Nagaram to release in February
Manisha Koirala is joining the shoot of Srikanth starrer "Nagaram". She is turning as item bomb with this movie although she did special songs in Bollywood earlier. Manisha was paid a bomb for this film by the producers. The shooting begins next week. Director Srinivas informed the media that "Nagaram" gives unique experience to the viewers as Srikanth and Jagapathi Babu are coming together in different roles in the movie. Srikanth does an out and out mass character. Newcomer Kaveri Jha provides enough glamour. Producer told that they are planning to release it in February. Only few songs are in balance and the rest of the picturisation has been completed, he said.

Rajnikanth sings two films at a time
Tamil superstar Rajnikanth officially announced that he would be doing another film for director Shivaji. Rajnikanth signed on Shankar's dream project "Robot" and an official statement was released on Monday in this regard by the producers in Chennai. Shankar plans to make the film simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and possibly English. AR Rahman will be providing the music and it is reported that the budget is about Rs 120 Crores. Shankar plans to start its shooting in August 2008. So before that Rajnikanth wants to do another small film which is to be produced by "Chandramukhi" fame Vasu.

Teja’s Keka
Director Teja, who has introduced quite a few talented newcomers to the industry, will be launching yet another set of new faces in his upcoming production that is to be titled as Keka (Scream). The lead pair will be the winners of a talent hunt being conducted exclusively for the film. Co produced by Suresh Productions, the film is set to be launched in February while the film’s songs will be recorded in January 2008.

Tarun is director Bhaskar’s Romeo
Chocolate hero Tarun is playing the lead role in director K.Vijaya Bhaskar’s latest venture, Romeo Juliet. The very pretty and sexy Ileana is portraying the role of Tarun’s leading lady while Jagapathi Babu is tipped to be playing an important part in the film. Originally planned to star Vishnu and Genelia in the lead, the film is now being produced by Bellamkonda Suresh instead of Mohan Babu’s home production company. The film is entering the post production stage with the shooting almost coming to an end.

Krishna Bagwan’s John Apparao on 31st Jan
Comedian Krishna Bhagwan’s first main lead film, John Appa Rao 40+, co starring Simran in the lead, is all set to be released on the 31st of January 2008. In this Kuchipuddi Venkat’s film, Bhagwan is portraying the role of a fashion designer

Suhani celebrates birthday on sets
Child artist- turned-heroine Suhani, celebrated her first birthday in the film industry on the sets of her ongoing film, Sawaal. Speaking about the film and her birthday the youngster said “this is my first birthday that I am celebrating as a heroine. Though my birthday is on 25th December, I celebrate it on 26th also. I play the part of a very lively and bubbly girl in this film. I thank director Jaya for giving me this opportunity. She is like my mother in this industry. The film will be released in January”. Director Jaya was also all praise for the young lady. Producer B.A.Raju announced that the film’s audio CD is doing rocking sales.

Trisha is Nagarjuna’s leading lady
Quite satisfied with the response to his Lawrence directed Don, actor Nagarjuna has moved on to his next venture that is to be directed by Sreenu Vytla. Word has it that Trisha has been finalized to be Nagarjuna’s leading lady in this yet-to-be-titled film being produced by D.Shiva Prasad Reddy. Though Trisha has her dates packed till mid 2008, the young actress is said to have made space so that she can fulfill her wish of acting with the Nagarjuna. And we are sure that the audiences will be very eagerly looking forward to see these attractive actors on screen.

Bala-Gunasekhar’s Sadhu launch in March
‘Sadhu’ is the title that is being considered for the Gunasekhar directed Balakrishna starrer that is to be produced by Sakhamuri Panduranga Rao and presented by Bellamkonda Suresh. The film is set to go on floors in March in the coming year. Details about the remaining cast and crew are yet to be announced.

Raja turns distributor with Mister Medhavi
Actor Raja is ready to distribute films. Albeit his own films. Word has it that Raja, who plays the lead role in director Neelakantha’s Mister Medhavi, has bought the over seas distribution rights of the film including those for the film’s DVD. The film stars Geneelia as the leading lady.

After a long gap, Manisha Koirala is back in Telugu films. She is doing an item song for Srikanth’s latest film Nagaram which is being produced by Kishore and Sri Mitra Chowdary. She is charging a bomb for this. Jagapati Babu does a guest role. This film is a remake of a hit Tamil flick. Kaveri Jha is paired up with Srikanth.

