Chitchat with Sonia

Sonia who played the character of Shravs in Happy Days was like any other girl in her early twenties, till she was spotted by Shekar Kammula few months back. The twenty-three-year-old IT girl is the latest find of Telugu film industry and she oozes confidence coupled with exuberant smile. Running high on success after Happy Days she shares her future plans. Excerpts:

Tell us about your background?
I am born and brought up in Hyderabad, equipped with a degree in computer applications. I have been working as a software engineer for the last three years in an IT company. I don’t have any filmy background.

How did you get into Happy Days project?
I used to participate in few events during my leisure time. Shekar Kammula spotted me during the Telugu cinema vajrostavalu. Then he called me for an audition. Initially, I was offered the role of Appu. He gave the script and asked me to understand the character and then come for the audition. After looking at my performance, he offered me the role of Shravs.

How did you interpret the character?
I was as natural as I could be. I was never into acting/dramatics. Sekhar Kammula asked me to do it my own way. My histrionics in Happy Days was my own interpretation of the character and the way I read in the script.

You seem to be the elder one among the main leads who worked for Happy Days. How did they treat you?
I am 23 and I am the oldest among the main leads in Happy Days. Initially they thought that I was dominant. Slowly all of us bonded with each other very well. I shared room with Gayatri Rao (Appu) during the shoot. We had no problems at all.

What are your favorite scenes in this film?
The scene in which Rajesh says 'ee kodento' and the other scenes in which Tyson says 'enthaina mana friend kadara'.

Are there any similarities to Shravs character and your real self?
Yes. There is Shravs in me. I don't throw much attitude around, but there is definitely attitude in me. I take some time for me to mingle with new friends.

Did you get any proposals from your juniors in college time?
I was a quite girl then. I used to wear Salwar and Kameez. After college I transformed into western outfits.

How is the response for your performance in Happy Days?
The first feedback I got was through Jeevi review in idlebrain.com. I missed all the excitement because I was in the USA for three months after the release.

How did your family respond?
They were little skeptical and anxious about it first. But they felt really happy after watching the film.

What are you hobbies?
I love reading books. Godfather is my all time favorite. I love spending time with friends and traveling. I love writing too.

What are your favorite films?
Among the Telugu films I loved Bommarillu and Pokiri. My all time classic film is 'Sound of Music".

What do you think are your strengths?
I am confident. I can bring smile to the people's faces.

How do you feel when the public recognize you as a film actress?
I feel flattered.

What kind of roles would you want to do in future?
I want to do roles that generate a positive impact with characterizations.

What are your future projects?
Since I was in USA for 3 months after release, most of the filmmakers assumed that I went to the USA forever. Now I am back and I am interested doing good roles.

What are your future plans?
I will be quitting my job soon. I keep my options open in movies. I want to do my own business in entertainment line. I might open a restaurant or a flower shop.

Reel Buzz: Why Attacks Only On Balakrishna?

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/okkamagadu11199523805.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

After the incident of Paruchuru the same incident took place in Ongole as well. The face of Balakrishna was taken away from the cut out of 'Okka Magadu' at these places. Why these attacks are only on Balakrishna?

There is ample fan-base for Balakrishna and it is obvious that it is the act of his antagonists who can be the fans of other hero. But such acts are hurting the sentiments of Balayya fans. No only the street-side guys but also a few learned people have made attacks on Balakrishna during the release of 'Veerabhadra' and 'Maharadhi'. Many of jokes and cartoons were circulated among the internet users those days. Now such attacks were minimized to large extent and that is a healthy change.

Balakrishna started getting this antagonism ever since the 'shooting' episode at his house. But he has been striving a lot to get back his image and to be in good books of everyone. His well-behaved manner at 75-years Platinum Jubilee function of Tollywood impressed everyone. But still there is black sheep among film buffs who are spitting venom on a few stars for no concrete reason. Let us hope that this scenario changes and all the film buffs walk from darkness to light- 'Tamasoma Jyothirgamaya'.

Snippet: Kalyanram Makes Double Role Debut!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/kalyanram1199519247.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Actor Kalyan Ram who is almost on the brink of stardom's end has been working very hard to get back to the race.

His recent film 'Vijayadasami' failed to impress at the box office and now he is working on a new film wherein he is doing a double role. This is the first time he is doing a dual role and the film is directed by Harsha Vardhan and produced by Janaki Ram who happens to be Kalyan's brother.

While the other details of the film are not known, Priyamani will be playing the lead role as heroine. The shoot is currently on at Hyderabad.

The Man Who Deceived Pawan Kalyan

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/pawankalyan21199519593.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

It's not Nalla Suryaprakasa Rao who deceived Pawan Kalyan by releasing the photographs of him with BSP leaders. The man behind is Masterjee, the lyricist. Masterjee was a clerk in FCI (Food Corporation of India) who is an SC. He is a good poet in Gaddar school of thought and approached Pawan Kalyan with a few songs. He was introduced in 'Johnny' with the song 'Naraju gaakura maa Annayo..'. Then the relation between Masterjee and Pawan Kalyan was tightened. Hence he got another chance to write the song 'Killi Killi Killi..' in 'Gudumba Shankar'.

Sources say that Masterjee is very shrewd but opportunist as well. He is opportunist only in one matter. He moves close with Scs while fighting for 'rights' and joins OCs while earning a few bucks, say sources. Apart from that he is very good at heart, add sources.

Once, Masterjee took Pawan Kalyan to Gaddar. Pawan Kalyan considered Masterjee and Gaddar only as singing artistes and poets. But eventually Masterjee thought to show his mettle by saying that Pawan Klayan is behind him while talking to BSP leaders recently. They asked Masterjee to bring Pawan Kalyan to their meeting in an informal way. As usual, as Masterjee took Pawan to Gaddar earlier, he took him to BSP leaders as well. A few photographs were taken that day. And now they are used by Nalla Suryaparakasha Rao stating that Pawan came to them to join hands.

Sources also said that Pawan screwed Masterjee verbally after this incident. So, the real man behind deceiving Pawan Kalyan is Masterjee, who acted too smart and dragged him to BSP imbroglio.

Choreographer Turned Director Slapped Producer?

There is a gossip that is making rounds now in the Film Nagar. Even a TV channel reported the same saying that a director slapped the producer as a strife developed between them.

And another source said that the director was a choreographer as well. The gossip said that the director slapped his producer as the latter reprimanded him for making the film a flop despite spending big amount on that. If that is the case there are only two choreographers turned directors now those made 'not up to the mark films' despite high budget.

One is Lawrence who made 'Don' in the production of ML Kumar Choudary and the other is Amma Rajasekhar who made 'Takkari' in the production of Paruchuri Prasad. There is no confirmation in the news and the imagination is left to the discretion of people.

Chiranjeevi Should Be Balanced While Speaking

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/megastar11199485939.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

"Chiranjeevi should learn to be balanced while speaking. He is yet to master that, it appears. He gave arrogant answer to a question. When asked about the people those are saying about his political entry in confirmed way, Chiru said, "Are they that shrewd and great to know what is their in my mind? Are they saying that reading everything from my mind?"

This has given negative signal for many. Although there is no direct arrogance in that answer, it gives that flavor", said a TDP leader this morning in an informal discussion.

That is really true to some extent. Media is too sensitive that it highlights only such statements.

Chiranjeevi is known for indelible smile on his face. He maintained that and bagged good name. Now it is a big task for him to maintain pleasant talk all the while without becoming volatile for small things.

First time ever USA record: Happy Days 100 Days

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/happydays11199485101.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

For the first time ever in overseas cinema history a Telugu movie ran continuously for 100 days in USA. Sekhar Kammula’s Happy Days opened on Septemeber 28th in USA ( 4 days before it opened in India on October 2nd). It opened with a bang and collected the highest opening collections for any telugu movie till date in USA. Now Happy days creates another record. Happy Days is being exhibited in Dallas, Touring Talkies Theaters with no interruption from September 28th and completes 100 days run tomorrow, the Saturday, January 5th. Typically in USA the movies are screened over the weekends and occasionally on weekdays. Even big hits run in major cities for a maximum of 4-5 weeks. But this is the first time a Telugu movie was screened for all 100 days with 3 shows per day. It is also believed that this is the first ever 100 days run for any Indian movie overseas. Melodious music, Nostalgic elements and freshness made Happy Days a clean family entertainer. It is matter of pride for every telugu person and it shows the following Sekhar Kammula has with NRIs.

Touring Talkies, thanks all the patrons for this big mile stone and invites all Happy Days fans for a FREE SHOW at 9:30 pm on Saturday, January 5th. Please come, participate in 100 days celebrations and enjoy Happy Days again !!

Genelia's 'Pepper', Raja's 'Trixy' and Neelakanta's 'Tipsy'

http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/genelia1199467976.jpg

Well, those are the names of pet dogs. The common factor among Genelia, Neelakanta and Raja is love for pets. Out of all, Raja's 'Trixy' is a Labrador which is very well-behaved as said by the unit members of 'Mister Medhavi'. Yes, the unit members are very well familiar with Trixy. And they say about Genelai pet 'Pepper' which goes with its name. "It's hot like the heroine!!!" said a unit member.

"Pepper is always lovelorn for me. She turns red if I were absent at home for longer shooting schedules. I cannot miss her on my birthday", said Genelia.

Pepper came all the way from Mumbai for the birthday of Genelia when she was shooting for Mister Medhavi. And last but not least is Tipsy, the pet dog of director Neelakanta. Tipsy is a male and hence managed to flirt with Pepper and Trixy in a shrewd way. Obviously without letting Pepper and Trixy know about his double flirt game!!

Is that not interesting? Unit members say that they enjoyed a lot.

Chiru uses Nagendra to fire his first salvo

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/apadamokulavada1199500453.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Hyderabad: On Saturday, the bugle will sound. Chiranjeevi will open political fire. But, for now, he would use brother Nagendra Babu’s shoulder to do so.

