ANR admits that his long life is really a wonder. He said that he feels astonished to see his healthy body even at this age of 84. He said that it is the gift of genes that takes major share. Next, the discipline in food, sleep and thought process that supports the longevity, he added. He also said that success also boosts up happiness and extends the longevity.

"My success is not because of my greatest talent. That is because of my performance that never spoiled the role given to me", he said by putting his confidence in humble way.

Sorry! Don't come to conclusions. This is the comedy theme in 'Chirutha'. Ali plays the owner of a massage center who is a eunuch. He runs the massage center in Bangkok hiring 4 girls. Ram Charan Teja plays tourist guide in the film.

Well, Ali did his job wonderfully and it will stand as highlight in the film as per the inside sources. The comedy track between Venu Madhav and Ali that lasts for a few minutes also worked really well, say the sources. Both Venu Madhav and Ali meet in a prison to tickle the ribs of audience.

Interview: Yes! I copy, says Ram Gopal Varma

New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) His last two films may have been trashed for being poor imitations of "Sholay" and "What Lies Beneath", but Ram Gopal Varma confesses rather defiantly that he copies - "from everywhere"!

"I copy from Hollywood films. Not only from Hollywood I also copy from Tollywood, Kollywood... in fact from everywhere. These days I am copying from news channels as I am zapped by their speed," said the man whose last two films "Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag" and "Darling" were super duds in the box office.

"When we are born, we are born with a blank mind and every idea is actually copied from a book, a film... or somewhere," Varma told IANS philosophically during a recent visit to Delhi.

Though he hasn't delivered any big hit recently, Varma has memorable films like "Rangeela", "Satya", "Company" and "Sarkar" under his belt. He is also the man to have introduced many new talents - the list includes Manoj Bajpai, Rajpal Yadav, Isha Koppiker and Randeep Hooda, all of whom were struggling till they were recognised after working in his films.

Some of his protégés', however, like Mohit Ahlawat whom he launched in "James", have blamed him for messing up their careers. But the maverick director is undeterred and says these outbursts are outcomes of their over expectations.

"If they say so they must be having some reason behind it. Actually, newcomers have a lot of expectations. When I launch them, I build their confidence to take the best out of them. They take me for granted and blame me against those who never gave them a chance," he said.

Other than Manoj and Rajpal Yadav, none of the actors launched by him has been able to leave a lasting mark in the Hindi film industry. The filmmaker believes success depends on an actor's individual effort.

"Success belongs to them. I don't pitch them to make them successful. Their potential remains the same, it is just that they have to work hard and groom themselves with time".

If Varma doesn't shoulder the responsibility of his protégés' failure, he doesn't take credit for their success either: "I just boost their confidence and they do the rest themselves".

In "Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag", the director launched Prashant Raj, a model. Though critics have slammed the performance, Varma says he is satisfied by Prashant's work and dismisses the belief that working with newcomers is a strenuous job.

"Most of the time, newcomers are more prepared than veteran actors. They do their homework properly and then come on the sets while established actors are too busy to rehearse before they come for shooting."

Varma's forthcoming films include "Sarkar 2", "Go" and "Dheyaya".

A spell binding oil painting exhibition was held by Siri Drawing and Oil Painting Institute presenting 'A profile of a legend' series with Akkineni Nageshwara Rao's paintings. The celebrity painter in the list is Sobha Naidu. Many painters have drawn paintings starting from ANR's high school age portrait to a still in 'Sree Ramadasu'.

The exhibition enthralled everyone and the paintings are not put for sale.

Buzz: Chirutha Controlled By Chiru and Aravind

Puri Jagannath is found much tensed now and the reason s known for all. The prestigious responsibility of introducing Ram Charan Tej, the son of Chiranjeevi is kept on the shoulders of Puri. The D Day is coming closer. Chiranjeevi was very well involved in the making of the film as well. It is said that he asked Puri to re shoot some sequences.

Adding to this, the involvement of Chiranjeevi is seen in publicity aspect also it seems. It is said that Puri takes utmost care and interest in designing the publicity material for any of his films. But Chiranjeevi and Aravind again negated with Puri in the matter of poster designs and asked to do again. Chiranjeevi is completely immersed in all the aspects of pre publicity and release.

If the film runs out to be success, the credit goes to Ram Charan and if it fails it goes to Puri. Hence Puri is highly tensed now. Fans are disappointed till yesterday as there were no trailers in TV so far. The publicity is very weak for the film so far.