Happy Days Nikhil with ‘Sye’ Giri
Giri who produced films like Andhrawala, Naa Alludu and Sye in the past is making his comeback with a film that features Nikhil (Happy Days fame) as hero. Parasuram (Bujji) who worked with many projects under Puri Jagan and Bhaskar (Bommarillu) is wielding megaphone for the first time. The regular shooting will start in November 2008. The casting process is going on now.

2nd HIFF from 3 January
Second Hyderabad International Film Festival is going to start on 3 January 2008 and continue till 10 January. The festival will be held in the five screens of Prasads multiplex and Amaravathi theater (Lakadi ka pool). The delegate passes for all the films would be obtained by paying Rs. 500/-. These passes can be obtained from the festival office in Saradhi Studios, Ameer pet. Dasari will act as festival chairman.

Okka Magadu music on 21 December
Bala Krishna’s latest film Okka Magadu in the direction of YVS Chowdary will be launched at a public function held at Cyber Gardens (beside Shilpa Kala Vedika) on the night of 21 December. Shooting of the film is complete on 6 of December. Postproduction work is going on now. Mani Sharma composed seven songs. Anushka, Priyanka Kothari (Nisha Kothari) and Simran play female leads. Okka Magadu will release on 11 January 2008.

Swagatam shooting complete
Shooting of Jagapati Babu’s latest film Swagatam was completed yesterday. They shot a remix version of ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’ on Jagapati Babu and Anushka at a set erected in the floor of Rama Krishna Horticulture studios. Dasarath (Santosham fame) directs this film. Anushka and Bhumika Chawla play female leads. RP Patnaik composes music and Aditya Ram produces this film.

Don and Anasuya this week

Nagarjuna’s much awaited film Don in the direction of Lawrence will be releasing on 20th of this month all over the world. Anushka plays female lead. Lawrence made his debut as music director with this film. Lawrence is also playing a vital role in this film. Ravi Babu’s suspense thriller ‘Anasuya’ will be releasing on 21 December. Bhumika Chawla plays female lead. Ankita and Nikhita play other important characters.

Mee Sreyobhilashi on 28 December
Mee Sreyobhilashi which is expected to release on 22 December is shifted to 28 December due to unavailability of theaters. CC Reddy is releasing the film throughout AP using Suresh Movie distributors. Rajendra Prasad plays the title role. Eeswar Reddy directed this film.

Raja in Pinisetty’s next
Hero Raja will be teaming up with actress Kajal to play the lead role in film maker Raviraja Pinisetty’s upcoming yet-to-be-title venture. The film, the details of which have not yet been disclosed, is expected to be launched in the New Year.

Pawan Kalyan to reapeat Kushi magic with Surya
Actor Pawan Kalyan is all set to team up with his Kushi director S.J.Surya for his next venture. Kushi is one of Pawan Kalyan’s biggest hits to date. Pawan Kalyan will begin work on S.J.,Surya’s film after Sankranthi, once he has completed his present assignment being directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The film, which is titled as Pulli, will go on floors from 16th Jan 2008. Singanamal Ramesh is producing the movie.

Ravi Teja-Anushka team up again
For the first time actor Ravi Teja is teaming up with an old co star of his. The actor, who has never repeated any of his heroines till now, is teaming up with Anushka, his Vikramarkudu co star, for director Uday Shankar’s Suresh Babu produced yet-to-be-titled Suresh Productions film. The film is being presented by D.Ramanaidu.

Tamil star in Vishnu’s next
Director Krishna Vamsi has reportedly signed on a well known Tamil star to act in his upcoming film starring Vishnu in the lead role and being produced by Dr. Mohan Babu for home production SLPP banner. The Tamil actor’s name is not yet being released nor has the heroine of the film been finalized. Vishnu is presently shooting for director P.Vasu’s Krishnarjun.

