Gifts For Mohan Babu, Rajamouli and NTR

Rajamouli said that the film 'Yamadonga' gave three gifts for three people worked for it.

He said, "Mohan Babu garu has been the great comedian, villain and hero. He felt very happy playing Yama and also the audiences have got the chance to see him in that role. That's a gift for Mohan Babu garu and he himself claimed that. Then Tarak (NTR) reduced a lot for the film and he said that the film turned out to be a gift for him that way. And coming to me, the film is a gift because it boosted the confidence in me that I can make a mass appealing mythological movie".

Rajamouli also said that he is going to make a film with mythological story line and not yet decided what to make.

Reel Talk: Shriya's Up In TN and down in AP

Shriya's career in Tamil is on the top but in Telugu that's not so impressive. She stopped at the point of item songs in Telugu.

It is also said that Shriya is demanding very big remuneration followed by her selection in Kandasamy (Mallanna in Telugu). Shankar wanted to re-shoot a few scenes for Hindi version of Shivaji. Although Rajni Kanth is fairly available, the dates of Shriya are not available. Actor Simbu is also planning to groove her as heroine in his film. Her remuneration is now Rs 75 lakh in Tamil. But still Shriya is not signing on new projects for the fear of dates' problems.

It is declared that Shriya is now giving tough fight for Trisha in Tamilnadu.

The promos are hitting the small screen promoting it showing the title 'MUSIC BY MAESTRO ILAYARAJA' in big bold letters. But the tunes are too horrible to listen. Were they really tuned by Ilayaraja? Similarly Ilayaraja has given tunes for a film called 'Shambhu' a few years back in which Aryan Rajesh was the hero. Even that was turned down miserably and the audio proved to be a big flop.

Allu Arjun Boasts His Loyalty To Ram Charan

Downing the curtains for the assumptions that a competition rift has started between Ram Charan and Allu Arjun, the latter came out with his statements freshly in an interview.

He said, "Vaadu (Ram Charan) chaala intelligent. He (Ram Charan) has great grasping that a dancing step that we learned after practicing for 15 days was done by him in two days. Then I understood the power of genes and blood".

Saying about Ram Charan's relation with him, "My father has been loyal to Chiranjeevi garu. But I will prove that I'm more loyal to Ram Charan. I'm here like this only because of Chiranjeevi garu. Without him I'm no where. Till now I have only one Chiranjeevi garu. But now I have two Chiranjeevis".

He also added saying, "I'm not surprised looking at Ram Charan's dance and fights. I know he will do that way. I also don't say thanks to fans sitting in the status of Chiranjeevi's family member. I'm also a fan here".

Nagarjuna to watch Happy Days

Nagarjuna has shown keen interest in watching Sekhar Kammula’s Happy Days. A special preview is being arranged for Nagarjuna tonight at 7 pm at Prasad labs. Another special screening of Happy Days is going to be done for Dasari at 9:30 pm tonight. Happy Days is doing extremely well in AP as well as in USA. The number prints is increasing from 25 to 50 today in Andhra Pradesh.

Puri - Ravi Teja’s Neninthe

Puri Jagan who delivered three blockbusters Itlu Sravani Subramanyam, Idiot and Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammai with Ravi Teja as hero is all set to direct another film titled ‘Neninthe’. The shooting of this film starts once Puri Jagan completes his venture ‘Bujjigadu Made in Chennai’ with Prabhas as hero. Puri Jagan will also produce this on his Vaishno Academy banner.

Medikonda film with Uday Kiran

Medikonda Murali Krishna (Narasimha Naidu fame) is going to produce a film with Uday Kiran as hero. The muhurat of this film will be held on 21 October on the eve of Vijaya dasami. The regular shooting will start on 22nd October in Ooty. KRK is going to be introduced as director with this film. Rama Krishna of Rakhi fame pens dialogues.

