TV9 Rajni Kanth is getting negative feedback from the fans of Chiranjeevi and also the general public. They say that it is fair till he informed the people about Srija's marriage. But asking the reporters standing at Chiranjeevi's house, "How are the feelings of the people coming in and going out there?", '"Is Srija in Shirdi for darshan or in Bangkok with Honeymoon package?"….The questions of this sort disgusted many as per the opinions.

People are saying TV9 Rajni Kanth is doing over action. But still they are not changing the channel from TV9. Although scolding Rajni Kanth, they are tempted and addicted to watch only TV9. That's how Rajni Kanth is making people sit before TV sets with TV9 on monitor for hours together.

And that's what TV9 requires. That is not bothering if Rajni Kanth is doing over action or under action.

Trade Talk: Hopes Going Despairs

The newly released 'Athidhi' got grand openings all over. The talk of the film is 'average' and people are saying, 'can be watched once'. That's enough for the film to pick up, say trade circles. The other film 'Tulasi' is not getting digested by many. Many say that there is mismatch of action, comedy and sentiment in the film. Some say that Venkatesh, the family hero playing action role turned a minus. The entire film turned complete dramatic without conviction, say others. Although the film made 100 percent collections in the first 3 days has seen a drop now. The talk on the film is also not supportive for better collections of the film.

The other film 'Pellaindi Kaani' of EVV Satyanarayana has bitten the mud. It proved to be an utter flop of the season. The blame should be pushed on producer Narasimha Rao for not doing proper publicity and the next blame should be pushed on EVV for choosing such a story line and projecting Allari Naresh as mad guy.

The collections of 'Bhayya' turned down miserably. Chirutha is also seeing big drop in collections. 'Happy Days' is still doing well with whopping collections all over. It proved to be the most successful film of the season.

It's Chiranjeevi's Followers Those Leaked

It is said that the followers of Chiranjeevi leaked the information that Shirish has criminal background of kidnapping a minor girl in 2002. At that time he was just 16. Sources said that they have brought the police case issue to Allu Aravind without letting that known to media in hurry. It's only left to Allu Aravind to decide whether to leak the criminal background of Shirish to public or not. Allu Aravind asked to call the media and let them known. Only then media came to know about this and they started probing into it. Now there is no public sympathy for Shirish.

The only way left for him is to send back the girl, if she realizes that she betrayed herself and her parents. If the girl still likes him, then he has to leave the state. But the sources say that he had already left the state along with Srija on Thursday after staying in Amberpet on Wednesday in friend's place.

Story:
The story of the film opens in Delhi. An orphan boy finds shelter in the house of a couple (Rajeev Kanakala and his wife). Their daughter is Amrutha (Amrutha Rao as a child). They all live happily together for a few days. They name that orphan boy as Athidhi. But unexpectedly, Amrutha’s parents get killed by an early teenage sadist murderer. The guy kills them for not giving sufficient money when demanded on road. Athidhi tries to catch him but his efforts go vain. The killer escapes in masquerade. But looking at the pistol in the hands of young Athidhi , people believe him to be the killer of those wife and husband. Amrutha also believes the same.

After a few years, Amrutha grows up and becomes a painter. She lives with Nazar, the Home Minister’s family. She happens to encounter Athidhi (Mahesh Babu) as her savior. The theme is normal that she falls in love with him. She doesn’t know that he is the same guy who lived in her home for a few days. She takes him to her home later. Then he comes to know that he is at right place. But he doesn’t reveal the fact that he is the same boy. His mission is to put an end to the murderer of Amrutha’s parents. He finally knows that he is Kaiser is the gangster. Who is Kaiser? Where he lives? How he looks? How he operates kidnap and murder deeds sitting in remote? Breaking all these shells takes us to the grand finale of the film. How Athidhi reveals the truth to Amrutha? All this makes the rest of the film. Several twists and turns also appear good in the film.

Performances:
Mahesh Babu is at his best. His histrionics are marvelous. He developed more confidence in dialogue delivery. His dialogues are with full punch and power.

Amrutha Rao is sensible. She has some Manisha Koirala features. She proved to be good performer as well.

New villain on Telugu screen Murali Sharma did well as Ajay Sastry, a police officer. He is very good actor who tuned famous with the Deepak Tijori’s TV serial ‘Rishtey’. His popularity started with the eunuch’s role in Indra Kumar’s ‘Masti’. So far he acted in films like Main Hoon Na, Black Friday, Rewind, King of Bollywood, The Rising.

Ashish Vidyarthi spilled villainy along with laughs. He is given a typical get up in the film with long netted hair. He acted as associate to main villain Kaizer.

But our tall guy Ajay, although present in the film, is not given bigger role.

Cinematography by Sameer Reddy is good in some frames. Especially in the scene before climax where heroine’s sister gets killed, camera worked out well.

Music by Mani Sharma is disappointing this time. Mahesh has been saying, “Mani never disappointed me”. But this time he disappointed Mahesh and his fans as well. Tracks are old and BGMs appear to be routine. The song ‘Rathraina Naaku Ok..’ on Malaika Arora Khan is the only bit that is good.

We recall Malleeshwari to some extent while watching the film in second half. Direction by Surender Reddy is average. It became difficult for him to carry with the long story line of the film. He always kept his mind on bringing depth in every frame but he failed to develop a strong knitting point between the scenes. That’s the part of screenplay where he fumbled. But his effort in thinking something different is understood.

Notable mistake:
In the heroine introduction scene, Melkote explains himself as a bald headed man. But where is bald head for him? Director seems to be inattentive to this dialogue.