The entire show is being controlled by Chiranjeevi and Aravind. The names of producer and director seem to be only dummies.

Only the D Day should decide the tension relief of Puri.

Chiru to spring surprise on Gandhi Jayanti?

A strong rumour is going on in the State political circles that Megastar Chiranjeevi is all set to spring a surprise on the people by announcing his party on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti day.

According to these rumours, Chiranjeevi has already drafted his plans to launch his political party and is deliberating on its name. For some time, he made himself not available to any of his friends and even closest of his family members, except his brother-in-law Allu Aravind and a few other friends in his community circle. He does not want to attend even the releasing function of his son Ram Charan Teja's film Chirutha later this month. It is only after announcing the launch of his party, does Chiranjeevi come out with a strategy to build up the party organization, after watching the people's response.

According to sources, the Mega Star is of the view that the time is ripe for launching the party, since the situation is very fluid at this stage. The image of the YS Rajasekhara Reddy government is going down, while Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu has no strategy to capitalize the government's failures and moreover, the people are not in a position to believe him. The Leftist parties are going in their own way, giving a boring feeling to the people. So, the people are looking for a fresh change in politics and Chiranjeevi could be one to provide the relief. And since the elections are just one and a half months away, there is a possibility that Chiranjeevi can consolidate his position by that time, sources said.

If the rumours are to be believed, one should watch out for his strategies in the politics.

A Senior Producer About Mohan Babu Politics

Is Mohan Babu sympathizing Congress? He worked for TDP earlier-right? The incident that took place in Vizag gave an impression that Mohan Babu is drifting towards Congress. TSR awards ceremony had took place in Vizag where the President of Youth Congress TJY Sudhakar Babu said that YSR felt bad for prohibiting two awards those have to be given on the hands of him during Platinum Jubilee function.

Story:
Siva Kasi (Kalyan Ram) runs a welding shop. He falls in love with a rich man’s daughter Devi (Vedika). The rich man asks Sivakasi to get his parents in order go with marriage proceedings. Then Sivakasi’s flash back rolls on screen. Sivakasi was Shakthi earlier. His elder brother was Durga Prasad (Sai Kumar). Durga Prasad murders a lady and pushes the buck on Shakti in childhood. Thus Shakti will be ostracized from the village, Venkatapuram.

He becomes Sivakasi and lives on welding business.

He comes back to the village but he finds his father (Suman) was died many years ago. His mother (Jayasudha) will be thrown away in cattle rearing place by his brother Durga Prasad. Durga Prasad is an MLA there and is very cruel.

How Shakti aka Sivakasi settles the accounts there by teaching lesson to Durga Prasad is rest of the story.

Performances:
Kalyan Ram didn’t do to to expected level in this film. He is good at action scenes but while enacting pathos and emotion he is not up to the mark. The immersion in character is not found in many scenes.

Vedika is too slim to relish. But she justified her role by acting as per norms. There is nothing great to say about her.

Sai Kumar is the villain in the film and he is not used properly by the director. The screenplay and dialogue went weak without giving boost to this actor. Jayasudha is adequate and Suman is fit for the flash back role.

Srikanth Deva’s music is in Tamil style and not catchy.

Samudra appears on screen in a scene and he did not do his job properly. The audience couldn’t respond actively even to a single scene. Lakshmipathi says a dialogue implying Kalyan Ram, “Vishwa Vikhyatha Nata Sarvabhoumuni daggara bandhuvula unnaadu”. Usually, whistles roar in theaters for such dialogues. But even that dialogue didn’t catch the attention of audiences. The sharpness of Paruchuri’s pen is not found in this film. Samudra’s captaincy is also not up to the mark.

Analysis:
The film has turned up dull on a whole. It smells old in story line and also out dated in narration. Except the last few minutes of the film, the entire show tests the patience of audiences. The film starts with havoc created by some villain gang and that’s followed by the routine introduction of hero with fight. First half runs dull with many ups and downs. Interval bang is also not so great and the second half again goes dull with predictable scenes and weak dialogues and screenplay. The last few minutes of screenplay grabs some attention but still even that is routine.

Although, this Perarasu’s story brought success in Tamilnadu, it failed completely to entertain audience here. The treatment by Samudra also didn’t match to the expected tempo and emotional levels.

The songs are weak and all are on beaten track resembling Tamil fast beats. To sum up, the film should struggle a lot with publicity to make it reach people. Positive Word of mouth publicity is doubtful.