Chiranjeevi gives breather for Cong, TD

The "October 2 deadline" has passed and there's no news of film actor Chiranjeevi announcing a new political party in the near future. Though this is not something good news for lakhs of his followers and those belonging to his social group, the ruling Congress and the main Opposition Telugu Desam are a happy lot. The TRS too has taken a breather. But the baron of a media group, who has been thinking of a third alternative force in the State with the film actor in the lead, is also said to be unhappy over the "continued prolonged" delay by Chiranjeevi in announcing his own political party.

According to sources, the film actor is right now not keen on forming a new political party. He wants to study the political situation and then come out with his future plans. Moreover Chiranjeevi has still much of his film career left and if he jumps into politics, he has to leave the film industry once and for all. The film actor is weighing all the pros and cons before coming to a conclusion.

The Congress and the TD are happy over the delay. A delay of a few more months means that there will be no Chiranjeevi political party for the next Assembly polls. With hardly 18 months left for the next polls, the film actor has to announce the party now or wait for yet another poll due for 2014. But it will be too late. The new political party has to settle down and it needs at least one year. It took nine years for NTR to drive his nascent Telugu Desam to victory in 1982-83. If Chiranjeevi does not come out with the announcement before February 2008, it means that there will be a direct fight between the Congress and the Telugu Desam in May 2009 polls.

Viyyalavari Kayyalu is facing release problems due to unavailability of theaters due to the releases of biggies. Chirutha got recently released and we have Tulasi and Athidid queued up in the middle of this month. Hence producer Lagadapati Sridhar has decided to postponed the film to November 1. Neha Julka plays female lead. Ramana Gogula composed the music.

UTV uses cricket to promote Athidhi & Goal

MUMBAI: India's victory at the Twenty20 mini world cup series has definitely boosted the use of cricket as a platform for promotions. Now the ongoing India Australia one day series is serving as a platform for movie promotion.

On 5 October, during the on-going India Australia one day series being held in Hyderabad, promos of UTV's forthcoming Telugu movie Athidhi will be showcased on the screens in the stadium after every over, to approximately 62,000 people who will be present.

According to information available with media, the cost of this activity will be in the range of Rs 7 - 8 lakhs. Further, the rates are likely to fluctuate in proportion with the scale of the event.

UTV associate vice president, India distribution, Suniel Wadhva said, "In India, cricket has the highest reach and after India's victory in T20, cricket fever has reached a new high. Mahesh Babu is a sensation in Andhra Pradesh, so it would be interesting to screen Athidhi promos for so many people at one time."

If all goes well, UTV will also leverage this medium to screen Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal promos on two giant screens for the match to be held in Mumbai on 17 October to an audience of over 150,000.

In the past this on-field screen medium has been used for promoting banking and finance companies and consumer durables. Six months ago films too began to use this platform for promotion. Clippings of a Tamil movie Pachaikili Muthucharam was the first to be screened in Chennai during the India-West Indies cricket match. Chennai based firm Technology Frontier is at the forefront of such activities in India.

Screen Talk: What Is There In 'Bhayya'?

'Malaikottai' is the Tamil film that was released couple of weeks ago in Tamilnadu. Malaikottai implies a 'temple on hill'. The shooting of the film took place in Tirucchi where there is a temple on the hill. Vishal and Priyamani paired up in it. The film is now getting dubbed into Telugu and releasing tomorrow as 'Bhayya.

Vishal said that the film is titled 'Bhayya' in Telugu as the people in AP called him 'Bhayya' when he made his visit for the success meets of Pandem Kodi and Pogaru.

The film is a high voltage action drama where it is going in the B and C centers of Tamilnadu in considerable positive way. The film is running dull in A centers. We have to see how it goes in AP.

Two films have released this week out of which one is the much awaited block buster and the other is a film that enthralled critics and college students.

Ram Charan's 'Chirutha' has given success for Ram Charan but the film proved to be failed in substance. The audiences those have assumed that there would be good depth in the story of Ram Charan's debut have got disappointed. But Ram Charan entertained the audiences with his dances and fights. Critics say that Ram Charan's characterization, weak story line, feeble narration and Neha Sharma's acting made the film a dull retreat. The collections for this film in first week are very good but eventually a drop is observed.