Highlights for Masses:

• Venu Madhav’s comedy while asking for hot coffee
• Broken beer bottle episode in Brahmanandam-Sunil scene
• Surender Reddy’s idea in focusing on throat of Benerjee during his death
• Fight between Mahesh Babu and Ashish Vidyarthi, just before the latter’s death

Analysis:
It’s a 2 hr 51 minute movie with heaviness in action episodes, subtleness in little comedy and some appropriateness in sentiment. On a whole it turns to be a considerable film but shouldn’t go with the expectations of Pokiri or Athadu. It’s a movie of its own standard.

First half of the film is with action episodes followed by some routine fights and some love track scenes between the hero and heroine. As the film approaches interval, seriousness starts surrounding. Second half is with heaviness of action. Though there is some comedy that is not sufficient.

First half of the film is about 1 hr 23 minutes in length while second half is about 1 hr 28 seconds. The interval bang in the film is interesting. The climax is prolonged. Coming to the comedy track in the film there are two tracks-with Venu Madhav and Sunil-Brahmanandam. They spill laughs for the brief time they appear on screen. But still there is no enough comedy that a commercial flick of this range should have. The film has the appeal to attract masses. Villainy of Murali Sharma is impressive.

The minus point in the film is lack of sufficient comedy, weak music and long story line. The plus point is Mahesh Babu.

The film appeals this way for different set of audiences:

• Masses: They say it’s long film but action part is good. They also say that comedy is good although short.
• Women: They say Sunil-Brahmanandam’s comedy is vulgar and violence is disgusting
• Class Audience: They say it’s heavy

Orkutters condemn Chiru’s new son-in-law

It seems like a genuine case of the real world spilling over onto the wired world. The Orkut scrapbook belonging to G. Sirish Bharadwaj, who recently got married to Chiranjeevi’s younger daughter Sreeja is now overflowing with hate messages posted by angry Orkut members, a majority of them being fans of Chiranjeevi. Orkutters are having a field day at the expense of G Sirish Bharadwaj, whose scrapbook bears a tagline “Name Says It All”. Sirish’s scrapbook is now filled with hate messages from Chiru’s fans and people in general. Most of the messages are unprintable and highly abusive from Orkutters who believe that Sreeja is cheated.

In fact, the forum has now turned into a no-holds barred profanity-spewing contest in which both parties are actively involved in slandering each other. Apart from this, there are also Orkutters who have begun creating fake profiles just for the purpose of flaming the message boards. One of them has also attempted to impersonate Sirish by creating a fake profile of his. Reads one of the anti-Sirish messages on the scrapbook, “You fool, how do you think you are going to support her? You don’t even have a job.” In fact, groups supporting Chiranjeevi are teaming up with each other to collectively spam the scrapbooks of individual supporters of Sirish.

There are also those who believe that the youngsters have taken an irresponsible and immature decision by not informing the parents of their marriage. According to the comment posted by an Orkutter, “You should have waited and got settled professionally in life before embarking upon marriage.” In fact many users posted common threads that highlight the very young age of the couple and how they are “so unprepared for what life has in store for them”. A user said, “A week in the real world without the parents will be all it takes to make them realise the enormity of the impulsive action they have taken and get them both back to their respective parents.”

While the majority of the messages on Sirish’s scrapbook are of a condemning nature, there are also a few that are not so. Some young Orkutters have commended Sirish for what they call a ‘gutsy move taken by a youngster who was aware of his responsibilities’. In fact, an elderly gentleman, who also happens to be an Orkutter says, “Parents should not come in the way of the children deciding what they want to do with their lives. Upto a certain age, we can play the part of the guardian, but after a certain age, we are only facilitators of some needs that they have. If the couple has the courage to take on life, let them do so.”

I gave Tendulkar out wrongly against England: Umpire Dar

Mumbai, Oct 19 (IANS) Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar has, for the first time, admitted he gave Sachin Tendulkar out wrongly in the deciding seventh One-Day International against England in London last month.

"Immediately after I gave Tendulkar caught by wicket-keeper Matt Prior off Andrew Flintoff I realised from his reaction that I had given a wrong decision," Dar told IANS in an interview here.

Tendulkar, who scored 30 off 46 balls, was visibly stunned and he uncharacteristically stood in his crease for a few seconds, suggesting he had not snicked the ball, before returning to the dressing room.

Batting first, India were reduced to 59 for four with Tendulkar's dismissal and eventually lost the match by seven wickets at Lord's and with it the series 3-4.

Dar, who was here to officiate in the India-Australia One-Day Internationals, said that the mistake had occurred because of a brief lapse in his concentration.

"On that ball Flintoff was very close to bowling a no ball and as I was looking at his foot my concentration was disturbed," said Dar, widely considered one of the best umpires in the world.

Asked if he felt like taking his decision back to enable Tendulkar to continue batting, the 39-year-old member of the International Cricket Council's Elite Panel said that he had never recalled any player.

"Since I had never called any batsman after giving a decision I did not call him back. So, if I were to call Tendulkar I would also call the last man if given wrongly out," reasoned the man from Lahore.

"I knew that match was the decider. And I was upset after giving that decision. It was tough match (for me)," he said, referring to the 3-3 series score before that match.

Dar, however, showed his regret and tried to show his feelings to Tendulkar immediately after the match.

"After the game when players shake hands with the umpires, Tendulkar also shook my hands on the field. As he did that I said to him 'hard luck'," disclosed the affable official, who became the first Asian to officiate in 100 ODIs here Wednesday.

"Players also know that how good an umpire is. They understand that mistakes are not made deliberately and they respect good umpires."

A former first-class player himself, Dar revealed that if he is not satisfied with one of his decisions early in a match it bothers him.

"If I give an erroneous decision early in a match it plays on my mind. But I try not to let that decision affect me for the rest of the match," he said.