Senior producer Ashwinidutt is planning a series of films in the near future. His current movie is "Chirutha" that is releasing on September 28 th. He is confident that the film shatters all the records and sets new trend. Buoyed by the response he is getting for the trailer of the film, he announces that he would make another film with Puri Jagannadh very soon. Ashwinidutt also wants to launch other stars sons. Next on his cards are – D Suresh Babu's on Rana, Mahesh Babu's son Gowtham and Pawan Kalyan's son Akira Nandan.

With the encouraging reports regarding the music, producer Lagadapati Sridhar is planning early release. It might hit the screens on October 5 th.

Gossip: Heroine Was Suspected To Be Thief!

Telugu actress Sanjana was interrogated by Chennai police this evening. She was suspected to be the thief in a local MLA's house where 100 jewelry items were looted along with Rs 1 lakh. Police have also taken finger prints of the actress. The incident took place when the wife of this local ex-MLA Ulagarakshgan was alone at home in Kodambakkam, Chennai.

Ambika, the ex MLA's wife complained to police that robber woman came wearing a helmet and attacked Ambika to loot her house.

Pawan's Case Adjourned To 22nd October

Pawan Kalayan-Nandini case is adjourned to October 22nd by the Visakhapatnam Court. The court has also passed dictum to police asking to submit the final report by then.

In the initial report, the police have told, "We have interrogated Chiranjeevi's family members and the servant maids. We found no clue that Pawan's family members harassed Nandini. We also found no clue that supports the marriage of Pawan Kalyan and Renu Desai".

We have to see what the final report of the police says.

'Yamaho Yama' takes over Telugu music top slot

Hyderabad(IANS): There are three new songs on the list this fortnight. New entrant "Chiruta" has edged out "Shankar Dada Zindabad" from the top slot. Directed by Puri Jagannath "Chiruta" is one of the most-awaited films of the year as it launches Chiranjeevi's son Ramcharan Teja. Mani Sharma has scored the music for the film.

The top five Telugu songs are:

1. "Yamaho Yama" - Film: "Chiruta". Sung by Tipu, the song tops the charts. A bilingual number, it has a lively, loud, youthful feel.

2. "Noonoogumeesaalodu" - Film: "Yamadonga". A melodious and peppy number that reminds one of an old Telugu song is back on the list. Music director Keeravani has crooned it with Sunita.

3. "Aakelesthe" - Film: "Shankar Dada Zindabad". After remaining on the top position for several weeks, the song has come two notches down this fortnight. Devisri Prasad's music and Mamta Mohandas and Naveen's energetic voices helped it to rock so far.

4. "Raara Raara" - Film: "Vijayadasami". A mass-oriented, foot-tapping number, which opens with "Ganapati Bappa Moriya", is sung with verve by Shankar Mahadevan. Srikanth Deva composed the music for the song, which seems to be a festive number.

5. "Banam" - Film: "Raghavan". Harris Jayaraj ropes in Bombay Jayashri to sing the song with Harish Raghavendra. Harris seems a constant with director Gowtham Menon, the director of "Cheli" and now "Raghavan". The music has a certain melody and the song grows on the listener. The musical orchestration has a classical feel.

Channel banned for fake sex sting on Delhi teacher

Live India TV channel — under fire for its alleged fake sting operation — has been banned for a month. The decision was taken by I&B ministry and comes close on the heels of the strong stance taken by Delhi HC against the channel.

This is the first news channel to be banned in the country.

I&B minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said, “When sting operations are done in pubic interest, exposing cash-for-query scam, Parliament expels the MPs. But when it is done to create sensation, I don’t see why it does not meet the fate of those MPs.”

The ministry took the decision based on a recommendation by the inter-ministerial committee, sources said.

The channel had been issued two show-cause notices for showing a programme based on half-truths, and slandering an individual. It had claimed that teacher Uma Khurana was involved in an organised prostitution racket of school girls.

"Durga (Jagapathi Babu) is a big factionist in Hyderabad. He has a sister (Neha) whom he takes care off from her childhood and she is very dear to him. Durga has a rival "Taslim Khan" based in Old city and Neha's life is under threat because of the gang fights between both groups

Neha is always followed by bodyguards and her body guards try to beat up some innocent student in college thinking he might be having links with Khan. Somebody in college calls his friend on Mobile asking to help his innocent friend. A series of Phone calls are shown and msg reaches some one and the phone calls stop with this guy. He is none other than "Charan Tej" who gives life for friendship. He comes to the college in minutes and here is the introduction fight of hero. Elevation of hero is handled excellently by Puri Jagannadh and this is by far the most powerful introduction any new hero got in last decade.