A beaten-into-shape Nagendra would lead the cast in a highly-political film ‘Aapada Mokkula Vaadu’ (One who rescues the distressed, a reference to Lord Venkateshwara) to be released in as many as 15 theatres in the city. Here he dons the role of a small-time politician (ZPTC member) who takes on the political system that’s ‘off-track’.

“The movie will prepare the ground for Chiranjeevi to smoothly enter the political arena,” a close aide of director Posani Krishnamurali said. A TV interview scene is used to wish aloud Chiranjeevi’s entry into politics. “Chiranjeevi kooda politics lo vasthe prajala gundello nilichi pothadu (If Chiranjeevi enters politics, he will remain in the hearts of the people forever),” one of the characters says.

It was last year that Posani Krishnamurali had directed another political potboiler — ‘Operation Duryodhana’ — which ran to packed houses. The movie castigated politicians but so acerbic were the dialogues that the Censor Board had to step in. The director had to make 41 cuts and 20 subcuts before it was released. The latest movie also faced six-seven cuts and carries an ‘A’ certificate for violence.

“The movie is about how politics needs to change,” Posani said.

But, clearly, there appears to be a purpose in casting Chiranjeevi’s brother in the lead. Posani had declared publicly that he kept the Chiranjeevi in mind while moulding Nagendra’s character. Nagendra has been donning character roles in recent years after failing to make it big as a hero. But with his reduced flab and a role with ample opportunity to mouth powerful political dialogues, the actor, for all practical purposes, would be making the path clear for elder brother Chiranjeevi to take to the political battlefield.

Trade Talk: Experiments Won and Formulas Lost

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/anasuya_en21199512991.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Experimental film 'Mee Sreyobhilashi' was released last week and bagging impressive talk from a section of audience. But due to no great conviction in drama the film turned pale for many. As the attempt to give a message is good, the film is getting better response from class circles. However, collections are poor at box office.

'Bangaru Konda' bagged flop talk and the routine formula appeal in the film killed its scope to run for a few weeks in theatres. On the other hand the film 'Don' also crippled at box office. Although many attempts were made to push the film with artificial hype, things didn't work at all.

And the experimental thrillers 'Mantra' and 'Anasuya' turned hits and bagging considerable and consistent collections even after two weeks of release.

Ram Charan's 'Chirutha' made 100 days this week in 40 centers.

Keep off politics, YSR tells Chiru

http://static.ibnlive.com/pix/sitepix/02_2007/ysr_reddy.jpg

Now that it is more or less certain that Megastar Chiranjeevi will be floating a new political party, Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy has started his own efforts to prevent Chiru from venturing into politics.

On behalf of YSR, his aide and advisor K V P Ramachandra Rao went to the 10th day ceremony of Chiru's father late Konidela Venkat Rao and had a brief chat with the Megastar. Sources close to the Chief Minister say KVP had conveyed YSR's message to Chiru, which is loud and clear: "Please do not mess up the political atmosphere in the State by entering into politics."

According to these sources, YSR conveyed to Chiranjeevi that the latter would not gain anything by entering into politics at this stage, as the Congress is not facing any major anti-incumbency situation right now. In fact, the Congress is sitting pretty in most parts of the State, except in Telangana and some parts of Andhra. And if Chiranjeevi enters politics, he could only split the votes of all parties, resulting in a hung Assembly. Therefore, there is no possibility of Chiranjeevi coming to power on his own.

"So forget about politics. Seek whatever you want including land for a studio free cost. If you are interested in politics so much, join the Congress and I will see that you get elected to Rajya Sabha," YSR told Chiru. And the reply was a mere smile!!

Reel Buzz: Rajni to do Shankar’s Robot?

The hottest news that is making rounds in Kollywood is about the teaming up of superstar Rajnikanth and ace director Shankar for the second time.

According to sources the project is Shankar’s dream sci-fi venture Robot which he announced with Shah Rukh Khan a few months ago, since the subject required a national star. The project which was supposed to be produced under Shah Rukh Khan’s home banner Red Chillies was dropped for various logistic problems, which the director himself confirmed.

Now the buzz is that after the stupendous success of Sivaji, it became easier for Shankar to approach the superstar and it is believed that he also completed one sitting of the story narration. While Shankar has confirmed that talks are going on with the superstar, nothing has been finalised. The film is produced jointly by Mumbai-based Eros International and Ayngaran International, an association that was mediated by producer A.M.Ratnam.

If sources are to be believed, this could be the most expensive project ever made in the country. Shankar, who has clout in Mumbai, is trying to rope in the latest Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone to act opposite Rajnikanth. A.R. Rahman has been confirmed as music composer for the film. Official announcements, according to sources, will be made during the silver jubilee function of Sivaji.

Reel Buzz: Vulgar Abuses For Balakrishna!

Can Balakrishna be called 'Arey Saala'? Can he be called 'Sachchinoda and Tingaroda'? But the songs in Okka Magadu call him so. Leaving the situations of the song behind, the observation says that Balakrishna was abused with bad words. If that can be considered 'mass' and 'trendy' one can say nothing.

YVS Choudary is known for giving musical hits with his films. He has ample taste on music and lyrical values. Then why did he give vent for such abusing songs? Is that to attract the media attention?

One has to see how this film works out at the box office.

Chiranjeevi Wants To Confuse People and Win?

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/megastar21199436711.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Mega star Chiranjeevi has the ways and means of floating a political party and sustain it- Electoral victory or defeat notwithstanding. But the film actor, who is regarded as the Badshah of the Tollywood, has been dillydallying the issue and is in deep political dilemma on his future political plans.

Why? The answer is quite simple. Whether one likes it or not, the mega star is not mustering enough will-power and self-support to announce his political intentions. Or in other words, he is not politically strong enough to take a step this way or that way. The film star has set his eyes on the seat of the chief ministership and wants to grab it any way. But his dilemma is that he may have to bite the dust if he faces political and electoral defeat in the May 2009 elections. He wants a straight victory, which is very difficult to predict these days. The last celluloid person who could make political and electoral waves in the country was late NT Rama Rao. After him there's no charismatic leader enough to capture the hearts of voters.

The mega star knows this fully well. So he is releasing political trailers quite often dropping a hint or two about his political and electoral intentions. In the meantime, his brother Pawan Kalyan too had released a trailer about his plans to join the BSP.

This is all nothing but to confuse the voters. A confused voter cannot decide for whom he should vote. Chiru wants to win the polls through confused voters and not through enlightened electorate, as political analysts put out.

Hansika's Steroids Making Negative-Impact

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/hanikha21199438754.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Can you recall Hansika Motwani of Desamuduru fame? This chubby girl from Mumbai, who shot into fame with this film, has no major offers from Tollywood later. In fact she is currently acting with NTR in the film 'Kantri'.

Heard that Hansika's body has gone out of proportion these days and she has lost her sex-appeal. Reason is simple: She was only a 14-year old when she got into films (she was only in ninth class, when she made the debut) but to look more attractive and sexy and improve her assets, she got administered steroids. That has helped her to get some initial offers, but now, the same steroids have spoilt her appearance.

Previously, we came across such incidents. For instance, Deepa, who had a beautiful smile, also took steroids to artificially grow her assets, but subsequently, she could not maintain the figure and lost the chances. So was the case with Tulasi of Shankarabharanam fame. She too disappeared from the silver screen only because of steroids to become heroine overnight. Now, she is playing mother roles in television serials!! Same was the case with Raasi as well.

Pawan Kalyan Didn't Tonsure Due To Shooting

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chirufamily1199424171.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Chiranjeevi was seen without moustache for the first time in public. That was in respect of his father and that is known for all. Even Nagababu appeared with tonsured head for the same reason.

The only left out was Pawan Kalyan who didn't tonsure or shave. The reason was that he is still busy with the shooting of 'Jalsa' and if he goes with tradition and shaves his head, the shooting would postpone for two more months as the natural look would affect with artificial hair and wigs.

Inside sources say this and Pawan Kalyan participated very actively in the 'peda karma' of his father with devotion in his activities.

Reel Talk: D Rama Naidu enters Guinness book

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/ramanaidu1199432955.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Mumbai (IANS) Hyderabad-based filmmaker D. Rama Naidu has made it to the 2008 Guinness Book of World Records for having produced movies in nine languages.

Besides Telugu, his mother tongue, Naidu has made films in all other south Indian languages - Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada - plus in Hindi, English, Bengali, Oriya and Assamese, all under his banner Suresh Productions.

Naidu prefers to make his movies with artistes and technicians from different parts of India, rather than 'dubbing' in different languages.

He is not familiar with most of the languages in which he makes his movies. He believes that the language of the movie is universal.

Now Naidu has made a foray into the Marathi film industry with a new production, "Majhi Aai."

It is being directed by veteran Marathi filmmaker Kanchan Nayak, who last made a movie in Bhojpuri, "Pinjre Ki Maina".

In the 1990s, Naidu produced Hindi films on a regular basis. Of late, however, he is not as prolific in Bollywood. His last Hindi release was "Kuch Tum Kaho, Kuch Hum Kahein" in 2002.

Besides making movies, the veteran producer is also an active politician affiliated to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He represented the TDP in the Lok Sabha between 1999 and 2004.

Reel Buzz: AVS To Join With Chiranjeevi!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/avs1199435623.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

This is the fresh grapevine in Film Nagar. Sources say that AVS is planning to jump along with Chiranjeevi once he announces his party. So far, AVS was with TDP and worked a lot during 2004 elections. As the party lost he was kept away from them and branded him as iron-leg as well. Although AVS was no way connected for TDP's loss, the gossips have made rounds disturbing the peace of the screen-comedian and director.

