Bollywood Special News

Amitabh Bachchan

French perfume company Lomani launched a perfume line after Amitabh Bachchan a couple of years ago.

It is a fragrance for both men and women -- Amitabh. B Pour Homme (for men) and Amitabh. B Pour Femme (for women).

According to Lomani, they have tried to capture the essence of Amitabh Bachchan in these fragrances.

Shah Rukh Khan

As with everything Big B, can Shah Rukh Khan be far behind?

SRK's French perfume called Tiger Eyes, also comes in two scents -- one for men and one for women.

After the Big B, we now have the essence of the King Khan himself!

Watching Mallika turn Mehbooba

In life, there come moments when you goggle.

It is abject helplessness as you -- forgetting even to flounder for the right words -- lose your rationality, your articulation, heck, any sort of coherence. You stand, stare, and hope that bewildered smile on your face is acceptable.

Such a moment it was, then, when I ran into Mallika Sherawat last week. In clockwork harmony, I arrived just in time, was ushered towards a big white trailer, and told ma'am would see me now. Fab. I entered, and turned to my right to see Mme Mallika, larger than life and thrice as spectacular, disarmingly dressed in full regalia.

'Do you like it?' she asked with a big smile, as we shook hands. 'It' was Helen's exact dress from Sholay, a bright green shiny top, a flouncy skirt made up of saffron and the same green, and Ms Sherawat's distinctive body, poured through it in a way that made your head spin. Plus, a crazy retro wig, Medusa ringlets crafted compellingly together in a careful mess.

"Yurg," I believe I manfully declared, as I continued the aforementioned goggle. She smiled, sat back, mercifully pulled a robe around her, and we started to talk.

Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty is one busy woman. After dishing out a spectacular performance at IIFA last weekend, the actress is all set to launch a perfume named after her. Called S2, it is named after her initials. The fragrance -- chosen by Shilpa herself -- will have a mix of jasmine, musk and fruit. The perfume will be packaged in a box with leopard print lining.
It was rumoured that the actress wore the perfume during thepremiere of her film Life In The... Metro

Zeenat Aman

Zeenat Aman was the first Indian actor to have a perfume launched in her name. Called Zeenat, the perfume was launched by a company in Saudi Arabia.

UK just cannot get over Shilpa Shetty

From Big Brother to Broadway, the actress has won a part in everything. Now, she will have a perfume in her name.

S2, named after her initials, was launched on June 12 at the Courthouse Kempinski Hotel in London.

Other film personalities who have a perfume named after them are Amitabh Bachchan [Images], Shah Rukh Khan [Images], Lata Mangeshkar and Zeenat Aman.

Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar's angelic voice has a scent to match.

Lata Eau De Parfum is a product of 78 ingredients. The perfume's launch saw a bidding war of sorts starting from Rs 5,000. Later, diamond merchant and film financier Bharat Shah got it for a whopping Rs 3,05,000!

Watching Mallika turn Mehbooba

The Mehbooba o mehbooba number, which should be hitting music channels any second now, is for Himesh Reshammiya's upcoming cinematic debut, Aap Kaa Surroor: The Moviee: The Real Luv Story, the baseball-capped composer having acquired the rights to the RD Burman original, from Sholay.
Saroj Khan is choreographing the song, and Mallika's thrilled to be working with Bollywood's dancing diva. Evidently the veteran choreographer is quite a blast as she mimics the steps, and the actress is completely gung-ho about this first outing with Khan. For now, she's all dressed up and waiting to be called, and over coffee, we talk about her turning producer, and how she watches films by the bucket-load.

Everyone loves Little Miss Sunshine, but the conversation really turns a blast when bonding with the woman over one of the most overlooked films of last year, Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron's breathtaking Children Of Men. And while I agree with Mallika that Julianne Moore was wasted in the film -- any movie can always do with a bit more Julianne -- it was still a classic.

The actress sits back, discussing world cinema -- while casually, distractingly crossing and uncrossing her legs -- emphasising that she isn't a party girl. A good DVD and she's happy on a Saturday night.

The bubble bursts, and we leave the van. The sets beckon.