The scenes following revolve around how heroine gets impressed by charan's quality risking his life for somebody he doesn't even know and she falls in love with him in her first look. First half of movie goes really fast with good comedy timing by Charan and his friends (Sunil,Venumadhav etc). There are some gripping moments in the movie when Jagapathi Babu and Charan meet one another and Jagapathi Babu doesn't know that Charan is the same guy who hit his men in college. Interval bang comes in a way where Charan goes to Old city into Khan's den, gives him warning and comes back. By the end of first half, the expectations of people will be set very high about the second half.

Second half deals with how Charan shows the power of youth to fight out both gangs in the city with his intelligence and how Charan manages to win his love by overpowering Jagapathi Babu. The film has to be watched on screen and is a treat to fans and very enjoyable to movie lovers.

'Yamadonga' topper despite new Telugu releases

Finally, "Hello Premistara" starring Sairam Shankar, who is Puri Jagannath's brother, hit the theatres this fortnight. The film's release had been postponed due to the recent bomb blasts. With security tightened in some theatres, the audiences have now started returning to the cinema halls.

Despite the new release and bomb blasts, "Yamadonga" seems to be ahead in the ratings and tops the chart.

The coming weeks will see Shekhar Kammula's "Happy Days" and Puri Jagannath's "Chiruta", which is the debut vehicle of Chiranjeevi's son Ramcharan Teja.

The top five Telugu films are:

1. "Yamadonga" - The film is still running in over a dozen theatres after a month of its release. Despite unfavourable reviews, the films is doing good business and director S.S. Rajamouli and actor N.T.R. Jr. certainly have reasons to smile at its success. The music by Keeravani continues to be on the audio charts.

2. "Raghavan" - A dubbed Telugu version of "Vettaiyadu Vilayadu", the film seems to have impressed the audience. The film is a good effort by director Goutham Menon. It has brilliant acting by Kamal Haasan and Jyothika. Some of the good Tamil films dubbed in Telugu are doing brisk business at the box office.

3. "Yamagola Malli Modalaindhi" - This rib-tickling comedy is still running in the theatres and doing average business. Some good performances seem to have made a difference.

4. "Chandamama" - Director Krishna Vamsi's film is a simple entertainer set against a rural backdrop and has made it to the list. "Chandamama" is reportedly going well with the audience.

5. "Lakshyam" - A decent entertainer, the film continues to do well, auguring good times for actor Gopichand.

Venkatesh starrer Tulasi is in the final stages of shooting and is expected to hit the screens in October. Having scorched the screen with her sizzling item number in the Prabhas starrer Munna, Shriya is doing another item number in Venkatesh's latest venture Tulasi. Nayantara is playing the lead opposite Venky in the film. Boyapati Sreenu is directing the movie being produced by Suresh Babu. Shriya has not signed up for any project in Tollywood since Sivaji, which went to be a smashing hit.

Open Letter on Happy Days

I would like to wish all the best for Shekhar Kammula's forthcoming movie. Just like any Telugu filmlover, I too have my "Wishlist for Shekhar", but I would like to express why I am compelled to write.

Telugu cinema hasn't made it to National audiences like Tamil cinema has, neither has it gained a certain classy character that Malayali/Bengali cinema has. 75 years of experience and we are at best evolving into a technically much forward version of Chattisgadh film industry.

At certain points in the 1980/90s, we've taken detours that have resulted in movies being made for certain economic sections of audiences, where numbers are high and quality is low. With Jandhyala, Bapu, K.Vishwanath, Ram Gopal Verma making apparent exits from the industry, a section of filmmaking has been sliced out.

Each time I watch a good Non-Telugu movie, I get the same feeling that every Telugu film goer gets - Why aren't our movies coming along? In his Vajrotsavam address, Megastar Chiranjeevi himself has spoken of such apathy - "Manam Bombay, Goa, Delhi daaka kooda vellalekapoyaam". So true!

On a Telugu person living in a multicultural society, all such thoughts take their toll. To me, its not at all funny to Watch "funny" Telugu videos of a South Indian hero ordering a train back with a slap on his thigh, or of a South Indian Star skidding his horse under an 18-wheeler. Responding to a popular argument that Tamil cinema too has its own share of eccentricities, it gives us no reason to do the same to our films too.