AVS has been silent from quite a long time and associated with CC Reddy, who was in the same position of him with respect to Congress and made a film 'Room Mates'. But now, grapevine says that AVS is inclined towards Chiranjeevi and looking out for a chance to work for him if he gives a call.

Let us see the developments in coming 2-3 months.

Usha: 'What Chiranjeevi Can Do To AP?'

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/megastar11199432156.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

3 letters have started a new epoch in AP politics in 1983. It is needless to say that those letters are N T R. People praised to the skies that the era is going to be Rama Rajyam. Entire state was in mass hysteria. The screen god became the Chief Minister as a cake walk. But was there Rama Rajyam? If giving rice for Rs 2 a kilo can be termed as Rama Rajyam, yes that was Rama Rajyam. If giving a yellow shirt and green knickers for Rickshaw pullers were Rama Rajyam, yes, NTR's era was a Rama Rajyam. If announcing prohibition initially but later setting up Government Liquor Hubs with a great nomenclature 'Varuna Vahini' can be termed Rama Rajyam, yes that was Rama Rajyam. On a whole, it's the faith, following and mania those decide the righteousness of a person of leaders. N T R brought identity for Telugu and 'Telugu vari atmagouravam' in international scenario. That is true and holds no dispute. N T R brought that identity and confidence for 6 Cr-population. As a successor Chandrababu also brought identity for Andhra Pradesh as a hub for world standard software technology. One cannot raise finger in that aspect.

But no body is immune to vote bank politics. Be it NTR, Chandrababu, YSR -everybody is bending for vote bank politics. Indian political scenario is in such a miserable position that Rs 2 kilo rice is still a vote pulling mantra. Politicians are becoming millionaires, multi millionaires and reaching unbelievable height sin acquiring properties. But still they are pulling common man votes by throwing Rs 2 kilo rice. Which politician could become a statesman and change this scenario? People know only one thing. Chandrababu earned Rs 10,000 Cr in his political career. YSR earned a few thousand crores in his era. Jayalalitha is worth Rs 5000 Cr in Tamilnadu. Chidambaram is also worth Rs 2000 Cr as per grapevine. The funniest part is that many of Chowdharys are patting themselves saying Babu has Rs 10,000 Cr property and Reddy's are putting glowing faces saying YSR has Rs 20,000 Cr. What about the common man? He is still running for Rs 2 kilo rice. Where is development? Where is welfare? Elections have become a child's play in India.

Will Chiranjeevi change this scenario? Can he start a new epoch that stands impressive and inspiring? Can he become a real life Muta Mestri and Tagore for AP? Then his entry into politics would certainly make great sense.

Priyamani Fantasizes 'Bollywood-Calling'

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/priyamani1199408948.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Priyamani says that she is ready for 'Bollywood calling'. She appeared on the dais of Goa Film Festivals and chatted a while with Sharukh Khan. When she was asked by a few journalists to express her idea of acting in Bollywood films, she said, "If Bollywood calls, well, let us see if that materializes. I am open for that".

If Priyamani believes that chatting with SRK is equal to 'Bollywood Calling' and starts fantasizing, we cannot say anything. But Priyamani was on cloud 9 for that. She also said that she likes Shah Rukh Khan a lot and wishes to dance with him on screen if given a chance.

So, this hot south Indian actress is now aiming her senses at SRK and Bollywood. Let us see if 2008 brings her some luck in this angle.

Gossip: Manisha's item number for 15 lacks!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/manishakoirala1199413182.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

The last time this girl was down south, she delivered hits like Bombay, Criminal and Indian, but Manisha Koirala now seems to be far from hot property. This Nepali beauty is now doing an item number in a Telugu film for just Rs 15 lakhs.

The actress will be seen in a song in forthcoming Telugu film Nagaram, which will have Jagapathi Babu, Srikanth and debutant model Kaveri Jha.

“Manisha is going to be paid 15 lakh and she accepted the offer without much hesitation. She was, in fact, the first choice for the song,” says a source from Hyderabad.

While Manisha doing an item number might not be a bad idea, the fact is people from the north have always charged astronomical amounts when they come down south.

When Rakhi Sawant came down to sing Nanna Style Bere Ne in Geleya, she was paid over Rs 30 lakh. Mallika Sherawat got paid the highest amount at that time for an item number in India, which was Rs 50 lakh. Mumait Khan, the Dekh Le girl from Munnabhai MBBS, has done a lot of numbers down south, and recently even did a raunchy shoot for the scribes in Hyderabad.

The trend of getting big names from up north to do item numbers for southern films can be attributed to Manirathnam. If you can recall, we had Sonu Walia dancing with Rajnikanth in Rakamma Kaiyye Thattu in Dalapathi. Anu Agarwal and Sonali Bendre were then seen in films like Thiruda Thiruda and Bombay.

Coming back to the main subject of concern, Manisha Koirala seriously seems to be having a rotten deal, when all her contemporaries like Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Kajol are busy doing plum projects and planning their second innings in Bollywood. Let’s hope she finds her groove down south, at least!

Sania Mirza accused of insulting tricolour

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/sania1199381025.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Bhopal (IANS) A lawyer in Madhya Pradesh has filed a case here against tennis star Sania Mirza for allegedly dishonouring the national flag during her visit to Australia.

Sania, representing India at the Hopman Cup in Australia, has been caught on camera watching a match putting her feet right in front of the national flag of India.

Union Sports Minister Mani Shankar Iyer has also been made a party in the case.

"Sania got so much involved in watching the match that she forgot where her feet were, and what is the value of the tricolour in the heart of Indians. She should, therefore, be penalized," Raj Kumar Dubey, the petitioner, contended before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajay Shrivastava here.

Dubey urged the court that the sports minister should also be asked to enact a law to deal with rising number of incidents of insult to the national flag.

"Either the union minister should act to prevent recurrence of such incidents and inform the court accordingly, or we will act against the minister," Dubey told IANS.

The next date of hearing has been fixed Jan 7.

An analytic review of Chiru’s illustrious film career

The media, both print and television, is agog with the news that the Telugu mega star Chiranjeevi is entering politics. For nearly a week, major newspapers speculated his entry with front-page stories. Political parties apprehensively welcomed him and some even to their fold. Frenzied fans carried rallies and staged meetings in different cities of Andhra Pradesh. It was then that Chiranjeevi came out of his cocoon and sent press releases thanking his fans and well- wishers but advising them not to conduct any such rallies or meetings till he announces his decision. There again he left a note of speculation, will he or won’t he?

Chiranjeevi is known for analysing the pros and cons before taking a decision . He is aware of his image and the expectations. “When a star attains a certain position, a lot is expected of him. If the story is good, it will catch the eye. The images then become secondary. If the script is not up to the mark, the film will flop no matter how well I act,” opined the actor at an earlier interaction.

A very warm-hearted and sensitive person, he is respected and loved by his colleagues, both seniors and juniors. A self-made actor, his key to success is - determination, dedication and total devotion to his profession. In spite of being the most sought-after commercial hero, Chiranjeevi, being a film institute product, has the inner urge to do offbeat roles too. And the inspiring force is none other than Kamal Haasan. He once said, “When I saw Kamal Haasan’s performance in Swatimuthyam (directed by K. Vishwanath), I was so moved that the next day I felt ridiculous to utter the same old routine dialogues for one of my commercial blockbusters. When I couldn’t deliver the dialogue, the director advised me to take some rest. Suhasini, my co-star guessed the reason and told me, “You have already proved yourself as an actor. People have promoted you now to superstar status from an actor. Tell me how many superstars are around? Instead of enjoying the mass appeal, why do you worry about something you have already proved?” K. Vishwanath too expressed similar views and told me that every actor who can dance and fight cannot attain superstardom. “If you feel the monotony, see that some scenes are there to bring out your versatility besides the commercial ingredients that entertain your fans,’ he advised me. Then I overcame that fixation.” Chiranjeevi had his share of offbeat ventures too directed by Bharathi Raja (Aradhana), K. Vishwanath (Swayamkrushi and Aapadban-dhavudu) and K. Balachander (Rudraveena). He bagged two AP State best actor awards besides the National award for Rudraveena. He is the one actor whose films are enjoyed by the entire family of audience. And his admirers range from six to 80!

It is this charisma on which political parties are vying to cash in. And the race to bring him into their fold started way back in the early ‘nineties. Chiranjeevi had said in an interview in 1994. “There is a report in The Pioneer recently that I am joining politics. And some Telugu and Tamil newspapers rang me up to find the truth. I told them to check whether it is me or some other Chiranjeevi. (By joining politics) I may have a better opportunity to serve the people. I want to give back to people the affection they have showered on me by serving them or as per my father’s wish by launching a welfare trust. But today politics has become a source of making money, with cheap gimmicks. I don’t think anyone up there is doing any real service to the people. So it is not for me right now. Keeping aside politics for the time being, I would like to start a charitable trust. But right now my concentration is on my current film,” he said. That was in 1994. Indeed he started a trust and launched a blood- and eye banks. The blood-bank won the A P State award for the fifth consecutive time this year. And his popularity too is increasing day by day despite his recent starrers proving a cropper at the box office. In the same interview talking about his future goal he said, “To serve people. And which way, well, I leave it to posterity.”

Long ago, an astrologer had predicted that his horoscope was akin to N.T. Rama Rao’s and Chiranjeevi too has all the chances of heading a State. Predictions apart, it has to be seen whether Chiranjeevi will plunge into politics or not. For his arrival is sure to topple the apple cart for the leading contenders.

An industry veteran opines that Chiranjeevi may not after all enter politics as like Rajnikant, he may prefer to keep his superstar status intact for he may not be sure of that status in politics. Meanwhile the actor is planning his 150th film based on the life and times of a freedom fighter, Vuyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.

Who knows like Dasari Narayana Rao’s Bobbilipuli for NTR, this film may be the launch pad for Chiranjeevi to take to politics. All said and done, the final answer lies with Chiranjeevi.

