Telugu Youth searching for roots and to grow
Dallas, TX: TANA is coordinating a completely youth focused "TANA International Internship Program (TANA- IIP) for the first time in the history of TANA. TANA-IIP committee has selected five students for this year’s Internship program at Hyderabad after a through scrutiny and rigorous application process. They are 1. Ms. Bhavana Chilukuri, 2. Ms. Sneha Jasti, 3. Mr. Prabhat Uppuluri, 4. Ms. Prathyusha Mididoddi and 5. Ms. Saritha Goriparthi.
Out of these five – Prabhat, Prathyusha and Saritha will work in Medical Field at “Medwin Hospital”, Bhavana will work in Social Service area at a “Physically Challenged Residential College”, run by Vegesna Foundation and Sneha will work at Jayabheri Real estates at High-tech city in Real-estate field.
This program will run from June 25th to August 3rd , 2007. TANA will fund for accommodation, local travel, food expenses of all these interns while they are in the program.
The main objective of this program is "to promote Telugu culture and bonds to Andhra Pradesh among younger generation of Americans of Telugu origin. This program will provide the Interns the direct experience of living and working conditions during their internship period in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India". We will make all efforts to ensure that our mutual goals are met during this internship program. Prasad Thotakura, who was unanimously got elected recently as Secretary of TANA and Chairman of this IPP Project said.
Prasad Thotakura giving details about the project said – Medwin hospital will rotate these interns in different fields to give exposure to all faculties. During their six-week stay in Hyderabad, some of the areas of focus are – Historical, Pilgrim, Geographically important places, Rural life, Business & Technology areas, Science and Medicine, Government and political awareness, Handicrafts & Rural Arts, Cultural festivals, Arts, Movie and Drama, News, Media, TV, Journalism, Community Service and NGOs.
Every intern will keep a trip journal, and will write an elaborate trip report with their experiences, suggestions for future programs including what is good and what is not. A lot of planning went in formulating this project and seek everyone’s patience and positive approach as we refine the process.
Mr. Vamsee Rama Raju, Managing Trustee of Vegesna will oversee this whole project in India as a Coordinator. Dr. Ramesh Kancharla, Diagnostics Director at Medwin will be the Program Director to Interns at Medwin. Mr. Murali Mohan will guide one intern at Jayabheri Real Estates as per her needs.
We are very excited to kick-off this project this year and wish these interns all the best with the program and a good time in our motherland. Dr. Bandla Hanumaiah, TANA President said.