But Sekhar Kammula's 'Happy Days' that was released in Andhra on 2nd October is doing very well by attracting college students. The film has depicted the relations between class mates in an engineering college in a very sensitive way. The film has made 100 percent openings in A centers.

Reel Talk: EVV With Ravi Teja and Sunil!

Unofficial sources said that EVV is now planning films with Ravi Teja, the shooting of which may tentatively start in January 2008. Then a film with Sunil is also planned, the story of which is written By Prithvi Teja.

Apart from this, EVV is in dire need to push the career of his eldest son Rajesh. He has been listening to many stories and planning to project him in right way. That way three films are in line from EVV's camp.

Right now EVV is busy on the film 'Pellaindi Kaani'. As soon as the completion of the film he will be busy with Ravi Teja's film.

'Viyyaalavaari Kayyaalu' Haunting and Not Leaving

The songs from the film 'Viyyalavari Kayyalu' are appealing for listeners as they are regularly played in FM radio channels. Ramana Gogula scored music for it and the songs have been ringing in the ears of people from quite long time. Many say that the song 'Suryude Sare Annade…' resembles 'Annayyaa Annavantey…' from 'Annavaram'.

The song 'Neela Neekallu' is standing as instant winner. We can listen to RP Patnaik's voice for the song 'Malle Chendaa' written by Veturi.

Buzz: Anti-liquor Roja caught boozing!

Film heroine-turned-Telugu Mahila president Roja, who has launched a war against belt shops (unauthorized liquor shops) in the State, was understood to have caught consuming liquor at her guest house.

According to grapevine, Roja, who has been extensively touring the Telangana districts as part of Palle Palleku programme and campaigning against belt shops, had a night halt at a guest house in Karimnagar. Knowing that she is a regular boozer, party people arranged her bottle of liquor from a nearby belt shop. She was enjoying the drink, when some local women entered the guest house to discuss about her action plan against the belt shops. And they were astonished to find her in an inebriated condition. So, they had to make a silent retreat.

These women activists later condemned Roja's double standards and wondered how this woman can run a movement against liquor.

House Wives Dancing For 'Vamp Songs'

A TV channel is organizing a show called 'Paripoorna Mahila'. The idea is to pick up the Mrs Andhra among the contestants. The contest will have many tests those assess the mental ability, emotional quotient, beauty consciousness, personality and bearing of the candidates. All the candidates are married and are in later 20s or 30s. There is a test in the contest where the contestants have to dance for two songs. The test has no sense and it is testing the patience and receptive sense of TV Viewers, as many say.

"How the married ladies dance for item numbers like '36 24 36..avi kolathalu kaavu orabbee naa phone numberu..'? It's nasty watching the family ladies jumping for the numbers. Should we make out paripoorna mahila out of those bitchy dances?" questioned Radha Kumari, a lecturer.

"They are in saris. And they are dancing for songs like 'Ippatikinka naa vayasu…' with nasty and vulgar movements. TV shows are degrading the married Andhra women", said Sreedevi, a housewife.

The show is passing on negative impressions among the viewers.

Rajnikant watches Chirutha

Tamil superstar Rajnikanth watched a special preview show of Chirutha film and congratulated Chiranjeevi about the performance of Ram Charan Teja. He described Ram Charan Teja as ‘Pedda Puli’ instead of Chirutha. He also said that Ram Chran Teja acted liked a veteran of 70 films and there are no traces of imitating Chiranjeevi by Charan. He said that Telugu film industry got a talented actor in the form of Ram Charan Teja.

Chief Minister Surprised To See This Actor

Producer Oscar Ravichandran has finally released the first official pictures from the forthcoming "Dasavatharam" to the media. There has been a lot of curiosity about the film ever since its launch almost a year ago, and the Internet was full of 'unofficial' pictures of Kamal Hasan whose get-up is varied in the film. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi who was shown a photo album is said to have been awestruck by the actor's looks. Kamal is doing 10 different roles in the film, but the pictures released to the media have no surprises. The producer's press note says shooting is over and the audio release will be held this month. It states: " 'Dasavatharam' can stand up to international scrutiny in terms of technical perfection and Kamal's acting can match up to that of any international actor."