Rumors: Chiru taking political tuitions?

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chiranjeevi11199380366.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Even as Megastar Chiranjevi’s political entry has remained a mystery for the political observers, rumours continue to make rounds as to how Chiranjeevi is making preparations for his new party.

According to grapevine, Chiranjeevi has already started taking tuitions from a well-known political science professor on various subjects – ranging from Constitution of India to political history of Andhra Pradesh to the sociological set-up in the State and its impact on the electoral system to the administrative mechanism, so as to have a thorough understanding of all the subjects. He is of the view that he should not be taken for a ride by other politicians when he actually enters the politics. He wants to know how the bureaucracy is taking the party in power for a ride and how corruption is so deeply rooted in the system.

Interestingly, he is also mastering the art of facing the media and of course, media management, so that he would not make any controversial remarks that would spoil his image. For that, he is said to be attending “mock press conferences” and “mock media interviews” regularly and practicing as to how answer queries from the media, however embarrassing they might be.

This is what we hear from that camp. By the way, the tuitions have come to a halt, following the death of Chiranjeevi’s father Konidela Venkat Rao. They might be revived after a few days, sources say.

Rumors: New Gossips About Chiranjeevi!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/megastar1199349796.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Megastar Chiranjeevi who is currently mourning the demise of his father is slowly recovering back to normalcy. Not sure if this is true, but it is being talked in the film circuit that the Megastar is likely to make an announcement regarding his political entry after the festival of Sankranthi. There has been a lot of speculation about his debut in the political arena and the whole state of Andhra Pradesh has been chalking out various debates and issues which were a result of the mighty actor's feelers. So, the new gossips regarding Chiranjeevi's political entry are coming up again.

"Chiranjeevi has been facing disturbances in his home front ever since he is planning to announce his new party. That doesn't mean that he should keep quiet. He has many combinations of vipareetha raja yoga which will get activated after many hardships, pains and ordeals. He would certainly become an unbeatable king", says a city based astrologer.

But there are a few astrologers those are saying that time is not favorable for Chiranjeevi now and he has to start his party only in 2014. Let us see what happens.

Reel Talk: Simran Coming Up As Aids Patient

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/simran31199351898.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Simran acted in the Malayalam movie 'Hearbeats' and recall she went into strife with the producer of that movie for showing her as HIV + patient which was against to the agreement. She claimed that she was shown as Aids patient in the movie without taking her permission. She also sued them to pay huge sum to compensate the loss of her public image. She said that the act was against to the feelings of her and her fans.

Now the same movie is getting dubbed into Telugu and coming up with same title. It is releasing on Ragini Creations in the production of P Sreenivasa Rao and G Satyanarayana. Vinu Anand directed the movie and it is the story that revolves around 4 medicos and a woman.

The dubbing activities are going on now. We have to see if Simran continues her protest even with this dubbed flick.

Screen Buzz: Is Shriya Appearing Topless?

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/shriya11199349006.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

It is known that Shriya is acting in the movie 'The Other End of the Line' produced by Hollywood's MGM in association with Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Film. Hollywood actor Jesse Metcalfe is playing lead role in the film and he is known with popular TV serial 'Desperate Housewives'.

Shriya is playing the role of a call center executive in Delhi who flies to San Francisco and falls in love with a guy who happens to encounter her in a phone conversation. That's the main theme of the story and it is said that Shriya is supposed to appear in suggestive topless scene. As she negated, the scene is being carried with a dupe, say sources.

So, if we see any suggestive nude scene in this film we have to understand that it's dupe's body but not Shriya's!

Screen Buzz: ATA invites Mahesh Babu, Sneha

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/maheshbabu21199340050.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

KHAMMAM: All arrangements are being made to organise the 10th American Telugu Association (ATA) conference on a grand scale, ATA cultural and language committee chairman Ravi Kondabolu has said.

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Ravi said the meet would be held on July 4, 5 and 6 at Prudential Centre, 20 km from New Jersey. Prudential Centre was selected as the venue because it was only 15 minutes’ drive from the Newark airport, and could accommodate 18,000 delegates and 4,000 cars, he said and added that 15,000 Telugus from across the globe were expected to attend the meeting.

The organisational activities of ATA meet, which is estimated to cost USD 2 million, have been entrusted to the youth this time.

The three-day ATA meet would be conducted in such a way as to glorify the Telugu culture and tradition, Ravi said adding cine hero Mahesh Babu and heroine Sneha would participate in the conference.

Victory Starting Work From January 18th

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/venky1199343708.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Actor Venkatesh more dearly known as 'Victory' Venkatesh is back from his vacation and is now gearing up for his next film 'Chintakayala Ravi' being directed by Nallamalapu Srinivas (Bujji).

The project will take off on January 18th as it is considered an auspicious day and the film also star Anushka and Priyamani as the heroines. With a very successful 2007 in his bag, Venky must be more than confident to get onto his next project and his fans are hoping he will come up with another hit year this 2008.

Let us wish that this flick with innovative title continues Venky's luck after 'Tulasi'.

Rumors: Charmy's PA Doing Business!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/charmi1199342416.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

It is said that the film 'Mantra' brought great cash inflow and taught lessons for the team. Had the film made by any senior producers or known director, things would have been different, say trade circles. No distributor is involved in the movie and that stood as a plus point for producers in getting the deserved profits. Otherwise they would have lost in big way. Now they went into the trap of Charmy's PA, as per reliable sources.

It was said that he demanded the producers to settle the account of Charmy by paying the balance Rs 5 lakh before the release of the movie. As there was no money in hand for producers at that time they said that they would settle after releasing the film. But the PA negated and asked the Malayalam rights of the film. As there was no other chance left for producers they have given away Malayalam rights for him against that Rs 5 lakh. Gossip says that the PA himself settled Rs 5 lakh for Charmy.

But after the release of the film, Malayalam producers approached 'Mantra' producers asking for rights with huge offers. Now, it's a big cake for Charmy's PA to simply dub at a cost of Rs 15 lakh and release 'Mantra' in Kerala. He would certainly end up with bigger profits. We don't know if he gives share for his boss, Charmy or not in this venture.

Mayawati sends feelers to actor Chiranjeevi

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chiranjeevi21199340153.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

NEW DELHI: Both Sonia Gandhi and Chandrababu Naidu have reason to worry. Mayawati has grand plans for Andhra Pradesh.

The BSP chief is exploring a Dalit-OBC-minority-Brahmin alliance in the state before the next Lok Sabha polls. She has sent feelers to Telugu actor Chiranjeevi and Telengana Rashtra Samiti chief Chandrashekhar Rao for an electoral alliance. TRS is currently aligned with the UPA.

If the BSP-TRS-Chiranjeevi alliance fructify it would become a formidable force in the state upsetting traditional players — the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Mayawati is holding a rally in Hyderabad on January 6, while Chiranjeevi’s supporters are organising a “backward caste garjana” rally in Warangal on January 19 to lure backward castes from TDP and Congress.

Chiranjeevi, who has mass appeal across the state — akin to late NTR, is planning to launch a political outfit and an announcement to this effect may be made in February or March.

The actor belongs to the Kappu community, which is considered backward in some districts, forward in some and “other caste” in others. The Kappus constitute over 10% of the state population. The Dalits also has an equal representation. Overall, the BCs constitute over 50 per cent of the population. The proposed alliance would trigger realignment of social forces weakening the forward castes.

Varma's Teenage Fantasy Was Jayasudha

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/jayasudha1199340721.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Ram Gopal Varma in an interview expressed his unfiltered thoughts regarding his tastes and heroines. He admitted that he was in love with Sridevi for some years but her life time fantasy was Jayasudha. He got attracted to Sridevi a lot while he was shooting the movie 'Kshanam Kshanam', he said.

But he said that he used to ride his cycle in his teenage and stop in front of a poster if there was Jayasudha on that. He said that he liked her in the film 'Jyothi' and watched that several times.

"My life time ambition in those days was to see Jayasudha in reality at least once", said Ram Gopal Varma.

Well, in later years he produced the movie 'Money Money' with Jayasudha. His fantasy might have come true.

Snippet: Young Hero Is Confused and Tensed

MS Narayana's son is confused and tensed. He is confused because he is not being able to know how to project himself to grab the attention of audiences. He is tensed because; people are not at all recognizing him despite showing lot of talent (!).

Hence he is pushing the buck of luck on his name. He feels that there is some problem with his name and hence changed to Savyasachi from Vikram for the film 'Bhajantreelu' (he appeared with his original name Vikram for 'Koduku'). As the film flopped miserably now he changed his name again. He calls himself MS Vikram reminding that he is the son of MS Narayana.

He feels uneasy with his name 'Vikram' as there is another popular Tamil hero with that name. Now he is appearing as MS Vikram in the film 'KPHB Colony' that is going to come up as suspense thriller. Let us see if this suspense factor pulls crowds towards him.

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/ram_ntr1199316289.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Look at this interesting observation of NTR and Ram Charan. While NTR is talking to someone, Ram Charan leaves an eye on him. He just observes what he is talking to her.

And when Ram Charan is talking to someone, NTR observes him.

That is the spirit of competition that leaves no stone unturned. Both NTR and Ram Charan want to know 'something more' about each other.

In this rare get together, both the young stars spent their time observing each other.

One film at a time is the new policy - Sumanth

Chit Chat With Sumanth

A rich pedigree was not what got him the fame that he has today. Disappointments and a lot of hard work later actor Sumanth finally emerged the hero; his last few films got him the much needed box office success and critical acclaim for his acting skills. Now with his latest film Pourudu a home production (S.S.Creations), Sumanth is testing waters with an action flick.

Regular masala films don’t suit me

Pourudu is an action movie. It tells the story of a Civil services topper who rises when the system that he believes in collapses. It has shades of Sarkar but quite different from its storyline. This film focuses on the father-son relation ship and also includes the romance between Kajal and me. After two romantic dramas I wanted to try my hand at action. But Pourudu is not a regular masala film. I don’t suit those kind of roles even if want to do such films.

