Kalyan Ram's Europe Trip With Jr. Nagma!
Kalyan Ram completed his pleasant Europe trip along with his co star Vedika, who is also called Jr Nagma. The film is yet to be titled and Samudra is directing that. Eedara Ranga Rao is producing the film.

The songs were shot in Germany , Austria and other pleasant places of Europe.

The film is being made as a remake of Tamil flick 'Sivakasi'. Samudra says that it will be an unforgettable film for Kalyan Ram in his career. Well, 'unforgettable' in what sense? Wait and see.

Posani's Covering For Receiving 'A' Certificate
Posani made a covering inferno for receiving 'A' certificate for his newly made film 'Operation Duryodhana'. He said, "A certificate says that the film should be watched only by adults. Who are adults? They are the people who can get the right to vote. So, all the citizens who are eligible to vote should watch this film. That way Censor board is rightly recommending adults to watch this film compulsorily. It's a film that tells how to vote and whom to elect".

How is that covering? Is that not convincing? Whatever we get, that should be projected in positive sense and show it as strength.

Innovative Program on Tollywood in 2032 AD

We all know about 'Time Capsule'. Yes, the term was made familiar on the last day of Tollywood's Platinum Jubilee.

Many producers, directors, actors and all had written something about their assumptions on Tollywood by the time it completes centenary and dropped those papers in Time Capsule. What they had written and how far their assumptions come true?

Imagining this subject an interesting TV program is made taking viewers to year 2032 AD, the Centenary year of Tollywood. Is that not an interesting idea? That spills laughs as well.

Media GO: Much ado about nothing

Media baron Ramoji Rao seems to be running out of ideas to attack the Y S Rajasekhar Reddy government and his people are digging out old stories to prove his point.

The story on media gag order was nothing but an attempt to malign the YSR government deliberately on the eve of Telugu Desam Mahanadu. That YSR was in the know of the media watch file and he had signed on the order was not a new story, but was published by Eenadu itself when the GO came out. Yet, Eenadu tried to project as if it had done some deep investigation into it. The story will have no impact, as the GO had already been withdrawn.

Ramoji's intention is clear: by publishing the story, he wants to instigate the TD leaders to move a privilege motion against YSR in the Assembly, which is yet another opportunity for them to embarass him and stall the House proceedings. Thus, the TD would get more and more publicity!

Balakrishna waiting for Muhurtam!
Yuvaratna Nandamuri Balakrishna is understood to have made up his mind to enter politics, but is yet undecided on the timing of his political arangetram.

According to sources close to NTR family, there is a broad understanding between Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu and Balakrishna on the latter's entry into politics, but Naidu asked him not to act in haste, because of various developments in the State political scene: such as growing Telangana sentiment, intensification of Leftists struggle, entry of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy into active politics and impact of Lok Satta. The political situation would get ripened in the next nine or 10 months and he could take a decision by that time.

"It would be ideal to pick up some emotional issue to catch the attraction of the people, so that it would have a greater impact on the electorate," Naidu is learnt to have told Balaiah. Indications are that the TD would intensify the "Telugu Atmagouravam" campaign in the coming months and Balakrishna would pick up the slogan to take a plunge into the politics before 2009 elections.

The moot question, however, is what role Balaiah is going to play in the Telugu Desam. Will he play a second fiddle to Naidu and if he does, whether his fans will accept the same? Well, Balakrishna is still keeping his cards close to his chest.

Women Falling Behind Cell Assuming Allari Naresh
Here is a funny incident that was revealed off late. In the film 'Attili Satti Babu' there is a van on which it was written 'Attili Sattibabu A-Z Services' along with a mobile number. EVV's idea was to give the phone number of a person who is among unit members.

The phone number of a unit member was given on that and then after the release of the film, the person started receiving calls from ladies and also a few male fans of Allari Naresh. Many assumed that the mobile number belongs to Naresh himself. Even the person is naughty that he bluffed the callers talking like Naresh with them.

At the end, everyone enjoyed it.

Purandareshwari feels isolated!
Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Daggubati Purandareshwari did what Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy or Pradesh Congress Committee president K Kesava Rao could not – reminding the people of the dubious character of Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu.

At a time when the media is giving too much coverage to the silver jubilee celebrations of Telugu Desam party and Mahanadu at Tirupati, Purandareshwari fired a powerful salvo at Chandrababu Naidu, questioning his moral right to use the name of her fathr and his father-in-law N T Rama Rao on the dais. She recalled every incident as to how Naidu ditched her father and how the latter disowned Naidu as his son-in-law.