Opinion: Open Letter To Puri Jagannath

Mr Puri Jagannath, I understand that you are very practical in your approach but you need to watch your words when you say something. A star director like you should not be saying all this. As per you, imported heroin's are very talented. My simple question is, what talent did Hansika exhibit in Desamuduru? What talent did Ileana exhibit in Pokiri and what talent did Neha Sharma exhibit in Chirutha? Didn't you use them only for songs n glamor? Did you give them any performance based role? Or, are they really capable to act before the lens? A simple fact with one of your heroin's, Hansika, is that she was kicked off from Bollywood after one film (Aap ka Suroor) because of her terrible acting and now she is back in Tollywood. It's proved many times that your so called imported actresses use Tollywood as a perfect launchpad to get into Bollywood. And, please don't compare heroin's with camera's. It doesn't make much sense.

Coming to the issue of Prakash Raj and Ashish Vidhyarthi, it's understandable why one casts them in their films, lack of villain's in Tollywood. There's no doubt that they are tremendously talented. I agree with you on those.

Coming to filming locations, going abroad, it's your / hero's obsession. Isn't it funny/foolish to see our hero's and heroin's dancing on roads in foreign lands and people look at them as if there is something wrong. Is that necessary? How can a director like Shekar Kammula show the grandeur of Andhra on Celluloid? How can it be possible for him and how come people like you go to foreign shores for shooting? If your hero insists and your producer is ready to burn his money then it's okay but going abroad for every movie you make raises doubts about you and your crew's hidden obsession's (like, erotic massage in Thailand, etc).

To conclude, it's not that Telugu girls are not available for us but it's people like you who are not interested in them and interested in other state (North) girls. You directly prove that famous proverb in Telugu, What we have in our house doesn't look good, but what we see in other's house appeals a lot to us.

1) "Yamaho Yama" ("Chiruta") - This song, sung by Tipu, continues to top the charts. A bi-lingual number, it has a lively, loud, youthful feel.

2) "Rubbaru Gajjulu" ("Yamadonga") - A new entrant on the chartbuster list. Music composer M.M. Keeravani gets bhangra king Daler Mehndi to croon this number - perhaps his first song in a south Indian language. Keeravani scores the music in sync with Daler's singing - a folksy, lively and lilting rhythm.

'Happy Days' is going to be dubbed into Tamil shortly as per the grapevine. Prakash Raj bagged the rights of the film to release it in Tamilnadu. The fresh talk also says that the producers from Bollywood are coming forward to buy the remake rights of the film. Dallas telugu movie market is typically about 50% of the NJ and about 40% of Bay area markets. On Friday 500 watched Happy Days in bay area and about 700 in NJ. 1157 people watched it in Dallas, which means almost the number which is equal to NJ and Bay area put together( 500+700=1200). Ramya Krishna's TV show 'Jara Masti Jara Dhoom' was shined with the presence of Jayaprada and Jayasudha this time. In a talk, Jayaprada said that she used to shout with the deeds of NTR during the shooting of Yamagola.

Talk: Sekhar Kammula Will Be Shyam Benegal Of Tollywood

Sekhar Kammula gave shrewd answers for many of the questions asked by people on phone in a live show. He is very pragmatic, sane and shrewd in giving answers and talked like a creative thinker with self conviction. He made 'Happy Days' that's already doing very good in USA and releasing in India tomorrow.

For a question, he answered, "The Telugu audiences are transforming from relishing the mass masala formula films to multiplex films with more rational thought. The change has come in Hindi. It has also come in Tamil. And now it is going to come in Telugu. There will be more experiments down the line in Telugu".

For another query, he replied, "My audience is 15 lakhs. I know making films only for them. I never make films to target audience. If I feel that a story can be made a film, I do that. I get 10 thoughts in a day and discard 9 and think about only one. If I get conviction that can be made a film, I start writing. Once the script comes out, I make a film. My 15 lakh audience never gets disappointed with my product. And they are increasing in number as well. Right now, a big hero's film may have 60 lakh audiences".