I wanted to work for my own banner

After almost fifteen years my father’s S.S.Creations banner is returning to film production. My sister Supriya has been actively involved as executive producer for the films from Annapurna Studios banner. So when Pourudu was proposed we thought that she should come forth as the film’s producer. I did this film because I wanted to work for my own banner.

Raj is a much focused director

Raj Aditya had assisted director Priyadarshan for a long time. The script that he had proposed for Pourudu was very good. Raj is very much focused and has an amazing music sense.

Mani scores best for action movies

Manisharma had earlier scored music for my films Yuvakudu and Madhumasam. But I think he gives very good music for action films. I promised him that I would come to him once with an action movie. And the music that he has scored for Pourudu is excellent. This is his best so far for my films.

Kajal’s role is similar to that of her off screen persona

We had signed Kajal for this film much before she had signed on for Chandamama. We are glad that the film was a hit and now Kajal is a known and popular face. The character that she portrays in this film is very similar to how she is in real life. She is a very bubbly person and her role in Pourudu is quite similar to her real life persona.

One film at a time is the new policy

I have stopped accepting many films. I don’t want to work on two three films at the same time. Right now the policy is of one film at a time. But I would consider if the film I am being offered is planned so well that all I have to do is just act in it. Then I may rethink my policy.

Not acting with Nagarjuna in the near future

Nagarjuna and I have no plans of acting together. Not in the near future. But I will do films by Annapurna Studios.

Pourudu on 12th January

Pourudu will be releasing on 12th January with over 120 prints. My next film I will announce after Pourudu has released. I have finalized one project only, as of now.

Kalamandir Calendar With Sexy 'Back Beauties'

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/kalamandir11199287323.JPG” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

We know about 'King Fisher Calendar'. Then what is Kalamandir Calendar? The sari show room 'Kalamandir' turned eminent with its promotion campaign. While many showrooms were paying huge pay checks for top heroines and making them their brand ambassadors, Kalamandir has gone ahead with unknown models but captured market. The idea is not to use the faces of the models but only to show them sexier from back. The campaign clicked well and now the new campaign was started with new model. There was a reference of this ad-campaign in the film 'Viyyalavari Kayyalu' as well.

Adding to this, Kalamandir in collaboration with film magazine 'Cine Star' is going to come up with a 12 page calendar where all the models will show their voluptuous backs wearing designer blouses and saris. The shooting for this calendar took place for more than 10 days in Bangalore on about 30 models. Only the best 12 will be picked up for the calendar. Kalamandir is opening its showroom in Bangalore on large scale. An Ad-jingle was also made by Kalamandir in Malaysia.

It is true that Kingfisher calendar cannot be placed on the walls of traditional Andhra families. But Kalamandir calendar can be!

An old Telugu verse says, "One gets punya by plunging into River Ganges from any side. Similarly eyes gets pleased, hearts jump in dalliance and senses run into romance by enjoying the beauty of woman from any side".

That's perfectly applicable here!

Screen Buzz: Historical postponed!

Ashutosh Gowarikar’s much-awaited film “Jodhaa Akbar” continues to make news. It is the untold love story of the Mughal Emperor Akbar (played by Hrithik Roshan) and a fiery, young Rajput princess, Jodhaa (Aishwarya Rai), with some great music by A.R. Rahman. The film, produced by UTV, is to be dubbed into Tamil and Telugu. It was originally scheduled for release during Diwali but, later, postponed to January 25. Last week, it was again postponed to Valentine’s Day weekend on February 15. Now it is learnt that one of the five songs, a ‘qawwali’, is to be deleted due to the film’s long duration — 3 hours and 50 minutes!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/medhavi1199326349.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

The audio album of Mister Medhavi comprises 6 songs where 4 of them prove to be instant winners and the other 2 start dinning in heads only after listening thrice. Chakri has given a better music this time and Kandi Konda was given lion share to pen the lyrics where Bhuvana Chandra was given only one. On a whole the audio bags a rating of 3.5/5.

Kallu Kallutho…
Sung By: Chitra
Lyrics: Kandikonda

This song stood at instant winner in the audio. This solo number defines and describes 'love' in a different manner. The line 'Chupu Chupu tho chiru dhee kodithey-prema' sounds to be an interesting expression and also recalls Genelia's (heroine in Mister Medhavi) previous hit movie 'Dhee'.

Neeli Kanula Chinadana…
Sung By: SP Charan, Kousalya
Lyrics: Kandikonda

This is the melodious beat in the album that rings in the ears even after listening to the entire album. Kandikonda has penned the song with simple and soft words. Although there are no great expressions in the lyrics, it stands out to be a pleasant number for ears.

Kala Kaaduga…
Sung By: Chakri
Lyrics: Kandikonda

This song sung by Chakri scores less in the album but still deserves an ear. The situational fervor in the song can be enjoyed only with visuals. Hence it is the song to be listened and watched on screen.

Neeti Chinuku…
Sung By: Harish Raghevendra, Sumangali
Lyrics: Kandi Konda

This is another instant winner in the album with romanticism in lyrics. The starting line, 'Neeti Chinuku mabbullona evaru daachaaro' elevates the song and makes it stand unique. The song stands to be a perfect match of lyrics and music.

O Maguva…
Sung By: Naveen, Suchitra
Lyrics: Bhuvana Chandra

This is another average number in the album and holds run of the mill standard. This is the only number written by Bhuvana Chandra in the album. Naveen and Suchitra have given their voices well but it would have been scored with better BGMs by Chakri.

Ningi Nela…
Sung By: Chakri
Lyrics: Kandi Konda

This is another wonderful number that haunts for quite long time. Chakri rendered the song with right feel and Kandi Konda penned it with required depth. Although it is a situational song, the ears hold the affinity for this. It is certainly the instant winner in the album.

Snippet: Sameera Reddy Going Down To 'Show'

http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/sameera1199263108.jpg

Bollywood bombshell Sameera Reddy, who is a Telugu girl, seems to have made her mind to go national. This hot girl is going down south to 'show' her talent and oomph.

After her impressive role in the upcoming movie 'Race', Sameera is gearing herself to make a debut in the Tamil film industry and what better chance for her than this as she will be pairing up with top star Surya in a film being made by the talented Gautam Menon.

Titled 'Vaaranam Aayiram', the movie looks to be more of an action thriller and knowing Gautam Menon and his fetish for action movies, this will be a treat to watch for the audience.

Priyamani's Resolution For 'Big Heroes'

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/priyamani-undo1199262910.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Actress Priyamani who got a decent name for herself in Tollywood has slowly moved to the Tamil industry too and has been busy finding her footing. Recently, her two films with two noted top stars got her hits and she has now decided that she will not be doing any movies with lesser known actors. When asked about this, the actress justifies that there was a time when she struggled to get a project with a big hero in spite of working in films made by Bharathi Raja and Balu Mahendra and hence she wants to pin her plans with big heroes as she is in such a position now.

Same is the case for her with Telugu as well. She is now inclined to act with top-4 heroes and also says that she wouldn't prefer new heroes or unknown faces. So, it's Chiru, Nag, Balayya and Venky those have to consider Priyamani now.

Well, that is her business model. Will have to see how the industry reacts to her new move.

PHOTO & WORKING STILLS

'I want to make a mark in the South'

Tamanna is on a roll. Her Telugu film Happy Days has set the box office on fire while her Tamil film Kalloori is one of the most talked about films in recent times.

She has now signed a film with Tamil superstar Surya, produced by AVM and directed by national award winning cinematographer, K V Anand.

She has three Telugu films in her kitty as well. In fact, Tamanna is being touted as the most promising actress in both film industries.

Few know that Tamanna started acting at the age of 13. Now, at 18, the actress is juggling acting, endorsements and schooling. She has just enrolled for a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree course in Economics.

Radhika Rajamani chats with Tamanna to know more.

Your performance in Happy Days and Kalloori have been appreciated. What is your reaction?

The success is because of good directors like Sekhar Kammula and Balaji Sakthivel. I'm glad I worked with them. It's been a fruitful experience and I have learnt a lot as an actor. Whatever they have taught me will remain with me.

Both films are college-oriented. How different was in acting in them?

College is the only similarity in those. The stories are different. Happy Days is about urban college life. In Kalloori, I play a girl from an urban area who goes to the rural area. All the characters in the film are from the lower strata of society but from different backgrounds.

Happy Days was to do with eight people on campus who become couples by the end of the movie. In Kalloori, there is love but the hero and heroine do not even express their love for each other.

The movies are shot differently. Sekhar believes in positivity. Balaji likes to show stark reality. How different were the films in terms of your characters?

Sekhar sir told me gave me a character sketch of Madhu. Within certain limitations, I had to create the mannerisms, body language and nuances. We had rehearsals before the shoot. There was a lot of improvisation later.

I signed Kalloori two and a half years ago on the basis of a single line -- that is, a city girl comes to the village. On the sets, Balaji sir would enact the scenes out. In a way, he did my homework. The film was his visualisation and I did what he asked me to do.

In both the movies you were paired opposite newcomers Varun Sandesh (Happy Days) and Akhil (Kalloori). How was the experience of acting with them?

Since Varun spoke English, it was easy. In fact, the entire Happy Days cast did. We got along well and the chemistry showed on screen.

In Kalloori, I could not talk to Akhil as he did not know English. There was not much of physical proximity too in terms of expressing our love and the scenes were mostly done separately.

You sport a simple look in both films.

When I came to Hyderabad to shoot for Happy Days, I used to wear contact lenses. Sekhar sir did not want me to use them so I did not. Even my clothes were simple; what a college girl wears today.