2007 Telugu film awards on New Year’s Eve
K.S.Rama Rao, president of Film Nagar Cultural Center, announced that the inaugural version of the Telugu Film awards will take place on the 31st of this month. Speaking at a press meet on 15th December K.S.Rama Rao said “The Telugu Film awards will be an annual event starting from this year. Films released between Dec 1st 2006 and Nov 30th 2007, will be considered for the 2007 awards. The jury will comprise of 14 members from the FNCC Management committee. The awards ceremony will take place on 31st December beginning from 8 pm onwards. The event will be organized by the Bangalore based event management company, Whiz Craft. We are planning to conduct this event on the lines of the Oscars”.

Vinayak to direct Chiru again
It’s almost official. Production giants Allu Arvind, Ashwini Dutt and KRR are joining hands to jointly producer megastar Chiranjeevi’s next film to be directed by V.V.Vinayak. The film, to be produced under the banner of United Movie Makers, will be a socio political drama unlike the actor’s previous film with Vinayak, Tagore. With rumors of Chiranjeevi’s inevitable entry into politics doing the rounds, this film will sure be a highly anticipated, must-watch flick of the coming year. The film will also be Chirnajeevi’s 149th film.

Balakrishna is Gunasekhar’s next
Word from the industry has it that Nandamuri Balakrishna will be starring in a magnum opus to be directed by Gunasekhar and to produced by a well known producer. Though no official announcements have been made to this effect, one would sure like to see if director Gunasekhar would pull off this coup of sorts.

Nagarjuna gives the nod for Sreenu Vytla
With his Lawrence directed Don ready to hit the screens on the 20th of this month, actor Nagarjuna has apparently moved onto his next project. It is being said that Nagarjuna has given the nod for director Sreenu Vytla’s next film that is being produced by Siva Prasad Reddy for the banner Sri Kamakshi Movies. Trisha is being considered as the female lead. The yet-to-be-titled venture is expected to start rolling in April next year.

Actor Brahmanandam enters Guinness Book
Veteran character actor and comedian Brahmanandam has been honored with a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for acting in the maximum number of films in a single language. Brahmanandam, with a career spanning over 20 years, has acted in 754 Telugu films to date. Speaking about the citation the beaming actor said “I got the confirmation news last night. I am absolutely thrilled and I have only the Telugu film audiences to thank for this.” Here’s wishing the versatile actor many more such glorious years.

Devi Sri turns actor with Jalsa?
Looks like effervescent music director Devi Sri Prasad is planning to make an inroad into the acting field as well. After etching out a well deserved name for himself in the music industry Devi Sri Prasad is going to come in front of the camera for a film. The music director cum singer recently completed shooting for the title track of actor Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming, Allu Arvind produced, Jalsa. The film is expected to see a 2008 summer release.

It is kurukure for Junaid
With rumors doing the rounds that debutante director Junaid’s film is a remake of the off beat surprise hit Hindi film Bheja Fry , the director himself clarified that the film is not Bheja Fry but is a story revolving around the lives of the characters played by Bhubaneswar and Duvvasi Mohan. The film, a RR Movie Makers production, has been titled as Kurukure. The film has story and dialogues by Ravi. C .Kumar and is being produced by Venkat.

Nagababu’s Shubham in January
Producer C.R.Mohan’s Nagababu starrer Shubham has completed its shooting and is presently in the post production stage. The film, a Mohan Shakti Creations production and directed by G.Siva Prasad Reddy, tells the story of how two families resolve their misunderstanding among them. The film also stars M.S Narayana, Utej and Venu Madhav. Ravi Kollikapudi provided the story while producer Mohan himself composed the music with lyrics by Bhaskar Bhatla. The music will be released by this month end, the film makers announced at a press meet held recently in the city. The film is being readied for a January release.

M.L. Kumar Choudary launches son in Sukrudu
Film producer M.L. Kumar Choudary is launching his son in his upcoming film Sukrudu. The muhurat of this film, being directed by Paruchuri Murali (of ‘Peddababu’ fame), was held last week. The film is being produced by M.L.Kumar Choudary’s production house Sri Keerthi Creations.

Teja to launch M.S.Raju’s son in Nuvve Na Hero
Maverick film producer M.S.Raju is leaving no stone unturned to launch his son Sumanth Ashwin into filmdom. The youngster will make his debut under the direction of Teja. The film, titled as Nuvve Na Hero- andi o ammai, has M.S.Raju’s favorite Devi Sri Prasad composing the music and Venu (of NVNV fame) handling the camera. The film will be launched shortly.