Dar, who also officiated the final of the 2007 ODI World Cup, was recently short-listed among the three umpires for the annual ICC's Best Umpire Award, which eventually went to Australian Simon Taufel.

He is thankful to his parents and his wife for their sacrifices to enable him to be away for long periods and concentrate on his job. His work entails him being away from home for seven-eight months a year, which forces him to miss his three young sons.

That is why Dar, who has also officiated in 39 Tests, has decided to quit umpiring at 50, 10 years before the retirement age prescribed by the ICC.

Till late in the night, the hero’s family was waiting for Srija, 18, the youngest child, to return home, but there was no sign of the newly-wed couple.

A shell-shocked Chiranjeevi remained incommunicado and was reportedly not at his Jubilee Hills house. According to sources, he was watching the events unfold on news channels all through the day. Late in the evening, he sent his emissary, brother-in-law and producer Allu Aravind, to speak to the media.

“Chiranjeevi is in a state of shock. He is not in a state of mind to speak to his fans. He gave her (Srija) all the freedom. He was like her friend, we don’t know who led her astray,” Aravind said.

The drama unfolded at around 10 am when Srija, dressed casually in jeans, went out of the house for a walk and on the way wanted to meet her aunt. She left in a friend’s vehicle. An hour and half later, Srija surfaced at Arya Samaj mandir, New Bowenpally. Her lover Shirish Bharadwaj (21) was already there. The couple, both majors, exchanged garlands and took marriage vows as per Arya Samaj tradition at around 11.30 am in the presence of friends.

Soon after the marriage, the couple asked for help from police and the media as they feared for their lives. Speaking to the media, Srija alleged her family members forced her to discontinue the relationship from the time they came to know of it. “As soon as my parents came to know of my affair with Shirish, they forced me to discontinue studies. I was virtually confined to home,” Srija, who was a student of St Francis College, said.

The couple said, she was in a state of ‘house arrest’ after she turned 18 on November 9 last. Shirish Bharadwaj is reportedly an engineering student of MGIT, Gandipet. Their love story began some four years ago when they were still minors at Jubilee Club. The two nurtured the relationship over the years till the girl’s family came to know of it. In a interview to a news channel recently, Bharadwaj reportedly alleged that Chiranjeevi and his fans were threatening him.

The couple said they were waiting for the right time to get married since they wanted to stay together. Sources said, Srija probably feared her love story would meet the same fate as her sister Sushmita’s. Srija’s elder sister was engaged to upcoming hero Uday Kiran, but a few months later the wedding was called off citing “incompatibilty” between the couple. However, the real reason was Uday Kiran was forced out of the relationship, they added.

Mahesh Babu must have some criminal background in the film. NTR had criminal background in the film 'DCM'.

Buzz: Venkatesh Did That In Single Shot

There is a scene in the song 'Tulasi' where Venkatesh brushes a yellow paint just beside the cleavage of Nayantara. The song is 'Nee kallathoti naa kallu …'. It is said that big heroes in general take many takes while shooting such scenes. They like to repeatedly do such naughty scenes saying that the perfection needs to come. Nayantara also expected that Venkatesh would repeat the scene many times.

But Venkatesh is different from others, say the unit members. It seems that he completed that shot just in single take and the director said 'ok'.

Venkatesh is very dignified and gentle with heroines and Nayantara also said the same in a recent interview. Venkatesh is not at all naughty with heroines off the screen. He minds his own work and leaves for home, once work completes, say people. He never likes to develop friendly and intimate relations with heroines.

Indian cricket board is worth nearly Rs.10 bn

Mumbai, Oct 17 (IANS) Irrespective of the national team's performance, the Indian cricket board is getting rich each year and its current total assets stand at a whopping Rs.9.6 billion ($245 million; 120.6 million pounds), thanks largely to its marketing policy and investments by sponsors.

In addition, the Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) has made investments worth nearly Rs.7.5 billion ($190 million; 93.5 million pounds) and its 'current assets, loans and advances' stand at almost Rs.2.1 billion ($53 million; 26.2 million pounds), as per its 2006-2007 annual report, a copy of which is with IANS.

Out of its total assets of Rs.9.6 billion, the board has 'fixed assets' of Rs.71 million ($1.8 million; 891,268 pounds) at the end of the 2006-2007 fiscal year. The worth of the fixed assets has shot up from Rs.16.3 million ($416,007; 204,657 pounds) during the previous fiscal year.

BCCI's marketing committee, headed by vice president Lalit Modi, is credited with bringing in most of the money during 2006-2007. Income from grant of media rights alone stood at Rs.3.1 billion ($80 million; 39.3 million pounds).

The BCCI spent Rs.37.5 million ($956,301; 470,459 pounds) on its brand new, all-glass headquarters, 'Cricket Centre', built on the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) land inside the Wankhede Stadium, venue of the seventh India-Australia One-Day International Wednesday. This amount is an additional expenditure during the year and is in "excess of the budget", says the report.

The prominent fixed assets include 'improvements to leasehold premises' worth Rs.26.1 million ($664,299; 326,805 pounds); furniture and fixtures worth Rs.13.9 million ($354,646; 174,470 pounds); 'intellectual rights' under intangible assets worth Rs.3.9 million ($99,390; 48,896 pounds); office equipment worth Rs.8.5 million ($217,685; 107,091 pounds); air conditioners, refrigerators and water coolers worth Rs.7 million ($179,453; 88,283 pounds); 'buildings' representing the National Cricket Academy Indoor School constructed on land owned by the Karnataka State Cricket Association in Bangalore, worth Rs.3.7 million ($95,229; 46,848 pounds) and trophy replicas and cricket memorabilia worth Rs.1 million ($26,413; 12,994 pounds).

