Spotlight: Shilpa slams 'wild accusations'!

Shilpa Shetty has hit out at "wild accusations" that she helped ruin another woman's marriage.
The Celebrity Big Brother winner has been romantically linked with British-based Indian businessman Raj Kundra, 31.
But his estranged wife Kavita, 25, the mother of his 10-month-old daughter, claimed her husband's obsession with the Bollywood star ruined her marriage.
A spokeswoman for the 32-year-old actress said she and Kundra were just friends.
The star has now released a statement criticising the "baseless allegations against me of ruining her [Kavita Kundra's] marriage".

She said: "My understanding is that Raj and Kavita's marriage was over a year ago and they have filed for divorce and have been living separately for over a year.
"I met Raj Kundra three months ago in a business capacity, so where the question of me breaking up her marriage arises, this is impossible as I have known him for 12 weeks.
"I am disgusted by her reported comments and completely refute the allegation."
She warned of legal action if the allegations continued.
"My culture and upbringing does not permit me to break marriages and I am the least interested in knowing or hearing any more about her."
Shilpa said her "conscience is clear" over the "wild accusations".
Kavita has been quoted as saying: "Now I look at the pictures of them together and think, she's with my husband, she's living my life.
"She can have any man she wants and there are plenty of single men about."

Though the affair between Devi Sri Prasad, a music director and Charmy, a heroine is an open secret in the industry, many do not know how strong his fascination for her is. He cannot let a day pass by without seeing her.

The family of Monica Bedi has sought police escort from jail to airport fearing attacks from rivals or mobbing by fans. The police said no. The police also suggested that the film actress make her own security arrangements.

Dil Raju and Puri Jagan are jointly producing a film titled Hello Premistara in the direction of Raj Kumar with Sairam Shankar (Puri Jagan’s brother) and Sheila in the main leads. Shooting of this film is almost complete. The unit of this film arranged a press meet today at the office of Vaishno Academy. Here are the excerpts -

Dil Raju said, “We liked the script a lot when Raj Kumar narrated it to us. That is the reason why we have decided to produce it jointly. Though it is a love subject, there is an interesting element attached to it. There will be lot of entertainment orientation to the narration of the story. We started the shoot on 15 March. The shooting is complete but for a song. Audio will be launched in the first week of August and movie will be released in September. Chakri has given 5 wonderful songs.”
Director Raj Kumar said, “This is my first Telugu film. I worked as an assistant director for a few Tamil films. I feel it as honor to make my debut in Telugu through a film that is produced by Dil Raju and Puri Jagan.”
Hero Sairam Shankar said, “Raj Kumar has done a fabulous work. He presented me in a new light and variety get-up. I hope that this film will give a big break to me and the director as well.”

Snippet: Vishnu Has Chosen His Comfortable Path

Vishnu Vardhan Manchu seems to have chosen his comfortable path now. He acted in the film 'Dhee' with subtle humor in his role. Although he played many action packed roles before, none could survive at the box office. It's only 'Dhee' that brought him fame and success. Now it is said that he is acting in the direction of P Vasu, a remake of 'Bruce Almighty', in which Nagarjuna is playing the role of 'God'.
The Vishnu going to play in Vasu's direction is the one played by Jim Carrey in 'Bruce Almighty'. The character is packed with full dose comedy and we have to see how Vishnu enacts that. Fresh gossip says that Raja Sekhar is running behind getting the remake rights of the movie 'Kreedom'. It is also learnt that SRK will be producing the film for Shankar with the post-production in the USA. “Since Krrish, Shah Rukh has been keen on making a sci-fi film. He agreed to do Ram Gopal Varma’s Time Machine, but Ramu shelved the project because he wanted to remake Sholay with Amitabh,” adds the source. SRK and sci-fi — now that’s some combo!

Box-Office: Very Weak Week At Box Office

Laksyam:The collections of the film are good although all the shows are not becoming full in week days. The film got above average talk and that is sustaining it in theaters and the collections are also impressive. Anushka, Gopichand's magic worked for masses while Jagapathi Babu's vigor added to it with his presence. The film sits in position-1 of the toppers list of the week.

