Astrology : Number thirteen can be lucky

Friday the 13th is considered to be the day for horrors. Everyone gets spooked the moment they hear the phrase. But is it really that scary? What’s more, people are even more afraid of the number 13 itself. It’s considered unlucky and people tend to avoid it as much as possible. But contrary to popular belief, the number 13 has nothing to do with luck. Astrologers and numerologists say that it is only in western countries where they believe that it is the devil’s number and Indians have also started following it. Says astrologer Surya Narayana, “The sum of 13 is four which is Rahu’s number. Rahu is a shadow planet and has nothing of it’s own influence. Therefore it depends on others for light. Similarly, people with the number four will be easily influenced by others and very often will be dual-minded.” Moreover, the number 13 is considered to be good for people born on 13th.

D. Bapaiah, a numerologist says that the number 13 is lucky for many people. “But you can’t make a blanket statement that there is no date that is lucky or unlucky for everyone. It mostly depends on the person’s name and date of birth. If 13th was a Friday or Wednesday it would not make any difference,” he adds. Says singer Hemachandra, “I never follow superstitions especially number 13. I believe that if you do anything with a pure mind and heart you can accomplish anything. Even my family members don’t follow such things.” He adds that during his Sa Re Ga Ma Pa days, there were few others who believed in it, but he managed to bring them out of it.

There are a host of superstars who were born on the 13th. Harrison Ford, Stevie Wonder, Alfred Hitchcock, Fidel Castro are some of them. Closer to home, Bollywood beauties like Sridevi and Juhi Chawla were also born on the 13th. “Fidel Castro is one of the luckiest people on earth. He lives in a very hostile environment surrounded by the non-communist world and he has still managed to survive. There have been several attempts on his life but he has escaped without a scrape. Sridevi, too didn’t have to struggle much to make it big in the film industry,” says Bapaiah. So, surely 13 is a lucky number for some.