Mani-Mahesh song is a mega Telugu hit

Hyderabad, Oct 17 (IANS) The audio of Mahesh Babu's starrer "Athidhi" was released a few days ago and, as expected, is doing well. Composer Mani Sarma has always proved lucky for the actor and his music rocks in his films.

The top five Telugu songs are:

1. "Khabaddharani" - Film: "Athidhi". Mani Sarma somehow gives his best for Mahesh Babu. The song, with a techno touch, is sung by Naveen and Rahul. It has a youthful feel and tempo. Keeping with the trend, the lyrics are both in Telugu and English.

2. "Mia Mia" - Film: "Thulasi". Composer Devisri Prasad has churned out a foot-tapping number, which has lyrics in Telugu, Hindi and English. Naveen and Mamta Mohandas sing it with the music director chipping in. After "Aakelesthe", Devi and Mamta deliver another chartbuster in "Mia Mia".

3. "Yamaho Yama" - Film: "Chirutha". The song, sung by Tipu, has slid down to the third place. A bilingual number, it has a lively, loud youthful feel.

4. "Regumullole" - Film: "Chandamama". K.M. Radhakrishnan's composition, sung by Karthik, M.M. Srilekha and Noyel, has a classical and folk feel.

5. "Rubbaru Gajjulu" - Film: Yamadonga. Though is has slid to number five, the song continues to be on the top five list. Composer M.M. Keeravani gets bhangra king Daler Mehandi to croon it. Keeravani has scored the music keeping in mind Daler's singing style.

Siva Reddy and VijayaLakshmi’s Anandalahari in Los Angeles on Saturday October 13th 2007 was an exciting blend of music and comedy that had the 600 plus capacity crowd perfectly delighted and entertained. This event is organized by Ravi Koneru of Chakra Foundation and LAtelugu.com to raise Funds and promote Society for Rural Scholars (www.indiansprings.in), a non-profit Organization based in Guntur AP. The Society was created with a motto: “A foundation investing in promising futures” by helping the economically backward rural children and youth for their education at various levels. All the proceeds of this event including the food stall sales will be directed to the Society.

Now she got a call for 5 day shooting that fetches her Rs 50 lakh. Shriya made her eyes big with happiness and didn't think for second time. She simply signed on the papers without bothering about the hero as well. He is Vadivelu and the film is a Tamil one, 'Indralogathil Naa Azhagappan'.

Shriya appears to be very intelligent in agreeing for films. All that matters for Shriya is just currency. She is ready with any one in industry to pair up. It is said that she acted with Vadivelu for a song and a couple of scenes for the film.

Rumors: Babu gets inspiration from Rajnikant

It seems film actor Rajnikant's Shivaji has inspired former chief minister and Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu. Otherwise he will not do a Rajani act ala Shivaji.

Addressing a media conference at NTR Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Chandrababu Naidu declared that Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and his son YS Jaganmohan Reddy had floated a firm in Maritius and purchased shares of an Indian company through the Maritius firm to convert the allegedly ill-gotten money into legal assets.

Rajanikant exactly does this in his famous film Shivaji. Chandrababu Naidu himself watched the movie along with the film actor. Perhaps he got a cue from the film. So he attributed the money transfer to the chief minister. It is not clear whether the firm had anything to do with the chief minister's family. Even Chandrababu Naidu does not have proof to support his allegation. But since he has been inspired by the Rajani movie, he thinks what he says is true and people will follow him blindly.

Reel Talk: Athidhi Black Tickets At Rs.500

Now the tickets season started for 'Athidhi'. As the film is releasing day after tomorrow, the tickets lobbying has ignited. Easy movies counter people are booking all the tickets in some center in advance with a plan to sell on premium rates. Even a few theater owners are doing the same. The estimated price of ticket on first day is Rs 500.

But on the other hand there is a talk that expectations are big on the film and hence until and unless it comes out really well, the film wouldn't do well eventually. One source says that inside talk of the film is good. Other source says that it is good but how far it meets expectations has to be seen.

Another interesting factor is that Mahesh Babu Fans are only going to tantamount the film with Pokiri. They are not talking about Sainikudu any way.

Sekhar Kammula: 'This Is My Highest Grosser So Far'

He had thought provokingly knocked the brains with 'Dollar Dreams'. He gently knocked the hearts with 'Anand'. He pleasantly touched the senses with ' Godavari'. And now he unleashed the way to make big business with small investment and rich idea called 'Happy Days'. He is Sekhar Kammula, the renowned director with different substance.

He says the fresh film 'Happy Days' has crossed his expectations completely.

"This is the highest grosser in my filmography so far. It's houseful everywhere. Numbers would be deceptive in first week. But it's true now. Devi, the biggest theatre in RTC cross roads is screening this film. Even the big films dare less to release in this film as it becomes difficult to continue their stand for many days. But 'Happy Days', out of my surprise, is running housefuls in that even in second week. That's really fantastic. Many are saying that it's going to be 150 days film. It's almost in 10 theaters in Hyderabad like a big film", shared Sekhar Kammula.

He also added saying, "It's like a big wave in Vizag, Kakinada and many other towns. We didn't expect this range initially. Audiences are always beyond film makers and reviewers. That's proved once again".

Sekhar Kammula also said that he is yet to think about his next film and it takes time to write that.

Mohan Babu: 'Vishnu Learned Fights At Jackie Chan'

Mohan Babu says that Jackie Chan taught stunts for his sons Vishnu and Manoj. He said, "Vishnu likes to fight on screen. He loves action episodes. He is now acting with lot of interest in this new film. He learnt some action sequences at Jackie Chan. Even Manoj learnt at him when he came to India. Vishnu is now jumping from 100 feet height without dupe. So we brought imported air beds for these sequences".