Sivaji:As there is no other new film to compete, the film 'Sivaji' is bagging considerable collections. There is heavy drop in collections all over, and slowly it is trailing behind. On an average the film is making about 50% of collections. The much hyped film is not sustaining longer in theatres. The film sits in position-2 of the Toppers list of the week.

Toss:The film is making 30-40 percent of collections now. Upendra, Raja, Priyamani and Kamna starred flick in the direction of Priyadarshini Ram stood as an example for technical extravaganza but lacked in required tempo in screenplay and the spirit of essence. Efforts are being made by the team to push the film among audiences. As of now, it sits in position-3 in the Toppers list.

Dubai Seenu:This Ravi Teja, Nayantara flick is still running well in theatres with considerable collections. Srinu Vaitla's direction with blends of comedy although narrating an action based sentimental flick made it run well even after many weeks of release. MS Narayana scored big with this film. The film sits in position-4 of the toppers list of the week.

AMAV:The film is about to hit 100 days shortly and still it is doing well in theaters. There is no other family oriented film in theaters other than this and hence the collections are considerably better. Trisha, Venkatesh combination appealed the mass as well as family audiences and the film is running well even now. It is in position-5 of the toppers list of the week.

Gossip: Mohan Babu's Sarcasm On Dasari and KRR!

Mohan Babu is known for his biting sarcasm in comments. He doesn't spare even his seniors.

He happened to meet the veteran directors Raghavendra Rao and Dasari together in one function. Director Rajamouli was found along with them.

Mohan Babu drew comparison between Rajamouli and Raghavendra Rao.

He said the two had a vice in common. 'They use and throw people'.

He didn't spare Dasari, who had been his mentor. "Dasari could ditch his loyalists for the sake of power and recognition", he said. Both the senior directors kept mum for his remarks and didn't shoot him back.

‘Hansika did not take steroids to look older’

Buzz had it that actress Hansika Motwani better-known as Rheaa of Aap Kaa Surroor had taken steroids and supplements to look older not only to match with Himesh Reshammiya, but also bag the lead in other films as an actress.

Manzoor Khan, her makeup artiste in the film, however denies the story saying that Hansika and he had worked together on her look.
"I am responsible for the mature look that Hansika has in the film," he says. He adds, "It was the magic of my brush and the makeup technique that helped Hansika look older than her actual age."
Manzoor says that he had worked out several alternatives for Hansika. "I realised that with straight hair Hansika looked much younger and thus gave her curls so that she would look older. Usually, I use minimum makeup on my artiste, but with Hansika it was the other way round. I deliberately chose to do heavy make-up especially around the eyes and lips so as to make her look like a girl in her 20s," he says.

Dr Shilpa Shetty, 32, might soon be referred to as Dr Mrs Shetty if reports about her romantically getting involved with London-based 30-year-old Indian businessman Raj Kundra, materialise into their doing the seven pheras.

Rumours had been floating about their being close since the last few weeks and the Mail Royal had hinted about their likely marriage early this month. Two prominent Indians from Mumbai who were in London during the IIFA weekend in Yorkshire had also told HT that Shilpa and Kundra were more than just an item in the celebrity circuit. The two were said to be constant companions for the past few months.
Kundra is a married man and has a 10-month-old daughter.

Monica to get out of jail, SC clears her release

The Supreme Court on Monday relaxed the bail conditions of Monica Bedi, former Bollywood actress and companion of gangster Abu Salem, by directing that she would not have to surrender her passport as it has been lost.

The Court directed that her passport issued by the Regional Passport Office, Mumbai be cancelled and the Special CBI Judge in Hyderabad will consider the order while releasing her on bail.
The order to this effect was passed by a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan after Bedi`s counsel informed the Court that she was not in possession of the passport.
Bedi has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Andhra Pradesh High Court in a case of forged passport. In another similar case, a Madhya Pradesh Court has acquitted her.

Nagarjuan also changed his mind with respect to multi star films. Once he said that multi star films in Tollywood are far from reality due to budgetary constraints and the expectations of fans.

Buzz: When Jagapathi Babu Lost his Cool!