I would really love that it be people like Shekhar who represent Telugu film industry and our culture. It might be a little late, but it would be a wonderful thing if Happy Days releases with subtitles, at least in USA. Such Telugu Films need to be made available to a national audience. I watch Tamil/Malayalam/Hindi films and I can expect similar folks from other parts of India too.

As for the fate of the movie, re-quoting Al Pacino for Shekhar, "On any given Friday you're gonna win or you're gonna lose. The point is - can you win or lose like a man". We all know what Shekhar Kammula is. We all know what he is capable of. We all know how much he has done to our films with just a score of 3. And we all recognize he is human too.

A "straight from the heart" wish that Happy days gains loads of appreciation, scores of awards and tonnes of money. From my side - I am gonna own an original DVD of the movie, with subtitles - my investment in the future of our industry.

Dhoni to lead in ODIs; Pathan, Harbhajan recalled

Mahendra Singh Dhoni Tuesday replaced Rahul Dravid as captain for the One-day International home series against Australia and Pakistan, while Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh come back to the side.

Dhoni, 26, is currently leading India at the Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa. Dravid, who had opted out of the Twenty20, had made himself unavailable for the captaincy to concentrate on his batting after the recent tour of England.

Announcing a 15-member team for the first three ODIs against Australia at a press conference, cricket board secretary Niranjan Shah said here that Yuvraj Singh, who is senior to Dhoni, would be the vice-captain.

"We thought he was the best man for the job. He is a good (Twenty20) captain and it is the right time to groom him," said Dilip Vengsarkar, chairman of the selection committee.

Referring to speculation that Sachin Tendulkar had declined to lead the ODI team, he said that no one was offered the captaincy before Dhoni was finally picked.

Rohit Sharma, Ajit Agarkar and Munaf Patel, who were part of the team that recently toured England, were dropped for the first three matches.

The three ODIs will be played at Bangalore (Sep 29) Kochi (Oct 2) and Hyderabad (Oct 5).

The team for the remaining four one-dayers will be announced later.

A hard-hitting batsman who can change his game according to the situation, the Ranchi-based Dhoni has played 84 ODIs since making his debut against Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2004 and scored 2,477 runs at 44.23. In 20 Tests, he has scored 1,019 runs at 36.39.

Board president Sharad Pawar, who approved the team, endorsed the choice of Dhoni and the team as a whole.

"Anything that takes the team forward should be welcomed. We also have to see that the young generation is given opportunity and if the captain is also young that's good," he said.

The seven-match One-day International series against Australia will be played from Sep 29 to Oct 17.

The Pakistani team will visit India for five ODIs and three Test matches to be played between Nov 6 and Dec 12.

The captain for the Test series will be named later, said Vengsarkar.

On the recall of left-arm pacer Pathan and off-spinner Harbhajan, both of whom are playing Twenty20 World Championship, he said they have done well to merit a recall.

On Virender Sehwag, who is also playing in South Africa but was again ignored for the ODIs, Vengsarkar said that since the team was only for three matches, "he will get his opportunity" later in the series.

Gossip: Mamatha Mohan Das Steals Devi Sri's Heart!

Music director, Devisri Prasad has found a new soul mate. She is none other than actor- singer Mamatha Mohan Das. As his relations with Charmy strained with the intervention of his father, he was forlorn for many days.

Ramoji Rao's Smuggling Activity Revealed

ABK Prasad, the official language commission Chairman, brought to the notice of people, the smuggling activity done by a company in the Ramoji's Eenadu group.

ABK said, "The Company tried to smuggle two idols of Parvati and Vanitha Jyothy to Australia and America. But the customs officials caught them and seized. This news was published by another News Paper. But Eenadu couldn't give any rejoinder to that and sent legal notices to the Editor and Management of that News Paper after many weeks. Eenadu group tried to put the editor and management of that News Paper behind bars. But nothing materialized in favor of Eenadu group. Meanwhile the customs officials caught three more idols those were getting smuggled. Eenadu group made rounds around court from 1998 to 2006 but it couldn't come out from the mark of smuggling. The total master pieces caught by customs from Eenadu group for smuggling are 5. This was declared by Director General of customs on 12th October 2001. The DG declared those idols as antics".

It can be said that ABK Prasad has made it a point to reveal all ins and outs of Ramoji Rao. A few weeks ago he said Ramoji's attitude is crooked; next he said Ramoji was illiterate and cannot write an editorial on his own, now he implies that Ramoji is a smuggler.