P Vasu is directing the film and right now the shooting is going on in Tirupathi. Stun Shiva is composing action scenes.

Puri liked the Kannada actress Sanjana and pulled her to make her act in his film 'Bujjigadu made in Chennai' beside Prabhas.

The actress has shown 95 percent of her skin in the film 'Gandi Hendathi', a Kannada flick. That was the remake of Hindi film 'Murder'. Sanjana played Mallika Sherawat's role while Tilak played the role of Imraan Hashmi in that. Now that is getting dubbed into Telugu to release. The title is confirmed to be 'Mogudu Pellam Oka Boy Friend'.

He is Kalyan, popularly known as Kalamandir Kalyan. Whenever a new heroine comes to industry he calls her for the opening of some section of Kalamandir showroom. He pays them big money as Naivedyam. He also gifts them with saris and some jewelry as a devotee donates for the idols of gods and goddesses. Knowing this, heroines are also awaiting call from this devotee.

He paid Rs 2 lakhs for Anushka and Rs 1.5 lakh for Hansika- just for visiting his shop. He simply invites them and gives this big package of gifts. He expects nothing else from them in return. Is that not a real devotion!!!!!

Here there is another interesting twist. Some of the heroines are ready to visit Kalamandir to get stamp that they are invited by Kalamandir Kalyan. That's a status symbol for them-so some of them are not expecting money from Kalyan.

Interview with Vijay C Kumar

Those who know cinematographer Vijay C Kumar in the film fraternity may tag him as an introvert, but what speaks volumes about him is his work. After having worked for the first extensive CG film ‘Ammoru’ he teamed up with Sekhar Kammula for Anand, Godavari and recently for Happy Days and captured finest scenes with the third eye. An exclusive interview with this creative cinematographer of Telugu film industry.

Background:
My father C Nageswara Rao was a famous cinematographer who worked for classics like Pandava Vanavasam, Paramanandayya Sishyula Katha, Gudigantalu, Aastulu - Anthastulu etc. But he died when I was seven years old and my mother wanted me to follow his footsteps and continue in the same profession. She joined me in Sarada Enterprises (currently known as Anand Cine Services) outdoor unit at the age of 13 as an apprentice. I worked under various cinematographers for eight years and earned lot of practical knowledge. Then I joined as an operative cameraman under Lok Singh for Vijetha film.

Producer Jaya Krishna gave me first break as cinematographer with 'Aha Naa Pellanta' film under Jandhyala director. Then I did 'Neeku Naaku Pellanta' with the same combination. I got a gap of one and half year after that. Then Shyam Prasad offered me to do unfinished work of Ankusam (official cinematographer was KS Hari). Then I worked for Agraham and Ammoru. Later on I worked for various films like Bachelors, Sampangi, Sreevarante Mavare, Jai Bhajaranga Bhali etc. Then I got some more gap. That was when I met Sekhar Kammula and he offered me Dollar Dream. Since then I was part of all his films. Later I did Dil, Andhrudu and Samanyudu.

Tell us about Ammoru?
Ammoru was the first Telugu film in which extensive graphics were used. We used blue mat for graphic related shots. I had to be very careful about the lighting for those shots.

What kind of ground work do you do when you get a project?
The photography should reflect the subject. I try to gauge the mood of the film and the scope of photography. Then we decide on the equipment and lighting schemes. Sekhar Kammula always encouraged me to experiment and let me take my own time.

Do you think you can do good work if given more time?
It depends on the sequence and situation. And weather should cooperate when we shoot out doors. For Happy Days we used backlight technique which lets us concentrate on the subject (person) and ignore the background. We shot most of the Anand film with sunrise effect. Generally sunrise stays for five minutes. We used artificial lighting with orange tint using window lights. For Godavari, it was a much difficult task as we shot it without using reflectors. It was difficult to adjust lights when we shoot using multiple boats. It was the toughest job of my life to shoot Godavari across the river for 3 months.

Which one is your favorite film among the ones you had done?
Happy Days. We used tele photography for that film. We used hawk zoom lens (300 - 900mm). It elevates the subject against the backdrop.

Why do you maintain such a low profile?
I am very bad at PR. I don't approach producers. I accept the projects that come in my way in a selective manner.

Why is there a demand for Tamil cinematographers in Telugu film industry?
It is completely up to the producer and director. The Tamil producers and directors give more preference to the technicians and that is the reason why Tamil films have rich technical values compared to Telugu films. We rarely get technically brilliant Telugu films. Our producers want us to finish the shooting as soon as possible. We do not get quality if producer want to wrap the movie up in minimum number of days.

How do you keep yourself updated about technology in cinematography?
I believe in the practical experience. I spent many years working under various talented cinematographers. I learn a lot about exposure, lighting schemes, cameras, lens from them and it helps a lot.

What is photography?
Photography is an art and a cinematographer should have an artistic bent to excel in his field. We should be able to generate maximum output using minimal resources. One should know how to create and capture mood using right lighting.

Who is your favorite cinematographer?
PC Sreeram and Govind Nihlani.

What is your future projects?
I am currently doing Nitin's film in the direction of Ravi C Kumar.

Do you have any suggestions for wannabe cinematographers?
One should have practical knowledge. One should study about equipment and lighting scheme besides having artistic bent of mind.

Telugu heroine Soumya enters into Tamil

Vizag based Telugu actress Soumya is flooded with interesting film offers. She got noticed in various films ("The Angrez", "Aa Roje) and Soumya has good line up of films that will ensure her to get a good foothold in the film industry. Sowmya has signed two Telugu films which are currently under progress. She has "Ninna Nedu Repu" and "Call Centre", a film by Kanmani in Telugu. She is also entering into Tamil films. In a Tamil film called "Tozha", the charming heroine acts as one of the lead roles.