It is indeed tough time for Storm pictures that entered into the film making with the blessings of Varma. We hear that Storm's upcoming flick with Jagapathi Babu directed by J.D.chakravarthy is undergoing some problems.
According to sources a huge tiff broke on the sets between the lead star Jagapathi Babu and the director JD resulting in Jagapathi's walkout.
"JD has tendency to shoot the same scene over and over again, even when everyone present there could see that a take was fine, really got on Jagapathi's nerves," says a source on the sets.
Another major difference arose during the Scripting of the film when director JD approved the earlier version. Apparently Jagapathi was not satisfied with the earlier one as he felt that it was not up to the mark. JD promised to rewrite the script according to Jagapathi's suggestions but he failed to do so.

However the production house denies that there were any rift between the hero and director. But it is not the first time JD having differences with his team. This may be the reason why he is still struggling even he was proved long back as an actor and director.

"Just because I've done a certain kind of role it doesn't mean I am open to such behavior," said Mumaith speaking of the incident that had taken place while she was standing with her friend at the entrance of that Hyderabad star hotel.
"I too came from a decent family, have god fearing parents and feel offended by lewd behavior just like any other normal girl."
Mumaith admits men tend to look at girls with 'sexy' desires in a particular way and hence she says that she behaves accordingly with them.

The dialogue is " Nyayaaniki Anyaayaniki, Dharmaniki Adharmaniki Madhya sangharshana jaruguthunnappudu goda meeda pillila vunde vaadini sala sala kaage nunelo veyisthaaru ee narakamlo.."
That's one aspect which smells fishy and leads to pseudo assumptions of many about that 'person' in Mohan Babu's mind.
Freshly he said another thing that appears to have said by keeping a person in his mind, again. He said, "My son Vishnu's 'Dhee' ran for 100 days genuinely. Even my films run only genuinely. We never try to push it for 100 days although people are not watching, like others. Right now Dhee is running beyond 100 in about 40 theatres".

Mohan Babu Trapped Entire Electronic Media

Mohan Babu has his own way of keeping entire electronic media in his proximity. He invited all the heads of different television channels and FM radios for the launching of '24 Frames Factory', for which Vishnu Vardhan Manchu is the CEO.
Right from TV9 Ravi Prakash, MAA TV Sarath Marar, ETV Bapi Needu to the heads of SFM, Big FM and all have come for the launching of the same. 24 Frames provides the video content pertaining to films to TV channels and also entering into IP TV. There will be daily correspondence between 24 Frames Factory and electronic media channels if the contract is signed with them for taking the exclusive video content from them.
In the function, it is observed that TV9 Ravi Prakash moved very close with Mohan Babu and both appeared like thick friends for many. It is really a good idea to keep entire electronic media in intact.
Apart from this '24 Frame Factory', Vishnu Vardhan Babu is also heading 'Think Smart', the animation studio.

Controversy: Prakash Raj ousted from Athidhi?

Character actor Prakash Raj has landed in yet another controversy.

According to sources, Prakash Raj was allegedly removed from the latest Athidhi because of differences with the director and the lead actor. Actually, he was part of the Mahesh Babu starrer, but once the film started rolling, Prakash Raj was said to be coming late for the shooting. This reportedly irked the director and the lead actor.
The director reportedly decided to complete the film without Prakash Raj. It is not known whether Prakash Raj’s role will be chopped off or shortened in the light of the controversy.
This was not the first time that Prakash Raj landed in a controversy. Earlier too a few producers complained against him about his late arrivals at the shootings.
Now Bollywood actor Sushant Singh, who acted in Ram Gopal Verma’s films and the recent Raviteja’s Dubai Seenu has been roped in for the main villain’s character in place of Prakash Raj.The movie is slated for release in the first week of September. It is being produced by Mahesh’s brother Ramesh.