Balaji sir doesn't use much lights -- he uses only reflectors. So, one cannot put on make-up. Even the clothes were in sync with the story. Since the story was set seven years ago, my salwar kameezes were loose and ill-fitting. Both these directors have their heroines covered from head to toe in a sari or lehnga-odni and yet, they make them look glamorous.

You have acted in Tamil and Telugu. How do you surmount the language barrier?

It was tough initially but now I can memorise dialogues quickly. I tried to dub for Happy Days but could not. I may be able to do so in future.

You are being spoken of as a new star.

I believe certain films change an actor's career, take them to stardom and ensure popularity. They touch people's hearts. I am glad I am known through Happy Days and Kalloori. I always wanted to be an actress and the dream has come true so beautifully. It has a lot to do with luck. God has been kind to me.

You have a Tamil project with K V Anand, produced by a big banner AVM. You are cast opposite Surya in the film. Tell us about it.

I am a huge star of Surya. I have watched his films. I am waiting to meet him and take his autograph! I'm glad to be part of this project. Anand sir is technically very good and working with such people will be a good experience. It is a prestigious project and I feel humbled to play a role in the film. For me, it's a big thing.

I also have another Tamil film produced by Oscar films and directed by Gandhi Krishna. All I can say is that it is a different character which I haven't done before. I will be acting opposite newcomer Siddharth.

You have three Telugu films too.

Yes. My film with Sushant (Nagarjuna Akkineni's nephew) is on the floor. This is a comedy. I used to think comedy is a lot of fun but it's tough initially. Sushant is down-to-earth and hardworking. He dances, fights and acts well. He is a promising actor with a great future. I will be doing a film with Allu Arjun and working in a M S Raju production too.

How did you manage acting and school?

My teachers at Maneckji Cooper school (Mumbai) were very supportive. In fact, actors like Padmini Kolhapure and Rani Mukerji studied here.

How did you get interested in acting?

I was more of a dancer actually. Though I was not trained in dance, I had the flair and I would dance at all family functions and choreograph dance shows in school.

I was so much in awe of film stars that I thought I was a heroine. I grew up saying Sridevi's dialogues. When I was in class 8, a friend told me to attend a seven-day course with her at Prithvi theatre. This opened me up to acting. My teacher, Neeraj Kabi, wanted me to join his group. I did, for a year. Then I got the offer to act in a Hindi film. My name was recommended to the producer by a teacher.

My Fair and Lovely ad got me offers from the South.

When I was giving my 10th board examinations, Mohan Babu sir was searching for a heroine to act opposite his son Manoj in the film Shri. I had my English examinations that day and I met him and got the role. If I had not been an actor, I would have been a doctor. I was keen on being a doctor as there are quite a few doctors in my family.

Have you got any offers from the Hindi film industry?

Yes, but I want to make a mark in the South. Hyderabad and Chennai are like home to me.

YVS Chowdary wishes a Happy New Year to indfilmnews.blogspot.com visitors

YVS Chowdary

Dear friends and visitors of indfilmnews.blogspot.com,

Let me start this letter by wishing you all visitors of indfilmnews.blogspot.com a happy and prosperous new year 2008.

Okka Magaadu is the 4th film produced on Bommarillu banner. We announced the project on 9 August 2006 and started the shooting of the film on 14 December 2006 with a song. We completed the shoot on 5 December 2007. We completed the film in 204 working days.

Audiences appreciated my hard work and creativity in Devadas by making it a big hit. Devadas was released on 11 January 2006. My next film Okka Magaadu is going to release exactly 2 years later on 11 January 2008. I need your blessings for Okka Magadu film.

Due the title and the combination, there has been tremendous hype and excitement about this project among the Telugu film lovers. But I stayed away from the hype and worked with the same dedication, hard work and fighting spirit like I do for any of my regular film. I learnt the qualities of dedication, hard work and fighting spirit from the legend NTR who is a god to me.

The music of Okka Magaadu was launched on 21 December and the cassettes were available in stores from 24 December. The response has been tremendous and the music turned out to be a chartbuster. The first bunch was over with in few days and repeat order is on. The hard work of Mani Sharma and Chandrabose paid off with the huge success of the audio.

Since we worked with the same dedication, I am sure that the response for the movie is going to be much more greater than that of audio.

I had Viswa Vikhyata Nata Sarvabhouma, Nata Ratna NTR in my mind when I canned the song Okka Magaadu song in Seetayya film. It is Viswa Vikhyata Nata Tejoroopam, Nata Simham Bala Krishna Nandamuri who is acting as hero in Okka Magaadu film. The tagline ‘One and only’ is not only apt for the subject of the film, but also to the acting ability of Bala Krishna Nandamuri. After watching the film on 11 January 2008, everybody will agree with me that ‘one and only’ Bala Krishna can do Okka Magaadu role.

I would like to thank you all for encouraging me and I wish you a happy and prosperous new year 2008.

Hero Sumanth has found a pretext to put off his proposed marriage. His parents found a gal and got his nod for wedlock. Sumanth, however, wanted to marry either Kamalini Mukherji or Charmy. He moved very closely with them. At one time, every one in the industry thought, Kamalini was his destined bride. As many in his family have not given their approval for marrying either of the two gals, Sumanth lost interest in getting married soon. He wanted to postpone it. Sumanth has no 'hits' in the recent past. He convinced the elders in his family that he would be ready for marriage only after he registers 'hit'.

Veda Sastry alias Archana alias Veda is first a classical dancer and then a screen actress. She couldn't get the break to show her talent on the silver screen but it was singer Usha who gave her a chance to dance for promoting her album 'Usha Raagaalu'.

Freshly Veda Sastry appeared on Saptagiri channel in one of the episodes of 'Muvvala Savvadi', being anchored by middle aged beauty, actress Prabha. Veda Sastry appreciated the concept of the program that is spreading the glory of classical dance, and then prepared to dance for a while on the dais. Then Prabha appreciated her vigor and asked her to practice more and never lose the art. Veda said that she would have certainly danced well had she practiced.

Veda is awaiting a movie that gives her chance to showcase her dancing talent. She must be expecting showers in wrong reason!

"It's proved to be a delight to see Usha after a long time. She added lot of weight to her body. That is the only difference. She is still with same vigor in singing", said a housewife.

It was said by reliable sources that Usha is not interested in continuing her playback singing career. We have to see if she changes her mind and sings for a few films in this span of six months.

While organizing events during the New Year celebrations has become a novelty for the hoteliers, adding film stars as attractions has become a new trend.

This time, the city of Chennai was the place when a leading corporate club, The Country Club managed to rope in the seductive Sada to give her performances for the members. Then, it was the voluptuous bombshell Namitha who set the members of the Lee Club hotel rocking with her moves. The New Year this time gathered a lot of attention and entertainment with actresses making their presence felt.

While Sada's show went on in normal fashion, reports say that Namita managed to bring in heat among the crowds with her grand assets. She didn't hold any hesitations and entertained the people who ever joined her on the dais at the stroke of midnight. The lights were put off for a while and only Namitha should know how many men have 'wished' her in their own way on that moment.

Director Raja Vannem Reddy couldn't find a better alternative to 'Sangeetha' for his next film, 'Maa Aayana Chanti Pilladu'.

This is a remake from Tamil version; 'Enna Purushan Kolandu Madiri' Sangeetha played the lead role in Tamil version and earned many laurels. Though Raja Vannem Reddy tried to keep another gal in her place, he thought no other gal would be suitable for the role. He produced many off beat films including 'Adavallaku Adivaram Selavu'.

Rumors: Nikita Gets Her Pay For Exposing!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/nikitha21199216993.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
The film 'Maharajasri' has left many bitter memories not only to the makers but artistes too. Rasi's husband, Nivas directed and partly financed the film. His co-producer D.S.Rao went into financial distress, when the film turned a mishap. He couldn't make payment to many artistes including the heroine Nikita. Expecting fat remuneration, she 'exposed' her figure beyond decency in the film. As she couldn't get a pie, she lodged a complaint with the Producers Council. D.S.Rao found no other way except to clear her debts. Rao is now blaming Rasi and her hubby for his distress.

Buzz: SV Krishna Reddy Fighting For 7 Acres Land

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/svk1199090667.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Land turmoil has been common in Hyderabad twin cities and its surrounding from quite long time. Multiple registrations have turned prevalent in majority cases. But sometimes, the registrations wouldn't happen as per government records but the transactions would take place. Other times, government records show that certain sale was completed, but that wouldn't happen actually.

Coming to the point, Tollywood director SV Krishna Reddy has a piece of 7 acres of land at Gopanpally Village (survey 36) of Ranga Reddy District. But the University of Hyderabad is claiming that the land belongs to it as it was given by the state and proceeded raising a compound wall around it. On the other than the land records ay that it was assigned to none so far.

Now, the fight is in between the supporters of SV Krishna Reddy on one side and University people on the other. We have to see who wins ultimately.

Reel Buzz: No New Year plans for Chiru!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chiranjeevi71199069913.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Mega star Chiranjeevi, who has been passing through a bad phase, will not celebrate the New Year. Because he and his family are currently observing the mourning period. The film star had lost his father and thus will keep off all celebrations. As it is Chiranjeevi has been passing through a troubled mental state, with bad incidents after bad incidents kept on repeating during the year 2007. All through the year the film star could not find any major occasion for joy or celebrations.

Even the debut film, Chirutha, of his only son had flopped at the box office. It did not evoke the expected response from the Telugu audience. Consequently, his son could not make any headway in the Tollywood. The murky episode involving his second daughter too created trouble for him.

And finally he lost his father. The film star had never been in such a shocking state before. So there's no New Year celebrations for him and his entire family. Also those close to him in the Tollywood will not celebrate the new year. Chiru's fans will also not participate in the celebrations as mark of respect and love for the film star.

What your number predicts for 2008

Wondering what 2008 has in store for you? Numerologist Sanjay Jumani deciphers your future according to your ruling number.