Tulasi music to be released on Sept 23rd

Audio of Venkatesh's "Tulasi" is ready, waiting only for release. Buzz is that producer Suresh Babu is planning a big function for the music launch. Either it is on September 22 nd night or September 23rd. But audio albums will sure be available through Aditya Music from 23rd, they say.
Tulasi has musical score by Devi Sri Prasad. It is the first time that the young music director is scoring songs for a Venkatesh film. Presently a song is being shot on hero Venkatesh and heroine Nayanatara in Hyderabad. Boyapati Srinivas who directed blockbuster "Bhadra" is working hard to finish the film by Dussera.

Govt receives Rs 94 Lakhs from Prasads

The management of the Prasads today submitted a cheque of Rs. 94.03 lakhs to the Andhra Pradesh government as part of the revenue share. Cinematography minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy received the Cheque on behalf of the Andhra government from Ramesh Prasad, the chairperson of Prasads Group.
Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, G Adisheshagiri Rao too were present. Prasads Imax began operations in July 2003 and now it enters into fifth year.

Nayanatara, one of the top ranking heroines, is willing to pair Sunil, comedian-turned hero in the film 'Banthi'. She gave her nod after listening to the Story of the film. Sunil himself provided the story line for the film.

She says she has fondness for his wit. He has made her laugh with his humor on sets many a time, she acknowledges.

Vakada Apparao of Super good films is producing the film. While Sunil's remuneration is fixed at Rupees one crore, Nayanatara's remuneration is yet to be decided.

Once this is finalized, the making of the film commences.

Puri's Expected Remuneration For Chirutha

Grapevine says Puri Jagannath's remuneration for the film 'Chirutha' is Rs 4 Crore, with 'conditions applied'. The first remuneration is Rs 2 Cr while the rest is assuring on the percentage of the profits collected on it.

Considering the total number of prints and the scope of the film, it is estimated that irrespective of the status of the film Puri would bag a sum of Rs 4 Crore on total. If the film gets positive feedback and turns out to be a big hit then the pay would go big for Puri.

The inside statistics and the percentages are not revealed indeed.

Andhra Talk: What Mohan Babu Said Is Right!

Just look at what Mohan Babu said freshly in a TV interview before discussing what people commented on that.

NTR Played 'Brihannala', a eunuch, in Dana Veera Soora Karna. He played many villain roles- say Duryodhana and Ravana. Which star can dare to do that role in present generation? There is none. An actor is called an actor only when he portrays all sorts of roles. I'm ready even now to play any sort of role.
I speak straight without keeping anything in head. I keep my mind cool all the while and that is the secret of my glamour.
I acted in 510 films so far in which there were many silver jubilee films. I need not name them. People know them well. I never got Nandi award at any time. Had I tried I would have got. But I never tried. I know there are many undeserved fellows in industry buying awards with recommendations. If I say this, many say that I'm saying this with envy and jealousy. I accepted Padmashri announced by Central Government. That's all.
I never used vulgar language on any heroine while reprimanding. But there are occasions that I reprimanded very harshly when they gave arrogant answers for my question for their late arrival to shooting spots.
My sons have a minus point and that is being my children. Had they come from a non-filmy background, with the acting prowess they showed so far, they would have become notable actors. But being my children, people compare them with me in dialogue delivery, action and body language. They have to overcome this and come out colorfully.

Watching the program the majority people have unanimously agreed to Mohan Babu's statements and that is out of the sampling we have taken.

CB Raju, a retired bank employee says, "What Mohan Babu said regarding Nandi awards might be true. He would have got best actor award for the films like 'Pedarayudu' and 'Rayalaseema Ramanna Choudary'. There are many films to name to pick him up for best villain award as well. His performance in 'M Dharma Raju MA' was marvelous. Government should give a thought for public voting through SMS for Nandi awards as well. Only then the true winner can be announced. The chance to manage the jury members will be meager then".

That appears to be a right idea which should be given a thought.

Another viewer Aruna says, "I liked Mohan Babu's point in underlining who can act the role of Brihannala now. Really we cannot imagine anyone. Today, the importance is given only for artificial stardom but not the true talent".

"Big heroes say that their fans don't agree if they portray negative or low profile roles that extract their talent. But the real star should impress his fans by all means. Fans don't agree only when they can't see their hero doing certain roles. But the same fans watched NTR hen he portrayed villain (mythological films), handicapped (Panduranga Mahatyam) and even as eunuch (Dana Veera Soora Karna). He was real star. Same applies to Kamal Hasan", says Radhakrishna Murthy, a retired teacher.