Siva Nageshwara Rao Learned His Lessons

Siva Nageswar Rao confessed that he made mistake by making 'Photo' in his own production that ended him in losses.
He said, "People expect comedy from Siva Nageshwara Rao. But I made horror picture 'Photo'. People shunned that film with out any mercy. There are some people those said that I made good film although ended up in losses. I learnt that one needs to experiment in slow fashion but shouldn't switch over to new formula or type all of a sudden".
He also said that he struggled a lot to enter film industry and ate only once in two days while living in Chennai. He said that his family background is sound enough to live I better conditions and food, but his desire to become a film director kept him in starving many a time in the initial days of his career.
He also recalled the bitter memory of losing his father who said that he would watch the Preview Show of his first film in Hyderabad.
Siva Nageshwara Rao worked as Co-Director for 'Shiva' and Ram Gopal Varma gifted him with a gold ring after wards, on which it is carved 'Shiva' title logo. He showed that ring during the interview with all happiness.

K Basireddy, Chairman and Managing director held an exhibition of the camera for the press and the prominent members of film industry.

Interview with Baba Sehgal

Baba Sehgal is perhaps the only one who made India swing to the rap music for the first time with 'Thanda Thanda Pani' (a remake of ice ice baby by Vanilla Ice). But he has gone into hibernation in the last few years. Now he is all set to storm Andhra Pradesh with a pop Telugu direct album to be produced by Raju Harwani (Supreme Music).Here are the excerpts -

How much did it cost when you started the revolution of rap singing in India?
Dil Dhadke is the first Indian music video that won MTV US award in the international arena. I was paid 20,000/- for my work. The making of video cost Rs 45,000/- which includes the remuneration of hot girl Pooja Bedi. Two more songs (Manjula and Thanda Thanda Pani) won MTV US award.

What was your first album?
My first album was Dilruba (1990) and second was Ali Baba (1991). But my third album Thanda Thanda Pani became a rage across the country. With the popularity I gained with this album, I could sell my first two albums at a faster rate.

You were not seen on Indian music scene post 2000. Reason?
I moved to the USA and was giving many stage shows. Stage shows were my bread and butter as there was lot of money in it.

You are more known as rapper. What are your other interests?
I am into TV shows big time. I am anchoring a top show called 'Santa Banta Newz Unlimited' besides doing a reality shown for Zee TV.

Why did you choose a Telugu album as a comeback vehicle?
I did more than 22 albums and sung in many Hindi films. But none of the Hindi film songs gave me that recognition I got for my Roop Tera Mastana (Rikshavodu) and Rukkumini (Roja) songs. I find that the people in Telugu are more creative and more patient. The Hindi pop album scene has become like a factory where they spend less time on conceptualization. I got lots of offers in Telugu after I have done Roop Teja mastana song, but could not do it as I was away in the USA and Europe for stage shows. I missed films of Chiranjeevi, Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan films during that time. I think that it was a mistake not to encash on the success at that time. I want to make it up now by doing a straight Telugu album.

What can we expect from this Telugu album?
There will be eight songs. All lyrics will be penned by Sobha Reddy. There will be a breeze of freshness in it and I make sure that a lot of thinking will go into this entertaining product. It is going to be a challenging task to learn Telugu and do a rap album in Telugu. But I am sure that I will succeed it with the help of producer Raju Harwani.

How different is Raju Harwani?
Raju Harwani has time and patience to sit with me and involve in music discussions. Since he is a music label owner, he knows how to extract appealing tunes. I feel very fortunate working with him.

When will that album release?
I am expecting it to hit the stores by September 2007. There is going to be a sizzling video to promote these songs in a big way.

Are you open to sing in Telugu films as well?
Yes. I already accepted a couple of songs now. I want to act in villain roles in Telugu films. I am sure that I would prove myself if given the right character.

Who influenced you the most?
I am a great fan and follower of Kishore Kumar. But my image of rapper is overshadowing my ability to sing melodious songs. I can sing melodies better than most of the contemporary singers.
Among the black singers, I like Will Smith the most. He is an all-rounder.

What is your opinion on Himesh Reshammiya?
I hold a tremendous respect for him. He delivered 28 hits in the last year and 20 hits this year. His film as hero 'Aap Ka Surroor' too is a commercial hit. He is a phenomenon in Hindi film industry. He charges the maximum (around 40 lakhs per appearance) for a stage show.