Colors Swathi in director Indraganti’s Ashta Chamma
Award winning director Indraganti Mohan Krishna, has finally zeroed in on television anchor cum film actress Swathi (of Danger and AMAV fame) to play the lead role in his upcoming romantic comedy titled Ashta Chamma. The film, being produced by Ram Mohan Rao, will have a new actor playing the male lead opposite Swatmi. Kalyani Malik is providing the music for the film.

Dasari to be felicitated by Telugu Chalana Chitra Sangam on 16th
Film maker and MP Dasari Naranayana Rao will be felicitated with the ‘Darsakula Sangam Athmiya’ award at the silver jubilee function of the Telugu Chalana Chitra Sangam, to be held on the 16th of this month. Speaking about the event, Sangam director Sagar said “It is been 25 years since the AP Directors Association was established. As part of the silver jubilee celebrations we will be felicitating Dr Dasari Narayana Rao. Around 150 directors from the film fraternity are expected to grace the occasion. Senior director Kodandarami Reddy always wanted to be an actor. But he left behind the scenes all through his career. As his son Vaibhav’s maiden film “Godava” is yielding good response, the senior director shows interest to grease the paint on his face and come in front of the camera. Industry news is that Kodandarami Reddy has got an offer from another director. EVV Satynarayana has offered him a great character in his next film. Although Kodanda has no plans of continuing acting career, he believes it is a good fun testing his acting skills.

Yogi to direct Venkatesh for producer Bujji
Yogi, long time associate of Ram Gopal Varma, got big break. The director who made “Oka Raju Oka Rani” earlier is making his second film after long time with hero Venkatesh. Nallamalupu Srinivas (Bujji) has given him the chance this time and this big project is all set to roll on from mid Janaury. Venkatesh and Bujji have delivered a big blockbuster – “Lakshmi” and their pairing again makes ripples in trade circles. Kona Venkat is providing the story, screenplay and dialogues for this film.

Telugu heroine Soumya enters into Tamil
Vizag based Telugu actress Soumya is flooded with interesting film offers. She got noticed in various films ("The Angrez", "Aa Roje) and Soumya has good line up of films that will ensure her to get a good foothold in the film industry. Sowmya has signed two Telugu films which are currently under progress. She has "Ninna Nedu Repu" and "Call Centre", a film by Kanmani in Telugu. She is also entering into Tamil films. In a Tamil film called "Tozha", the charming heroine acts as one of the lead roles.

Vishnu does dare devil action stunt

Vishnu uses advance fight equipment
Vishnu is in Tirupati now to shoot for his current film in the direction of P Vasu. An action sequence is being canned on Vishnu and the fighters in college. Stun Siva is choreographing these action sequences. Vishnu is supposed to jump from 100 meters. These sequences are generally shot using ropes. But Vishnu has imported an equipment worth 20 lakhs for this purpose. These are called air beds. And it won’t hurt you even if you jump from 100 meters. However, Vishnu has done all the purchase without the knowledge of the producer Mohan Babu. Let’s see how Mohan Babu is going to react when they show budget to him.

Athidi in 712 theaters
‘Releasing worldwide in 712 theaters on 18th October ’ is the tagline for all the pre-publicity material of Mahesh Babu’s Athidi. This is going to be highest ever print and theater release. This film is hitting the screens on the eve of Vijaya Dasami. Amrita Rao plays female lead. Athanokkade fame Surender Reddy directs it. G Ramesh Babu produces it. UTV is releasing the film all over Andhra Pradesh.

Simran as Nagababu’s heroine
As per the sources of idlebrain.com, Simran is acting as heroine in Nagababu’s latest film Apadamokkulavadu. Posani Krishna Murali who delivered Operation Duryodhana with Srikanth as hero is directing this film. Shooting of this film is going on in and around Guntur. Simran is currently acting in Okka Magadu and John Appa Rao 40+.

Kalyani is Naga Babu’s is heroine
Kalyani is being paired up with Nagababu in the forthcoming Kodi Rama Krishna’s film. This film is going to be a cop story. Popular Guntur based politician Rayapati Sambasiva Rao is going to do a vital character in this film. Muhurat of this film will be held on 20 October.