Apparently, Purandareshwari feels isolated in the NTR family, which is rallying behind Chandrababu Naidu for the last few months. The family is not happy with Purandareshwari joining the Congress along with her husband. She was not invited to a family reunion meeting held at Balakrishna's house recently, nor was she informed of her about the alliance fixed between Balakrishna's daughter and Chandrababu Naidu's son. She reportedly spoke to Balakrishna and advised him against the alliance, but he ignored her. Thus, she is giving vent to her utter disregard for Chandrababu!

Gossip: Fight Between Kamalini and EVV!
Now there is a fight between Kamalini and EVV Satyanarayana. Right now EVV is about to make a film with Allari Naresh as hero and Kamalini as heroine. There is another hero in the film and he is Harish. Sources say that Kamalini is not inclined to act beside Harish. Reasons are not known for those feelings of her.

But EVV says that Harish is a good actor and he has better acquaintance with him right from the days of 'Prema Khaidi'.

The issue is going to be settled in a day or two. EVV is ready to remove Kamalini from the cast but not prepared to shun Harish at any cost.

Thailand Nude Massages For Director's Team

Now Thailand has become a big topic in Film Nagar. Whenever time permits people are leaving for Thailand. The directors also prefer Thailand as their favorite destination to shoot songs. The reason is obvious. Thailand is the best tourist destination where 'everything' is legal.

It's an incident that happened recently in Thailand when a film unit went there for shooting. The unit stayed there for 12 days. The renowned director who is also the producer of that comedy film gave big sum of money for the unit members to enjoy in the way they wanted.

The unit members enjoyed Thai massages of all kinds for those 12 days. They boarded in Royal Palace hotel (one of the two hotels that was shown in Yevadigola Vadidhey) where the director's room rent was Rs 1500 per day and for the unit members it was Rs. 1300. The director and his unit members spent about Rs. 2000 on body massages with girls. The unit members are sharing those experiences with many and praising the generosity of that director cum producer for showing them the 'rare happiness' of the world.

Well, there are stories about the Thailand experiences of unit members of the film 'Chirutha' as well.

NTR`s daughter ridicule`s Naidu`s claim
Charging TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu with "deceiving her father", D Purandeshwari, daughter of N T Rama Rao, has asked naidu to refrain from using NTR's name to "achieve political and personal gains."

In a letter to Naidu, Purandeshwari, who is the Union Minister of State for HRD and sister-in-law of TDP chief, recalled all those incidents which had "pained" NTR by trusting Naidu.

Naidu is currently holding his party's silver jubilee celebrations at Tirupati.

Purandeswari reminded Naidu of the last cassette recorded by NTR just before his demise which asked people of Andhra Pradesh not "cast their vote for you (Naidu)".

"NTR persistently refused to associate your name with himself during the painful last days of his life," she said.

NTR's son Balakrishna hints at entering politics
N. Balakrishna, Popular Telugu film actor and son of late thespian and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N.T. Rama Rao, Monday said he might join politics at an appropriate time.

He said his priority for now is films, but he did not rule out entering politics in future. He was responding to queries from his fans at a function in Kakinada to pay tributes to NTR on his 85th birth anniversary.

Family members, party leaders and fans paid rich tributes to NTR, who founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), currently Andhra Pradesh's main opposition.

NTR's son-in-law and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu paid tributes to the leader at the temple town of Tirupati at the party's 25th Mahanadu or annual convention. Another son of NTR, Harikrishna, a TDP leader, was also present.

Balakrishna's comments about his entry into politics are significant as only two days ago it was announced that Naidu's son Lokesh will marry Balakrishna's daughter Brahmnai.

The alliance was also being seen in some circles as an attempt by Naidu to put a halt to Balakrishna's political ambitions and at the same get closer to the NTR family.

Balakrishna's comments are not new. On Jan 18, the death anniversary of his father, he had said that he could make a surprise entry into politics, just like NTR did in 1982.

NTR, who enjoyed the status of a demigod in the state, had come to power in the state within nine months of launching the TDP.

Naidu had led a revolt against NTR in 1995, a year after he returned to power with a thumping majority. NTR died of a heart attack in 1996.

With none of NTR's eight sons matching his charisma, Naidu strengthened his position as his political successor. He still uses NTR's name to garner public support. NTR figures prominently in the TDP's publicity material and party meetings are held with huge pictures of NTR in the backdrop.