Coming to his statement regarding his sons, a viewer Ganesh said, "I don't agree with Mohan Babu in this subject. Vishnu and Manoj need to groom up a lot. They are surviving only because of Mohan Babu's background. Had they come from any non-filmy background people would have shunned long back! They have to struggle a lot in many aspects and there is no comparison with their father".

To sum up, what we can say is that Mohan Babu could turn the senses of people positively towards him this time. He said that he will not comment on the questions relating to Vajrotsavam, saying 'Gatham Gathaha'.

Tulasi - Overseas Release by Great India Films

Great India Films announces that they acquired the Overseas Theatrical and DVD rights of one of the most prestigious movies of the year Venkatesh's 'TULASI' (tentatively titled). The movie is produced by none other than Suresh Babu on renowned Suresh Productions banner and is directed by Boypati Srinu. The film has Nayanathara, the Lucky Mascot of Tollywood to give company to her Lakshmi counterpart Venakatesh. The film looks like a complete family entertainer with scintillating music by Devi Sri Prasad. Audio is hitting the market next week and the movie is expected to release on October'12.

Happy Days clashes with Chirutha in USA

Chirutha - the much awaited debut film of Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja - is releasing all over the world on 28 September. Sekhar Kammula’s teen flick ‘Happy Days’ is releasing overseas on 28 September and in India on 2 October.

Sekhar Kammula has tremendous market in overseas as his last two films Anand and Godavari won the hearts of NRIs. His visit for the 50 days function celebrated in Dallas, USA also generated tremendous response. Sekhar Kammula is having very good cordial relationship with media by feeding it with publicity material at regular intervals.

On the contrary the makers of Chirutha are keeping tight lipped about the film and are not giving any publicity material to press. And there is huge craze for Chirutha. Chiruta is directed by Puri Jagan who delivered two super hits. His film Pokiri turned out to be the industry hit. Music of these two films is met with good response from music lovers.

It may be learnt that Sekhar Kammula’s Anand (with 5 prints) and Chiranjeevi Shankar Dada MBBS (with 100’s of prints) were released on the same day and both of the films became super hits. USA release on 28 Sep & India release on 2 Oct
Happy Days is going to release on 28 of September in USA and 2nd of October (Gandhi Jayanti) in India. For the first in the history of Telugu film industry, a film is releasing in international arena first and then releasing in India later.

RK Film Distributors who distributed the records-shattering overseas blockbuster Bommarillu are distributing Happy Days. This film is expected to release with 11 prints in abroad on 28 of September. Dil Raju bought the distribution rights for entire Andhra Pradesh by paying a fancy amount. He has distributed several blockbusters in Nizam in the past. For the first time he is releasing a film for the entire Andhra Pradesh releasing. This release is going to be limited 30+ print release in AP on 2 October.

Dil Raju says that he has given consent for the advanced USA release though there is a huge risk involved. The reason for his consent is the huge confident he has on the result of the film. The target audiences of this film are going to be youth (because of the movie subject) and families (because of Sekhar Kammula’s reputation as clean filmmaker).

Interesting aspect of the PRASADS IMAX Project

The roles of Government and business enterprise are normally quite different and well defined. The contemporary concept of Public Private Partnerships is bringing them together for directing their expertise in maximizing the wealth of the Nation. The partnership between Government of Andhra Pradesh and PRASADS has exactly achieved this desired goal.

Presentation of the first revenue share cheque of Rs. 94, 03,376/- by PRASADS, the private partner in the partnership, to the Government corroborates the spirit of this concept.

On this happy occasion it is apt to once again bring into the public domain the facts and figures concerning this successful partnership.

1. In the year 2000, the Government of Andhra Pradesh called for global expression of interest from interested bidders for setting up of an IMAX theatre and family entertainment centre in the Buddha Purnima Project Authority Area of Hyderabad under the private public partnership.

2. Out of the 15 Business houses across the globe, who have filed their expression of interest for the project, PRASADS Group was chosen after going through a rigorous selection process.

3. After the land was handed over for almost one and half years the project was not allowed to take off with public interest litigations. The PILs were finally disposed off in February 2002 and the project was made commercially operational in July 2003. This shows the commitment with which PRASADS Group took up this project.