Siddardha to do producer Bujji's film
Hero Siddardha has signed another film in Telugu. M S Raju's "Aata" was his last released movie. Siddardha who is very selective in his choice of films is doing his next for producer Nallamalupu Srinivas who is popularly known as Bujji. A new director Kishore is handling the direction. He has assisted top director V V Vinayak for many films. The film will begins its regular shooting from January.

Harish and Rajiv Kanakala together
"Premkhaidi" fame Harish is doing another film after "Pellaindhi Kani". He is going to act in a new movie that also stars Rajiv Kanakala as one of the hero. Sadguru Sai Creations is producing it in the direction of V R Prashant. The regular shooting begins from October 22 nd.

Sri Ramachandrulu Films in song recording
Hindi super hit film "Bhagam Bhag" is being remade in Telugu under Sri Ramachandrulu Films banner. Shivaji , Kamlinee Mukharjee, Ravi Krishna and Brahmanandam are the lead characters. Its re-recording began on Friday. Tammareddy Bharadwaja graced as the chief guest for re-recording ceremony and he wished the team big success. Athidhi to releases with 300 plus prints
Mahesh Babu is most popular young hero after the success of Pokiri. His much expected new film "Athidhi" is finally hitting the screens on October 18 th on the occasion of Dussera. "Athidhi" is final stages of postproduction. Bollywood Production house "UTV" is releasing the film with most number of prints. More than 300 prints are scheduled to dispatch worldwide. UTV will also release next three movies of Mahesh Babu. Industry sources it has made an agreement with Mahesh Babu for three films.

Hero NTR and Dil Raju team up
The success of "Yamadonga" made NTR smiling again. He needed this success desperately and the film becoming biggest hit in this year so far made him even more joyful. With this, he turns choosy in selection of films. After a careful listening and analysis of the script, he accepted a project for producer Dil Raju, according to sources. A newcomer Mahadev is to direct this. He is a disciple of S S Rajamouli. The film is going to be launched in January 2008.

Singer Tina to do more pop albums

Mumaith Khan's new film will be beginning on Vijaya Dasami festival. She is going to play the lead heroine role in director Venky's new film. R S Films's "Lakshmi Putrudu" has begun re-recording. Uday Kiran and Diya are acting as romantic pair in the film which is directed by new director Raj Kapoor. Polishetty Rambabu is the producer. "We have completed the shooting part and begun re-recording. Our music director D Imman is very popular music director in Tamil and scored many hits in Tamil. He has given great music for our film too and his rerecording will be a big asset," producer said. "We are planning to release it next month. Brahamanandam's role will be big highlight," he said.

Comedian turned hero Sunil is currently developing a six pack body for his next film as hero - Banthi. He sought the help of a fitness trainer to be there with him so that he could do rigorous workouts whenever time permits him. This Banthi film is said to be a comedy flick with action orientation. Sunil himself is said to have prepared the story. Surender Reddy who currently directed Athidi is going to direct this film.

Remo choreographs Prabhudeva

Tamil hero Madhavan prefers to do Telugu films now. He informed a news channel that he has high respect for Telugu films and directors. Madhavan has just completed Ram Gopal Varma produced “Adhi Oka Idhile” in Telugu. “I am also offered another interesting project in Tollywood. We are under the finalization of it. I have always felt that one needs the command over the language when one does a film in that language. So I waited all these years to do straight Telugu film,” Madhavan said. Yamadonga function postponed
The proposed 50 days function of Yamadonga film is indefinitely postponed. The official reason stated is the incessant rains. But unofficially, it might be due to the fact that the function should be held after completing 100 days in grand way. Earlier it was planned to have 50 days function on 14 of October in Kasu Brahmananda Reddy stadium. NTR is expected dance in this function. The dialogues cassette of Yamadonga film is also expected to release on the same day.

Tulasi censoring on 8 October
Venkatesh’s 12 October release Tulasi is going for censoring on 8 October. Since it is a mass flick with child sentiment, the producer Suresh Babu is planning for an extensive prints release. Nayana Tara is doing female lead. Shriya did an item song. Venkatesh had a slight injury during shooting of this film in January. With AMAV becoming a success, there are huge expectations on this film. Devi Sri Prasad composed music. Boyapati Srinu is the director.

Tamil superstar Rajnikanth watched a special preview show of Chirutha film and congratulated Chiranjeevi about the performance of Ram Charan Teja.