Meanwhile, NTR's second wife Lakshmi Parvathi, whose interference in party affairs and administration in 1995 led to Naidu's revolt, Monday paid tributes to NTR at his memorial in Hyderabad.

Parvathi, who went into political oblivion after her husband's death, alleged that Naidu had 'backstabbed' NTR to grab power but now that he is in opposition is using his name to come back to power.

Nostalgia: SVR's Hunger Was Unit Members Fear

SV Ranga Rao is known for his uncompromised approach on any of his personal aspect. He is fond of food and his huger hould be quenched in time. If the time crosses 2 pm without lunch then he would start shouting for the fear of all unit members. Once he made big uproar in the unit for not arranging him food till 3 pm.

People ran here and there to meet his requirement. No one would dare to give carrier to him even after the food has come from hotel. Because, they know that the carrier bearer has to receive all words of anger from him. At last things settled down with the involvement of producer.

SVR has forgotten everything and spend time happily with unit members once his hunger was quenched. Not only in the matter of performance, even in the matter of food he lived like a lion.

Spotlight: Ramoji May End Up As Maran!

Here we are discussing about an artiste, a businessman and a media baron those are sleeping with King Cobras. Yes, they are in false company and may get the bite any time,

Anil Ambani, the legal heir of a legendary industrialist Dheerubhai Ambani and big businessman by himself is behind Amitabh, Amar Singh and Mulayam all these days.

Why Anil runs behind Amitabh? Amitabh is a mere film actor while Anil is a responsible businessman. His brother Mukhesh maintains reserved ness with film actors and his property is worth Rs 1.2 Lakh Crore. But Anil is other way round. He keeps himself down standing beside Amitabh all the while. Amitabh is biased for SWP. How can his fans from other parties continue their favoritism? If not 100% there would be split of about 20%.

Now, the UP whip has gone into the hands of Mayawati. Reports say that attempts were started to curb the businesses of Anil Ambani. Well, that may not be a direct rivalry with him. It is only an attempt to weaken Anil and make him go away from Mulayam without supporting him. Amitabh also has some businesses on lands and they had been blessed by Mulayam till now. But now Mayawati is eyeing on them. What does it say? An artiste or businessman should project themselves neutral although they possess partiality to a political party. That's one aspect.

Now coming to Ramoji Rao we have to consider Dayanidhi Maran's case. Murasoli Maran was a nephew of Karunanidhi and the latter loved him very much. Murasoli's son Dayanidhi Maran wrote a critical analysis on the public following of Karunadhi's sons in his News Paper. We all know that one of the sons got infuriated for projecting him down in comparison with his brother Stalin and created big uproar in the state. Now Dayanidhi is made powerless and tyranny is triggered on him. The family that supported him all the while suppressed him now. Now Kalainjar TV is also going to hit as big vie for Sun TV that belongs to Marans. So with a small incident, the distances were ploughed big.

Ramoji Rao has been holding the tail of TDP publicly. On the other hand he is also suppressing Congress in his News Paper. That's good for Freedom of Expression. But he is not maintaining the poise being a media baron. That may affect him on detrimental line. Even though TDP comes to power in 2009 Ramoji Rao needn't consider that it would be a permanent soft journey with it. If Chandrababu feels that he is supreme in the state and his seat is not in trouble for few more years down the line, even a small cartoon in Ramoji's Eenadu may infuriate him. Ramoji may taste the venomous bite of 'Cobra' then. Apart from that, if Congress continues its power even after 2009, then again Ramoji will be on the gallows of tensions, stress and defeat.

So, it's high time for Ramoji and he should open his eyes. Will he try to be unbiased at least now? Or will he walk on the path of Dayanidhi Maran?

Indian Rupee May Fall on Currency Sales

The Indian rupee, the best-performing Asian currency this year, may decline as the central bank sells it to protect the nation's exporters, a survey of traders shows.

A slowdown in the pace of inflation to an eight-month low may give the Reserve Bank of India room to buy more dollars, after scaling back such purchases in March and April. The rupee gained 9.1 percent this year to a nine-year high, helping reduce the cost of imports and pressure for price increases.

``After the latest inflation data, the central bank is in a much better position to intervene and halt the rupee's gain,'' said Vikas Babu, a currency trader at state-owned Andhra Bank in Mumbai. Refiners may also increase dollar purchases as they settle month-end import bills, he said.

The currency climbed 0.1 percent to 40.55 per dollar as of 12:11 p.m. in Mumbai, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The rupee gave up a gain of as much as 0.8 percent to 40.2850, the highest since May 21, 1998, prompting speculation that the central bank sold the currency to stop its advance.