Vishnu does dare devil action stunt

The success of "Dhee" brought Vishnu new level of confidence. For his new film, he does a risky dare devil action sequence without any dupe or assistance. This is said to be most dangerous stunt and he performed with such finesse that everyone left gaping with awe. This happened during the shooting of his current film being directed by P Vasu at Tirupathi. Fight master Stun Shiva has composed a terrific action scene and special airbeds have been imported for this scene.

Bhumika to continue acting after marriage

Bhumika is getting married to her long time boyfriend Bharat Thakur on October 25th at her residence in Mumbai. She has already been preparing for wedding. Even after marriage, she has no plans of discontinuing her acting career. Indeed, she wants to have a flourishing career like Bollywood heroines. Marriage is not a hindrance for career, she believes. Bhumika has many interesting films on her hand presently both in Telugu and in Hindi.

Jagapathi Babu in Venkat Akkineni's film

Nagarjuna's brother Venkat Akkineni is a popular producer. He made successful films like "Shiva" on Annapoorna Studios banner. Venkat Akkineni presently takes up direction and he is going to make this film for outside banner – "Gemini Film Circuits". Jagapathi Babu is the hero. From January, regular shooting will begin.

Gadde Veerabrahmam Forecasted Chiranjeevi

Had anyone bothered about Ravi Teja when he acted in the group behind Rajasekhar? But he became a bigger star than Rajasekhar in eventual years. Had anyone expected 'Raasi' would become a heroine when she was shown in 'Rao Garillu' as child artiste? But she shined on screen for sometime.

Similarly we all know that no one bothered about Chiranjeevi and none expected something big awaiting him when he acted in Pranam Khareedu and Punadi Rallu. But there was a man with intuition in Guntur district with the name Gadde Veerabrahmam who used to tell something that certainly goes to happen. He said, "There was a man in the group acted for 'Manavoori Pandavulu'. I asked some one and he said his name is Chiranjeevi. His eyes are very sharp. My intuition says he will rule the industry for many years. I feel he will be next to NTR in history of Telugu film industry in many aspects".

That's the future unveiled by Veerabrahmam about 30 years ago. He is no more now but it is said that he also said that Chiranjeevi would spend later stage of his life in service to people. Will that be through politics? Or quite personal has to be seen.

Reel Talk: Jayaprada Complex Hired For Athidhi

Now it's the talk of 'Athidhi' everywhere. Incredibly it is releasing in 712 theaters world wide which is a big record. The biggest plus point for this film is that it is releasing during dasara festivals. It's beyond imagination to estimate the first day collections of this film.

Coming to the point, Athidhi is releasing in Jayaprada Complex of Chennai. The theatre is booked at very huge rent that ran into a few lakhs. It is considered to be a 3 week minimum guarantee film there. It is known fact that that the theater belongs to actress Jayaprada. The film is releasing there with 'Pokiri' sentiment.

Pokiri released in that theater and has broken all the earlier collection records of all Telugu films released in Chennai.

Let us se how far it meets the expectations now.

Kalyan Ram Worried And Running Behind Him

Kalyan Ram is deeply worried now. Except his 'Athanokkadey', he hasn't seen hit till now in his career. His films 'Asadhyudu', Lakshmi Kalyanam' and 'Vijayadasami' have flopped at box office. On the other hand his cousin NTR is dashing in Tollywood.

Kalyan Ram is not happy with any of the directors other than Surender Reddy. Grapevine says that the combination is going to come up after 'Athanokkadey'. Rumor says that Kalyan Ram is unhappy with Samudra for making 'Vijayadasami' in out dated style that killed it on a whole.

Surender Reddy is now busy with 'Athidhi' aspects. We have to see if Surender Reddy works for Kalyan Ram immediately.

Box-Office: On An Average It's A Better Week

1. Happy Days: The film is still going unbeatable and theaters are still seen with housefuls. The film proved to be tremendous hit at home and abroad. Sekhar Kammula proved his mettle once again and the film sits in position-1 of the toppers list of the week.

2. Tulasi : The film bagged big opening collections, it being the film of a big star. The talk on the film is now divided everywhere. But Venkatesh's films run well if the positive talk is at least somewhere. The film is made with full commercial punch targeting all sets of audiences. The film sits in position-2 of the toppers list of the week.

3. Chiruta: There is some drop in the collections everywhere. Except weekends, the other days are not seen housefuls. 5. Yamadonga: The collections have come down drastically but still surviving in some theaters. Although 50 day run proved to be an easy walk for this film, the run towards 100 days proves to be very difficult. The competition from new films also disturbed the tempo of this flick. Spotlight: Only 12 Audiences For 'Pellaindi Kaani'

It sounds shocking and fretful to know that the opening day of a big director's film could attract on 12 audiences in theatre. That's EVV's 'Pellaindi Kaani'. On the release day of the film there were only 12 audiences in matinee show at the Raghavendra Theatre in Malkajgiri. Who should be blamed for this? Producer Narasimha Rao of Raasi Movies should be pointed out for this. There is no proper publicity campaign for his film and that too released along with big mass masala film 'Tulasi'.

The film got totally killed with the stuff in that as well. EVV's audiences are different and they are not relishing this flick. The much expected comedy in the film is missing for the displeasure of mass audience. Allari Naresh portrayed serious role in it. Kamalini and Harish also couldn't appeal to masses.

For all reasons, It ended up as a disaster.

Hyderabad Buzz: Cine-goers turn skeptical!