1 People born on the 1st, 10th, 19th and 28th in any month are termed as Number 1 people, ruled by the planet Sun.

With 2008 being ruled by the Sun, the number 1 people in a position of authority would fare well, showing the way to their subordinates with elegance.

With a little rumination, you could balance it into a win-win situation. It’s high time you focus on the non-materialistic things of life, which are also very important. Try to delve in the spiritual side too.

2 Number 2 represents the Moon, and they are persons born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th and 29th of any month.

Ruled by the Moon, this year would be favourable for the number 2 also, as 1 and 2 are quite compatible. The most important thing for you to do this year is not to depend on others to complete the job you started. Though this year will be good for you, your dreamy nature and over dependence on others could bring delays or failures in your life. You’ll be at your imaginative best if you allow your thoughts to go with the flow. Some of your intuitions could turn into realities. Those in alternate sciences such as yoga, meditation, reiki, astrology can climb further.

3 People born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st and 30th in any month are termed as Number 3 people, ruled by the biggest planet Jupiter.

This year being equal to number 1, you may find some opposition to your plans. However due to your stubborn and ambitious nature, you could overcome these hurdles and surge ahead in life.

Sun could further ignite your ambitious side, and make you more forceful, not for the sake of accumulation, but from the fear of being under obligation to others. You may excel in the execution of commands, being orderly and disciplined.

In the bargain, others may consider you dictatorial, so try to use a surgeon’s knife in such situations.

4 People born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd and 31st in any month are termed as Number 4 people, ruled by the planet Uranus.

A good year ahead as the numbers 1 and 4 go hand in hand; those who are awaiting a job change or marriage could get rewarded.

Due to your original ideas, and unconventional thoughts, you are likely to face problems in the form of misunderstandings. However, if you follow your intuitions and original thoughts, you stand better chances of success. Those who are in litigation could get a breather, but must try to avoid business partnerships.

5 People born on the 5th, 14th, 23rd in any month are termed as Number 5 people, ruled by the planet Mercury.

Due to your ruler Mercury, the fastest planet, you could be in quite an impulsive hurry, brimming with emotions. All others may not be as quick as you to match up with your pace, so expect less to avoid disappointment. If you faced a few problems last year, this year things could start to look up, especially on the financial front. Try to use your communicative skills, which is your USP.

6 People born on the 6th, 15th and 24th in any month are termed as Number 6 people, ruled by the planet Venus.

You could have an average year, although the number 6 is good for the number 1, it is sometimes seen that 1 is sometimes unkind to the number 6, so this year, brace yourself to face some delays in completing your projects.

May and October are the best months to start anything important.

Those who are in newer relationships should be warned not to be hasty, and may play the waiting game.

7 People born on the 7th, 16th and 25th in any month are termed as Number 7 people, ruled by the planet Neptune, and such persons are also under the influence of the interchangeable number 2 of Moon.

Ruled by the planet Neptune, 1 is one of the number 7’s best numbers, so a good year ahead. Travelling for work or pleasure would be profitable for you this year, but learn to control those mood swings and take decisions from your head and not from your heart.

Spiritually, a satisfying year, and yoga, meditation and alternate therapies could give you immense gratification. Those in consultancy, or any kind of service-related work could see unprecedented profits accrue.

8 People born on the 8th, 17th and 26th in any month are termed as Number 8 people, ruled by the planet Saturn.

Ruled by the planet Saturn, 1 of the Sun is the lucky number for the number 8, so although a year for you to surge ahead, be careful in your investments, and do not put all your eggs in one basket.

Try not to trust anyone blindly, invest sensibly and think before acting.

This year could see you make great progress both financially as well as personally.

Those on the lookout for buying land could take a chance, and some of you may end up with your dream house too.

Post-February, you should see a positive development as regards your profession.

9 People born on the 9th, 18th and 27th in any month are termed as Number 9 people, ruled by the planet Mars.

Ruled by the fiery planet Mars, the number 9 is a strong number at the end of the number line, and as there are seven numbers in between the numbers 1 and 9, you would find work being delayed, or missing opportunities that should have been rightfully yours.

This year you should keep a check on your temper and use your energies for constructive things to have a good year. Past laurels could come in handy, if you use them, which is not a bad idea if one does so, once in a while.

New York (IANS) Richa Gangopadhyay, a 21-year-old Michigan student, was crowned Miss India USA 2007 at the 26th annual pageant held Friday in New Jersey.

Richa will now represent US at the 17th annual Miss India Worldwide pageant, organised by India Festival Committee (IFC), on Feb 23 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Richa is a final year student at the Michigan State University and majoring in Dietetics and Nutrition. She enjoys dance, music, movies and teaching children about health and nutrition. She also won the title of Miss Photogenic . She was crowned by the outgoing queen, Ayushka Singh.

Neha Multani, 22, of New York and Nisha Palvia, 18, of Georgia were respectively declared first and second runners up among 24 contestants from various parts of the US.

At the pageant all contestants took part in the Indian dress and evening gown segment. In the talent round, the top 10 presented Bollywood dances, kathak, bharatanatyam, violin as well as poetry recitation and singing.

Nationwide, the financial services firm, was the title sponsor of the beauty contest held at Royal Albert's Palace in Fords. The contest, organised by New York-based IFC, is the longest running Indian pageant outside India.

IFC was founded by Dharmatma Saran in 1974 to conduct Indian beauty pageants and fashion shows. IFC's affiliates in 20 countries of the Indian diaspora hold their own beauty pageants and send representatives for Miss India Worldwide.

Fareisa Joemmanbaks of Suriname is the reigning Miss India Worldwide.

Chiranjeevi Stopping TTD Chairman Getting MLA Ticket

No one knows if assumptions on Chiranjeevi's political entry are sending tremors among many but it is sure that TTD chairman Karunakar Reddy is quivering for that. Karunakar Reddy has been the 'yes man'of YSR and expecting MLA ticket from Tirupathi for 2009 elections. But YSR is cold on that aspect now. It is said that he is planning to reserve that ticket for person from Kapu community. The current Congress MLA at Tirupathi is Venkataramana who is a Kapu. As the chances of Chiranjeevi entering politics in 2009 are many, YSR doesn't want to take risk by giving Tirupathi ticket for other than Kapu leader. So Venkataramana will retain that again.

Apart from this, Karunakar Reddy is also upset as CM Is not giving positive signal for the lobbying of his brother's wife for the post of VC-Padmavathi Mahila University and request of his sister's husband for the post of VC-Sri Venkateshwara University.

Probably, Karunakar Reddy's prayers weren't answered by Tirumala Lord as of now.

Nostalgia: ANR's Over Intelligence

ANR is too intelligent to imagine. Many say that he is completely business minded and knows how to get the things done as per his wish.

Let us recall an incident. He took a few acres of land in Banjara Hills a few decades ago and constructed Annapurna Studios in that. Everything was fine but there was no approach road for that. ANR also ran away with funds in hand to lay road. His friends told him to wait for sometime to accumulate funds and lay roads. But ANR wanted the road immediately. He got a wonderful idea.

He used the influence of his friends and invited President of India to inaugurate the studio. And the President agreed to come. Then it turned the duty of local Governmental Authorities to lay road to the studio as First Citizen of India should move on that. The road was laid very quickly and ANR fulfilled his wish.

That was the smartness of ANR. Yes, he was smart in looks and in thoughts as well.

Behind The Scene: Dasari becomes butt of ridicule!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/dasari1199033031.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

The Congress high command, which was of the opinion that Union Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao is a man of principles and stature, has changed its mind now.

Eversince Dasari made that speech inviting Yuvaratna Balakrishna into politics and described him as future Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the AICC was flooded with complaints against Dasari from the Congress leaders. Leading the batch of complainants is Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao. In fact, by loosing his tongue, Dasari has become a butt of ridicule in the AICC and everybody is doubting his credentials now.

Realising that he is under a scanner, Dasari rushed to Delhi to do the damage control exercise. H tried to convince the leaders in the AICC as to why he had to play to the gallery at the Balakrishna function, but there were no takers for his argument. Looks like days are numbered for Dasari.

Shilpa finally admits to dating Indian millionaireShilpa finally admits to dating Indian millionaire

LONDON(PTI): It seems that Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty knew what she did last summer in Britain and she has finally admitted her relationship with 32-year-old London born Indian millionaire Raj Kundra.

For the first time, in an interview to 'Daily Mail', Shetty has revealed that the new relationship brought a long period of loneliness to an end and transformed her life.

"I am dating somebody. I have known him for some time but I have only just started to know him better. I hope he will be the one but I don't want to say too much because it is still very early on in our relationship," she said.

Though she has not named her new love, the daily claimed that it's none other than the London-born entrepreneur of Indian origin whose former wife had blamed Shetty for wrecking their marriage.

"I'm not going to deny that it's him but please don't say it is because I don't want to frighten him off," she said.

"He respects and understands what I do and it is nice to be cared for. I have been very lonely for a very long time and it is nice to know I have somebody to look forward to seeing at the end of the day. At last I feel normal.

"It has been an incredible year for me but I have also been very lonely. I have been away from home, in a foreign country and I haven't had a boyfriend for a very long time. I need someone to woo me. Magazines are always saying I am beautiful and millions of men want to woo me, but none has come forward because they are all so scared.

"I can go to a party and sense that men really like me but they are in awe of me and won't come and ask me for a date. Being an Indian actress is bad enough but now I'm a celebrity in the UK it's too much. It would take a really secure man to handle the media attention.

"I'm eulogised by a lot of men, but they wouldn't take me home to meet their mothers," she said.

Allu Arjun and Sekhar Kammula In Gandhi Hospital

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/alluarjun11199005231.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Allu Arjun and Sekhar Kammula made their presence as Chief Guests for a program in Gandhi Hospital yesterday.

