City Buzz: Mumbai-Pune trees in Shamshabad?
One has surely heard of the concept of transplantation of trees what with civic authorities mouthing such concepts everytime they want to chop trees in the city to expand roads.
They also claim that the cut trees are nurtured in nurseries (or whatever) till they are put back once again, though at a new location. These are of course claims that nobody in this environmental-consciousness lacking city has ever checked. But now it seems that two huge trees being cut on the Mumbai-Pune highway are getting relocated and transplanted in Hyderabad.
The new location will be outside the upcoming Shamshabad airport. Apparently the promoters of the airport are keen on having a green airport and for this reason have farmed out contracts to nurseries as far as Rajahmundry to grow and nurture plants. These will be transplanted to the airport precincts in a year’s time. All this is for real.
