Spy Report: Paul and his shenanigans!

Some godman or the other, it appears, rules the roost in the corridors of power in New Delhi and elsewhere until he gets discredited and someone else takes over.

The latest example is that of evangelist K A Paul, who was a most sought after godman during the NDA regime. The grapevine has it that some Telugu Desam Party MPs virtually worked as his public relations men and escorted him to the events held by every conceivable VIP, political or otherwise, in New Delhi.

Many of the MPs used to go to the airport to receive him and would also fix appointments for him with ministers and former prime ministers.

According to a little bird, at a lunch meeting organised by the evangelist in New Delhi’s Taj Mansingh hotel four years ago, about 70-odd MPs raised their hands like school children when Paul asked as to who all would like to accompany him on a ‘peace mission’ world tour.

Interestingly, the evangelist is believed to have organised trips for bureaucrats to the United States, and many AP babus were said to have been beneficiaries and participants at the seminars organized by him on subjects like international peace, prevention of war etc, the world over. Indications are that the coming days may throw many more surprises, but K A Paul was out of reach for his comments.