4. The commitment and enthusiasm of PRASADS towards this project was so strong that they have bid for the project offering the Government a revenue share of 15% from the project compared to the nearest bid which has offered only 6.71% revenue share to the Government.

5. Government of A.P. has given 10,832 sq yds of vacant unutilized land valued in the year 2001 at Rs. 11.92 crores on a lease for a period of 33 years to PRASADS for the project.

6. PRASADS have built this project on the said land, investing Rs.65 crores.

7. The project was awarded on a Build - Own - Operate and Transfer basis for 33 years.

8. PRASADS is paying a lease rent of Rs. 6,03,450/- per month to the Government in the current year. This increases by 5% every year, at that rate it will be amazing to note that in the 33rd year of lease PRASADS will be paying a lease rent of Rs. 23,65,600/- per month to the Government.

9. Apart from the lease rent, PRASADS pay 15% revenue share to the Government, the revenue sharing partner of this project. Revenue share means a share on the turnover of the company notwithstanding whether the company earns any profits.

10. The Government gave a holiday for the revenue share from this project for first two years i.e. from 25th July 2003 to 24th July 2005.

11. For the 3rd and 4th years (25th July 2005 to 24th July 2007) Government allowed deferment of the revenue share and the differed amount is payable in 24 monthly installments from the 49th month onwards i.e. from 25th July 2007 onwards.

12. The revenue share accrued and payable to Government for the differed period of 3rd and 4th years is Rs. 9,36,62,320/-. It may be of great interest to the Government and the public at large to note that the floor revenue share fixed by Government at the time of calling bids for the project was Rs. 2.50 lakhs per month compared to the present monthly share of Rs.45 lakhs generated by the project for the month of August 2007, which is almost 1800% over the minimum expectation of the Government. This is the beauty of Public Private Partnership project. If the Private partner is committed and capable, the public exchequer gets the best advantage and Returns from the project.

13. The revenue share of 15% from this project, very certainly, is the highest that is being earned by the Public exchequer from any comparable tourism project. 14.

14. The first revenue share cheque of Rs.94,03,376/- being presented today consists of: * First monthly installment of the 3rd and 4th years differed revenue share 39,02,596. * Revenue share for the period 25th July 2007 to 31st August 2007 55,00,780

15. As against the notional value of the land given for the project by the Government on lease i.e. without parting with the title to the land, which was Rs. 11.92 crores, the Government has till date (i.e. in the 4 years) earned Rs. 12.97 crores comprising Rs. 3.05 crores in the form of land lease rentals and Rs.9.92 crores as revenue share. What a successful Project!!!

16. The project has generated direct employment for 400 people notwithstanding the indirect employment it has generated.

17. Approximately 40 million patrons have visited this facility in the last 4 years of operation resulting in considerable trade and commerce.

18. The project is generating handsome indirect revenues to the Government through taxes and license fees.

19. Another important feature of this partnership is that after the lease period of 33 years the structures of the project along with the land will revert to the State Government without any compensation payable to PRASADS.

20. Last but not the least, the present day concern of patrons - the safety and security is very extensively taken care of in the project. The building has implemented all the fire safety measures under the guidance of the Fire Department and placed closed circuit cameras across the building to cover every nook and corner of the building. I am sure all of you will recall based on the information recorded in these CC cameras Police were able to trace the person who left behind a bomb in the complex some time ago.

On this occasion we would like to touch upon certain problems faced by this project.

1. As a notified tourism project this project is eligible for Sales tax exemption for the first 5 years of its operation. But sadly it was not allowed and PRASADS has taken up this issue to the legal forum.

2. This project was exempted from entertainment tax for the first 5 years of its operation, again the same was denied on certain non-existent grounds for part of the period, which is contested by PRASADS.

3. One screen built in the project with the approval of the Government, was not allowed to operate on certain technical grounds for the last 3 and half years.

Nostalgia: NTR's Speech Variations On and Off Dais

Every Andhrite knows how NTR's speeches shook the senses of people. His speech used to comprise melo-dramatic words with cinematic appeal. And his dialogues on screen need no explanation. They stood as best all the time. But how he used to speak off the screen in informal sittings?

The people those observed him in close contours say that he used to speak in normal tone like any other Krishna district villager. He used to have pakka Vijayawada slang (his native was Nimmakuru near Vijayawada). The words used by him were country-type many times during his informal talks, they added.

So, NTR is the best example for the people who change modulation of speech on and off the dais. But ANR is almost same on and off the dais. He maintains a standard tempo in speech, say some seniors.