The rupee may retreat to 40.75 against the dollar this week, the median estimate of 10 traders surveyed by Bloomberg News showed. Deutsche Bank AG and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. last week both forecast the rupee will weaken to about 43 per dollar in 12 months.

Slower Inflation

The central bank, after buying a record $11.9 billion of dollars in February, has slowed its purchases on concern intervention will add rupees to the financial system, fueling inflation. The Reserve Bank bought $2.3 billion in March, data on its Web site show. It added about $4.9 billion to foreign- exchange reserves in April, part of which was through acquiring U.S. currency.

Wholesale price inflation in the week ended May 12 slowed to 5.27 percent, the lowest since September, a government report showed last week. The rate reached a two-year high of 6.69 percent at the end of January.

Slowing inflation also eases pressure on the central bank to raise interest rates. The benchmark overnight lending rate is at a five-year high of 7.75 percent, after five increases in the past year.

Exports, which make up about 12 percent of India's $854 billion economy, have slowed. Overseas shipments rose 8.8 percent in March from a year earlier, lagging the 21 percent increase for the year ended March 31, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said May 1.

Plea for Intervention

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's ``intervention'' to protect exporters, Shipra Biswas, the ministry's spokeswoman said on May 9. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., India's largest computer-services provider, last month said a rising currency will erode earnings.

The slowdown in exports is cooling the world's second- fastest growing major economy. Gross domestic product expanded 8.5 percent in the fiscal year ending March 31, after growing 9.2 percent last year, the central bank estimates.

The rupee is the best performer this year among the 16 most-actively traded Asian currencies as global funds bought $3.7 billion more of Indian shares than they sold in the year to May 24, exceeding net purchases in the same period last year of about $2.9 billion. Foreign direct investment tripled to $15.7 billion in the year ended March 31.

`Attractive Destination'

Such inflows may overwhelm the central bank's efforts to stem the advance. The currency may gain to 39 in the coming two months as scheduled share sales attract investment, said Vikas Agarwal, a Mumbai-based strategist at JPMorgan Chase & Co.

``India is still an attractive destination for capital looking for higher returns,'' said Agarwal. JPMorgan estimates capital flows, including direct investment, to exceed $5 billion in the next eight weeks.

DLF Ltd., a real estate developer, plans to sell as much as 96.3 billion rupees ($2.4 billion) of shares starting June 11. ICICI Bank Ltd., the country's biggest lender by market value, next month plans to raise about $5 billion.

Options traders have started to bet on the central bank stepping up sales of the currency. Indian rupee implied volatility, a measure of traders' expectations for price swings, has declined in the past month. Volatility on one-month rupee options is 7.50 percent, down from 9.5 percent on April 25, the highest since at least May 2003.

The Reserve Bank of India's determination to weaken the rupee will determine the currency's performance, said L.V. Prasad, chief currency trader at IndusInd Bank Ltd. in Mumbai.

``The RBI has been intervening and it depends on how long they can hold on to the support they are providing to the dollar,'' said Prasad.

Gossip: 'Don' Resembles 'Basha' Up to 60%
This is the gossip that is making rounds. Nagarjuna's 'Don' that is being made in the direction of Lawrence resembles 'Basha' of Rajni Kanth up to 60%. Well, if that is true will not that sound obsolete?

Lawrence earlier answering to a question said that the Telugu 'Don' will not take any resemblance with SRK's Hindi 'Don'. He also added saying that Hindi producer would come for remake rights after watching this Don. But if it takes the features of old 'Basha' that was released in 90s will it work at box office?

Need to wait and see how Lawrence carves and convinces.

Buzz: Is Tirupati Mahanadu jinxed?

The Mahanadu at Tirupati seems to be jinxed. When the Mahanadu was held in 2003, there was heavy rain accompanied by gales. The entire arrangements went awry. Since the Telugu Desam was in power then, help was sought from officials and everything was put in place. Then luckily the gales and rains wrecked havoc a day before the Mahanadu began.

Even on May 28, this Mahanadu, there was a heavy rain. The entire arrangements were disrupted. The rain began as the delegates were taking lunch. Though there were aluminium and zinc sheets, rain water started leaking and the ground became slushy.

Though rain is a good sign during summer as it brings down the temperature and gives life to drying up greenery, the May rain continues to create problem for the Telugu Desam during Mahanadus at Tirupati.