Hyderabad: The Ludhiana multiplex blast had its impact on cine-goers in the city on Monday with the usually teeming cinema theatres wearing a deserted look.

Santosh-Sapna, Abids, received poor collections due to Sunday’s blast. “The impact of the blast was visible. Though Sapna’s seating capacity is 696, only 400 seats were filled during the matinee show, while at the 1,050-seat Santosh, not even 200 seats were occupied,” Santosh-Sapna general manager Mohammad Suleman Khan told media.

“The twin blasts still haunt Hyderabadis. And, the repeated checks by police too are affecting the collections,” Mohammad Suleman Khan added.

“Our collections dipped after the twin blasts. To instill confidence in our patrons, we have installed a door frame metal detector (DFMD), but still we are not getting our average collections,” Vijayalakshmi theatre proprietor P Paramesh said.

Meanwhile, the city police have intensified surprise checks on various theatres in view of the Ludhiana blast.

I don't miss Twenty20 cricket: Sourav Ganguly

Mumbai, Oct 16 (IANS) Sourav Ganguly's explosive batting style - which he rediscovered in the Nagpur ODI against Australia - would have made him a successful batsman in Twenty20 cricket, but the former Indian captain says he doesn't miss the newest and fastest version of the game.

"I don't think I miss Twenty20 cricket. I don't know what it would have been if this kind of cricket was introduced during my younger days. But now I don't think I would have really missed it," Ganguly told IANS in an interview here.

Ganguly along with Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid - known as the 'Big 3' of Team India - made themselves unavailable for the Twenty20 World Cup. Their non-availability put wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the hot seat of captaincy. Dhoni led a bunch of young players to victory at the inaugural world championship of the newest form of cricket in South Africa.

That win gave India some of its future stars, who rose to the occasion when it mattered the most. They beat Pakistan in a nerve biting finish at the final, and the squad is now tipped to be the future of Indian cricket.

"I think this team has all the ingredients to be the world champions. The new guys are really good and they all are talented and will do the country proud in the coming days," said Ganguly, who won the best captain in 75 years of Indian Test cricket award.

Ganguly beat some of the biggest names of Indian cricket like Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Sunil Gavsakar and the late C.K. Nayudu and late Vinoo Mankad for the prestigious award.

"It is a great honour to be adjudged as the best captain of 75 years of Indian Test cricket. My best success as a captain, I think, will always remain beating Pakistan in their home in 2004," said Ganguly.

India defeated Pakistan for the first time on their soil to win a Test series in March 2004. The series was also memorable because Virender Sehwag became the first Indian to score a triple century with a solid knock of 309.

Ganguly had words of praise for Dhoni and said the 26-year-old should be given more time to click.

"I am sure he will take India to new cricketing heights. The only thing he lacks is experience and he should be given more time to gain it," said Ganguly.

On his role in the Indian team as a senior player, Ganguly said: "The only thing I have to do is to keep on performing. I have to keep on scoring runs.

"Performance and not age should be the criteria for selection in the team," he said.

Sachin back into top 10 ODI batsmen rankings

DUBAI(ANI): Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has moved back into the top 10 of the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings for One-Day International (ODI) batsmen. In the latest rankings issued on Monday, Sachin moved up three places to sit at joint 9th, alongside Chris Gayle of the West Indies.

He is the only Indian batsman in the top 10. Vice-captain Yuvraj Singh is at 15th place, while captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni occupies the 16th position.

On the debit side of the ledger, however, former captain Rahul Dravid has slipped seven places and is now lies in 22nd place. India's highest-placed bowler in the relevant table is Harbhajan Singh, down in 29th position.

Australia's Andrew Symonds is within touching distance of top spot in the ODI batsmen rankings.

The powerful right-hander, who bludgeoned a brutal 107 from just 88 balls against India in Nagpur on Sunday, has rocketed up six spots to second place and is now just eight rating points behind his captain and team-mate Ricky Ponting.

That rise is a reflection of his outstanding form during the ongoing series as he is the leading run-scorer from either side with 365 runs at an average of 91.25 and a strike-rate of 110.94 runs per hundred balls.

Symonds, who has reached a career-high tally of rating points, forms an impressive Australian 1-2-3 at the top of the batting table, behind Ponting but ahead of Matthew Hayden, the winner of the ODI Player of the Year award at the ICC Awards in September and the second highest run-getter in the current series.

Three other Australians are in the top 11 - Michael Hussey (5th), Michael Clarke (8th) and Adam Gilchrist (11th).

The news is just as good for Ponting's men in the bowling list with left-arm wrist spinner Brad Hogg breaking into the top 10 on the back of being joint leading wicket-taker (alongside team-mate Mitchell Johnson) in the India series with 11 victims.

Hogg is one of three Australia bowlers in that top 10 with Nathan Bracken (3rd) and Brett Lee (9th) also featuring.

This was the incident happened in Kukatpally region couple of days ago. A 20 year old guy and a middle aged man were in a hotel while the former said in loud voice, "The camera print DVD of 'Chirutha' is in market now". Then the elder person reprimanded the boy saying, "Don't talk nonsense in public. Our own talkativeness' brings problems for us. Don't I know about that? Keep your mouth shut".

Reel Talk: First Telugu Dubbing Of Nazar!

Nazar is the most talented character actor on South Indian screen. He never gave his own dubbing for any Telugu film so far. But for the first time he attempted dubbing in Telugu film for his character in ‘Mee Sreyobhilashi’ that is being made on the banner of CC Reddy.