Allu Arjun said, "You all may become actors if you decide to change your track. But I cannot become a doctor now at any cost. I feel very honorable to come to this function in such a big campus which is splendid to see".

The response from medicos was overwhelming for that.

And Sekhar Kammula said, "We are film people. What can we talk here? My sister also did MBBS from Gandhi Medical College. She forced me not to give a miss for this occasion".

The college day went on very well in the presence of these two crowd pulling personalities.

Which Star Makes 2008 A Merry Year

The year 2007 is not so favorable for Mahesh Babu. Although his image was sustained he couldn't make the hits of his standard. His two films 'Sainikudu' and 'Athidhi' didn't do well. While 'Sainikudu' was a clean flop with no life at all, the film 'Athidhi' sustained with some hype initially but waned out eventually.

Apart from this, all the big star films have bitten the mud this year leaving Venkatesh as an exception. His Adavari Matalaku Ardhaley Veruley turned a family hit this year. Chiranjeevi lost with Shankardada Zindabad and Balakrishna has seen failure with 'Maharadhi'. Nagarjuna also didn't do well with Don. Coming to Pawan Kalyan, no film was released this year.

And among the young guys, NTR could breathe some oxygen with 'Yamadonga' this year. Allu Arjun also has seen success with 'Desa Mududru' and Vishnu has seen his first success with 'Dhee'. Gopichand has seen success with 'Lakshyam'.

Apart from this, the time has been bad for Uday Kiran, Tarun, Prabhas and others.

We have to see who will make 2008 a merry year.

Kodanda Rami Reddy's Secret Of 38-Steps

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/akreddy1199007778.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Kodanda Rami Reddy said about the secret of those 38 steps that made him a successful director. Well, don't imagine that he is going to give a lecture regarding the ways to find success, like Yendamuri Veerendranath.

He says that there used to be an opinion among the film circles that one who climbs the 38 steps of Kranti Kumar's office would be successful in career. Already Dasari Narayana Rao and Raghavendra Rao had become successful after climbing those steps.

"I was the third person after Dasari and KRR to climb those steps and proved to be a successful director after that., Even Kranthi Kumar turned director with the films 'Seetaramayya Gari Manavaralu', '9 nelalu' and others. Thus he too proved that sentiment", said Kodanda Rami Reddy recalling his earlier experiences in T-Nagar, Chennai.

So, Kodandarami Reddy gives a sentimental reason for his success.

Gossip: Heroine Gets Massage From Thai Boys!

A Heroine gave a fitting retort to her male counterparts, when she was in Bangkok for shooting of a film. She is well read and highly independent in nature. She doesn't relish cheap humor. However, some male artistes tried to tease her with some indecent jokes. They ventured to narrate how Thai Gals gave them sensuous pleasure in massage centers. Then heroine didn't keep mum. She started relating how Thai boys had given her similar pleasure, when she too went for a massage centre. The teasing male artistes were taken aback. 'Has she really gone to a massage centre?', they began to probe. They couldn't find any clue. The bong lady is too sharp and witty!

Reel Talk: NTR As 'Kshatriyudu' After 'Kantri'!

NTR is going to come as 'Kshatriyudu' after the making of 'Kantri'. The script of Kshatriyudu is going to be dealt by Mahadev, who worked as assistant director with SS Raja Mouli for 'Yamadonga'. NTR seems to be busy for the coming one year with the projects 'Kantri' and 'Kshatriyudu'.

It is also said that NTR is awaiting folklore (jaanapadam) after the completion of 'Kshatriyudu'. Yes, NTR seems to be planning his career well. He is seeing in such away that no two successive films of him bear similarity. If Yamadonga is a socio-fantasy, Kantri will be a naughty mass flick, whereas Kshatriyudu is going to be a high dose action flick.

Indeed, NTR is singing a song in 'Kantri'. We have to wait to know what he is going to do for Kshatriyudu.

Screen Buzz: Trisha To Pair Up With Balayya!

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/trisha31198999538.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Trisha has been the darling of many hearts and she paired up with many young heroes so far. Coming to big heroes, she could cover only two.

Trisha has paired up with Chiranjeevi in 'Stalin' and with Venkatesh in 'Adavari Matalaku Aradhaley Veruley'. Now she is going to pair up with Nagarjuna on the banner of Kamakshi movies in the direction of Srinu Vaitla as per reliable sources. It is also said that Guna Sekhar is trying to pull Trisha to make her pair up with Balakrishna in the film 'Sadhu' (tentative title) that he is going to make with Balayya after the completion of 'Pandurangadu'.

If that happens, we can call Trisha as the heroine who acted with all top 4 senior heroes of Tollywood.

Chiranjeevi's Dance Recognized First By KK

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/chiru11198980361.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Chiranjeevi has been the greatest dancer on Tollywood screen, who made firm footprints in the history and that is needless to say now. But do you know who recognized the talent of Chiranjeevi first? That was Kranthi Kumar, the producer of 'Pranam Khareedu'.

While dancing for a duet in the film, he observed him keenly and said to CS Rao, the writer of the film, "This guy has very good flexibility in dance. I never saw an artiste with such flexibility. And even in present generation (during 1978) I feel there is no artiste who can dance like this".

Yes, the observation is perfect and what Kranthi Kumar said was majority opinion. There was no dancer to the standards of Chiranjeevi in his generation. All the young ones including heroes and choreographers took inspiration from him and turned able screen dancers.

Tollywood Director Of The Year 2007

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/shekarkammula1198987546.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

"The film was made with modicum budget. The film has all new faces. It's a college based story and there were many such movies before. 'His' movies are class oriented. It would be a wonder if he gets back his deposits this time. He is releasing the film along with 'Chirutha'. That is a wrong and over adventurous attempt. He is taking risk". These were the comments those were heard in a few sections of Tollywood just before the release of that film.

Well, 'he' is Sekhar Kammula and 'that film' is 'Happy Days. This director and the film turned buzz words of Tollywood this year. The triumphant success of this small budget film shook the sense of all top notch Tollywood bigwigs. The film released silently but sounded big bang at the box offices. All the new faces in the film turned top celebrities and youth icons now. The college based love story turned a bench mark and inspiration for many film makers now. It's not getting back the deposits; the film turned the heavy grosser this year in Tollywood. There were no ill-affects for this movie, although released along with big flick 'Chirutha'. Sekhar Kammula proved his mettle in bigger way this year with 'Happy Days'. He taught many film makers how a successful film can be made with soft and lively elements. The film ran with tight packed theaters for many weeks. All this was possible by Sekhar Kammula, the director.

So, Sekhar Kammula stands to be the director of the year 2007.

Reel Buzz: Hansika’s New Year with God!

Hopefully 2008 will be as good for me as 2007!!” Here’s to her divine New Year celebrations!

Reel Buzz: Hero Doing Wrong Things And Spoiling

The image “http://www.greatandhra.com/newsimages/navdeep1198956853.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

It's not just getting the opportunities that are important. It is picking up right things at right time on right banner is important for any hero to be successful in career. There are a few heroes who spoiled their career by picking up wrong things in their career. Navadeep, although a talented actor, made no prominent projection until the release of 'Chandamama'. The reason is that he didn't pick up right films at any time leaving 'Gowtham SSC' to be an exception. Allari Naresh is in the vigor of doing each and every film and taking no breathing space at all. But how many are turning hits in them? The reason is again the same. He is not taking up right films those have depth in script. Harish also lost his career due to same reason in last decade.

Now Rishi is following the same track. He is not at all bothering about the script of any film but simply nodding his head positively for every call. He acted in the film 'Maharajasri' that couldn't turn the heads of any. He came up with the film 'Bangaru Konda' that didn't record any inflow of audiences to theaters. He is going to come up with the film 'Geeta' which is another film with no publicity at its end.

Rishi is taking wrong decisions and spoiling his career, say industry sources. That appears to be true indeed. Let us see he takjes right steps from 2008 onwards.

Screen Buzz: Teja Starting His T-Factory!

This is the hot news from the Film Nagar sources. Teja is keen to start up a T-Factory which can be elaborated as Teja-Factory. That seems to be a clear inspiration from Ram Gopal Varma's 'Factory'. The word 'Factory' turned very popular ever since Varma started his banner. Mohan Babu's son Vishnu also started a banner with the title '24 Frames Factory'. Similarly a cloth show room named 'Brand Factory' turned very popular now in Hyderabad twin cities.

Freshly factory bug has bitten Teja as well, if this grapevine has to be believed. The intention of Teja is to make as many films as he can-majority of them being experimental. He is not going to bother for hit of flop but the policy is to make everything in low budget.

Let us see if there will be any renaissance in 2008 on Tollywood screen from this experimental end.

Afew days ago, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapur and tennis player Sania Mirza were seen together at a Bangalore five–star hotel. Reportedly, the hotel bellboy leaked out the news of the two spending time with each other in Shahid’s room.

Looks like Shahid Kapur and tennis player Sania Mirza are getting closer. The two of them are spending more quality time with each other. On Monday evening, Shahid and Sania were spotted having dinner at a suburban five-star hotel. They spent nearly two hours with each other.

Earlier this week, Shahid performed at a film awards function in Taj Land’s end. After the function got over, he drove straight to a suburban five-star hotel where Sania joined him. Says an eyewitness, “Shahid and Sania very much looked like a couple. They were completely engrossed in each other, and were oblivious of what was happening around them.”

A close friend of Shahid says, “Yes, Shahid did spend time with Sania on Saturday. They have been bonding very well with each other.”

Shahid’s friend went on to add that Shahid was never in a relationship with Vidya Balan, who is paired opposite him in Aziz Mirza’s Kismet Connection. “That link-up was merely to hype Kismet Connection,” he signed off.

We informed Shahid’s spokesperson to get his version of the story, but he remained unavailable for comment. We SMSed him too, but to no avail.