"A journalist asked me how much I took from the 8 boys and girls acted in 'Happy Days' for giving them debut. There no such deal here. I only paid them all. I used them for my selfishness as I felt that they fit into my roles. When I use for my selfishness, I have to pay them. That's all", he shared.

"He is very balanced and clear in thought. He believes in what he is doing. Surprisingly he is coming out with success all the time. Superstar, daughter to launch TV channel?

The latest news doing the rounds in Chennai is that Rajnikanth is planning to launch a TV channel of his own which will be named Superstar TV. And if sources are to be believed, the concept is the brainchild of his younger daughter Soundarya, who runs an animation studio called Orchre. Sources say that Soundarya has been toying with the idea of a TV channel for quite some time now. Though her father was initially against the idea, he later agreed after hearing what she had in mind. Soundarya didn’t want a run of the mill channel, instead she plans to start a global channel on the lines of the National Geographic channel.

She is presently working hard to complete the 3D animated film Sultan – The Warrior, featuring Rajnikanth. When this newspaper contacted Soundarya’s office, she was not available for comment as she is out of country in connection with her animation film. South India is believed to have the maximum number of television channels, the most recent addition being Kalaignar TV, started by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

But YVS Choudary is intending to release the audio on his own banner 'Yukta'. He did the same with Devdas as well. In recent times Yamadonga audio also went on in similar way on the banner of Vel Audios of Keeravani. We have to see how Okka Magadu audio will go.

Chirutha is unique film in Tollywood history , where it does not matter if the movie is good or bad, hit or flop, has story or not.. It's all about Ram Charan.. With instant fan following and mega expectations, everybody has the one question in their mind.

"Does he have the stuff to be a successor of Megastar?"

It's a huge test for Ram Charan and let's check how he has done as an artiste in different departments..

Acting: The writer (also the director) has created scenes filled with love, sentiment, comedy, anger and Charan performed like a seasoned actor. Especially the scenes involving his mother came out very well. Though there are some rough edges to be sharpened, overall he did a fantastic job, considering it's his first movie.
Score: 6/10

Diction: Typically debutant heroes has some kind of rawness in their voices, but surprisingly Charan has done his homework well and uttered dialogues with right kind of pitch , intensity and timing. Puri's sharp one-liners definitely helped to mask any short comings.
Score: 6.5/10

Dance: As a successor to megastar, there are lot of expectations on Charan's dancing abilities and he definitely meets or exceeds all of them. He has natural grace in his body and it's a treat watching him dance.
Score: 8/10

Fights: His introduction scene is with a fight which stands out as one of the highlights of the movie. His facial expression during action sequences is good.
Score: 7/10

Appearance: He may not be most handsome hero in Tollywood , but has enough glamour to say he is good looking. He has toned his body well and possesses good screen presence.

Rajendra Prasad gets Allu Ramalingaiah Award

Hero Rajendra Prasad gets prestigious Allu Ramalingaiah National ward. The annual award established in the memory of great comedian Allu Ramalingaiah was announced. The award will be presented to Rajendra Prasad on October 1st at Hari Hara Kala Bhawan in Secunderabad. Sarepally Kondal Rao, president for Allu Ramlingaiah Kalapeetham, informed the media that award ceremony will be conducted in grand manner. Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari presents the award. Megastar Chiranjeevi will be graced the occasion. Last year, Johnny Lever received the award.

SP Creations bags Bheema rights

Producer Nookarapu Surya Prakash Rao has bagged the Telugu dubbed version rights of hero Vikram “Bheema”. In a press note released, S P Creations informed that the film will be released simultaneously along with its Tamil version on Deepavali. “Bheema” is directed by Linguswamy and produced by A M Rathnam. Presently dubbing work for Telugu version is under way.

Bhumika to get married next month

Actress Bhumika Chawla is all set to marry her long time boyfriend Bharat Thakur. He is a yoga teacher and recently did a big workshop in Hyderabad.
