Heroine Sangeeta disappointed many in S.V.Krishna Reddy’s film, ‘Bahumathi’ with her pale looks. After undergoing treatment for obesity, she looked too thin and lost her charm.Though Reddy heaved a sigh of relief as he witnessed success after much gap with the film, the feed back he is receiving on Sangeeta’s looks is disappointing.
Nayanatara too received similar criticism for her role in ‘Dubai Srinu’. She too had undergone surgery for burning fat.
Many heroines have been realizing that playing the role of prostitute would be the best thing to turn the heads of media and people. Off and on some heroines attempt that. Earlier, Kareena Kapoor did that with the film 'Chameli' and Tabu also did that with 'Chandni Bar'. They definitely turned the heads of media with that portrayal. Similarly Rekha's appearance in Meera Nair's Kama Sutra as sex worker also turned popular. Sharmila Tagore also turned heads with similar role in a yesteryears' film in which Sanjeev Kumar played lead. The list goes undending with Sushmitha Sen, Manisha and many. It is common in Bollywood that almost all the heroines portrayed sex worker roles one time or other. The careers of many actresses won't fulfill there without showing themselves as sex workers.
But in south the syndrome is comparatively less Ramya Krishna acted in a film with the title 'Vesya' that was made in Malayalam and latter dubbed in Telugu as D-Grade material.
Recently Sneha played the role of a prostitute in Tamil film 'Pudu Pettai' that dubbed into Telugu as 'Dhoolpeta'. Now Sangeetha is portrating similar role in Tamil flick Dhanam. Rani Mukherjee is also portrayaing prostitute in 'Laga Chunariya Mein Daag' and 'Saawariyan'.