Nazar said that he wishes to act with his own voice from now onwards. He added, “I have been acting with some other’s voice all these days as I don’t know Telugu. But now I’m speaking Telugu comfortably. So there wouldn’t be any problem for me. It’s director V Eeshwar Reddy’s encouragement that pushed me to attempt dubbing boldly”.

The response is overwhelming and I am delighted. I was initially skeptical if people would accept my character. Sekhar Kammula asked me to show variations in my role through my voice and diction to convince audiences that I am a studious guy. I did not expect such a great response for character in this film. Happy Days talks about values of friendship and positive thinking. I am happy that Happy Days is creating history at all film theaters and young crowds are watching this film together again and again.

What did Sekhar tell you when you are given this character?
He said that I would be loving a senior girl and should propose her. I should neither be rude not curt while doing so. I should appear like I die for that girl, and retain my own confidence and decorum at the same time.

I never wore glasses in my life. And I was not used to a grown beard. But I had to do both these things as my character demanded it.

To tell you frankly I was disappointed when Sekhar offered me this role. But I realized the depth and specialty of the character only after I started acting in the film.

Don't you think that you will be typecast for this kind of 'sympathy-seeking' roles in the future?
No. People over here are broadminded. Good acting coupled with hard work is always appreciated in Telugu film industry. It is true that I did a de-glamorized role in Happy Days, but I am confident of doing glamorized roles in the future. Happy Days gave me confidence that I could do justice to my work.

What are the best scenes for you?
From the response of audience: Terrace scene in which I say 'Enthaina mana friend kadaraa'.
For me: The scene in which Sravanthi leaves me in rain. It was a difficult one to do.

Do people recognize you when you walk on the streets?
Yes. They know me as Tyson. They don't know my real name. When I did a chat program on Radio Mirchi, around 600 girls called me up in a span of two hours. I realized that I got lot of female following with Tyson character. I was stunned.

What is the reaction of your parents?
My parents expected me to do a decent job. But they are shell-shocked with my performance in the film. Sekhar told me that my parents were in for a shock when they saw me on the screen.

Do you follow senior girls in real life too?
I am too shy to meet the girls of my age. Right now I am focused with my work.

Were you insecure about yourself when you had to work with 3 more guys in Happy Days?
Yes, in the beginning of the shoot I was insecure. But as the movie progressed, I realized that my character is beautifully sketched and it is going to hog the limelight. Tyson character is all about inner beauty.

What are your future projects?
I am currently enjoying the success. I am currently in the process of improving my physique, learning dances and martial arts. I am honing my skills to become a commercial hero. I want to change my image as an angry young man when I act in my next film.

Ramesh Babu With Mahesh Babu In ‘Mirchi’

The film ‘Mirchi’ is going to be made with many sensational aspects. The highlight of this project is that it is being directed by young debut director Jasti Hemamber Alias Bulli. The caption for this title is ‘Veedu Chaala Hot Guru’.

The other interesting factor is that Trivikram Sreenivas is penning the dialogues for it. Trivikram himself said that Mahesh Babu is going to appear like ‘red hot Guntur Mirchi’ in this film.

Dhoni: We're not clicking as a team

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that poor performance in all the departments of the game was the main reason behind his team's series loss in the Future Cup here Sunday.

"I think we never performed well in any aspect of cricket- batting, bowling or fielding. The only time we did play well was in Chandigarh when we did well and won the match," said Dhoni, after his team lost by 18 runs to Australia in the sixth One-Day International (ODI).

India managed their only win in Chandigarh, while they lost matches at Kochi, Hyderabad, Vadodara and here at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) ground.

The first match in Bangalore was washed out due to rain. The last match will be held in Mumbai Wednesday.

For India, the sixth ODI here was a do-or-die match, as they needed a win to keep their hopes alive in the series.

Andrew Symond's brilliant 107 not out dashed India's hope of a come back in the series.

"We lost couple of wickets at wrong moments. Sachin and Sourav got out at the wrong time and we never got any partnership going. The asking rate was always high and it becomes difficult for a new batsman to come in and chase at a high rate," said Dhoni.

The only two partnerships India had was the 140-run opening stand between Ganguly (86) and Tendulkar (72) and 72-run sixth wicket partnership between Dhoni (26) and Robin Uthappa (44).

"When I and Robin were batting the asking rate touched 10 and it was really difficult for us to come back into the game," said Dhoni.

Rahul Dravid's poor performance with the bat continued here as well but Dhoni didn't seem to be bothered about it.

"He is going through a tough time. But it happens with all batsmen. It has happened to Sachin and me too. It is not an issue and he will be back in form," said the Indian captain.

Dhoni also had words of praise for Australian left-arm spinner Brad Hogg, who picked up four wickets in the match.

"He was the most crucial bowler for the Aussies. Ricky Ponting never used him when the power plays were on. And so it was very difficult to get runs out of him," said Dhoni.

Australian captain Ponting also praised Hogg for the performance.

Ponting said: "317-318 was really a good total on this ground. The wicket was good and the field was lightning fast. In the break I said that my spinners have to bowl well and that made the difference as we pulled back the runs in the middle overs."

"We have a number of contributions and Hogg made a significant contribution. We can't single out anyone as (Mitchell) Johnson and (Brett) Lee were also good in the series," said Ponting.

"It has been a good contest and today was really good one. We got the wickets when we needed. Game can change very quickly in this part of the world," he said.

"Today we kept partnerships going and Symonds played a sensible innings today. I think his innings was the defining moment. He has been confident and has been a changed player from what he was five-six years ago," said the Australian captain.

Symonds himself was proud of his innings, which was a deathblow to the Indians.

"I didn't see the innings so I can't say about it. I just played it. And it really feels good to win the series and I am also proud of the group," said the burly right-handed batsman.

"It was a special innings and I am really proud about it."