What is your take on girls dressing scantly and gyrating pelvis to sell music albums?
I am not against using women to sell albums. But women should be shown sensuously without being vulgar. All these gyrating moments by girls are vanishing overnight after becoming extremely popular after one remix songs. Where are Meghana Naidu, Rakhi Sawant and Shefali Zariwala (Kanta laga fame) now? Unfortunately these girls get more remuneration than the singers who rendered their voice.

What is your opinion on singing talent contests?
All these contests are being held for increasing TRP ratings of the TV channels. But I doubt how my they are helping the young aspiring singers to find a career after the contest is over.

What is your impression about south film industry?
I am very much impressed with Rajnikant. He does lot of charity and he never tells anything about it to the media. I am awed by the hype created by Sivaji film nationwide. I think Sivaji film made the North India to sit up and take notice of South Indian film industry. I love his styles and his charisma on screen. My son is one of the innumerous north Indians who watched Sivaji for Rajnikant. Probably Rajesh Khanna is the only star who has such stardom like Rajnikant in the entire India since the birth of Indian film industry. For 2-3 years Rajesh Khanna ruled the roost as superstar where lots of women renamed their husbands as Rajesh.

What are your current projects?
I sung in a film titled Lonawala Khandala Ghat which is due for the release. I have couple more songs in Telugu apart from this album. I am seriously considering a career in Telugu. Please wish me the best.

Shilpa Shetty blamed for marriage break-up

LONDON: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, winner of Big Brother reality TV show and a recent recipient of a honorary doctorate from Leeds University, has been accused of wrecking a marriage by a UK-based film producer's wife.
According to the News of the World tabloid, 25-year-old Kavita Kundra claimed the 32-year-old Bollywood diva is now "an item with her film producer husband Raj".
"Our marriage was in a rough patch but I was certain we could make it work for the sake of our new baby daughter. But then along came Shilpa. Suddenly Raj changed and now he wants a divorce," Kavita told the tabloid.
Reacting to the report, Shilpa's spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar said in Mumbai, "the two are just friends, however cliched it may sound."
"All these rumours of Shilpa and Raj getting married are baseless. Raj is the licensor of the perfume Shilpa launched recently, so obviously they were seen together at public places," Bhagwagar said.
Asked about his relationship with Shilpa, Raj, 31, also told the tabloid: "We're just friends. I have a business relationship with Shilpa regarding her perfume. My marriage ended 12 months ago and it was nothing to do with Shilpa."
Later he telephoned to say he had only been estranged from his wife for nine months, according to the tabloid.
Bhagwagar also said the two met only four months ago, whereas Raj and Kavita separated 10 months back. "There is no question of Shilpa breaking their marriage."
According to Kavita, Raj broke the news of his secret relationship with Shilpa in February after she found fame in the Big Brother house as the victim of racist bullying.
Kavita admitted their three-year marriage had been through a rocky patch, but insisted: "Up until then Raj had been talking about putting it back together, making things work for the sake of our daughter."
Kavita's remarks come after a week of gossip fuelled by snaps of Shilpa and Raj -- who helped launch her S2 perfume -- shopping together. He also escorted her to a recent "Bollywood Oscars" bash in Yorkshire.

Perhaps one of the best looking couples in Bollywood, John Abraham and Bipasha Basu have had a relationship for around 5-6 years now and everything seemed to be going hunky dory till some time ago when the rumours of John being linked with certain other colleagues from the industry started surfacing.

With the shooting of his YVS directed Okka Magadu, still underway, actor Balakrishna is all set to attend the muhurat of his next venture, the periodic film Ranga Panduranga, to be directed by ace filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao, on 8th August. The film is rumored to have 12 heroines portraying the roles of various Gopikas, though the main leading lady of the film is yet to be finalized. Paalamoor NRI Forum adapts Chenchu school

Paalamoor NRI Forum(Palamoor.org) a voluntary organization which is working in the most backward mahabubnagar district of the nation has recently adapted a Chenchu(Tribal) school in the district upon request for help by Dist Superintendent of Police Ms. Charu Sinha and school secretary, sri Ashok Reddy, and decided about helping the school. The Chenchu Peetam was initiated by Saraswathi Shishu Mandir Vidya Peetam Members and have taken 100 students from 27 chenchu pentalu (villages) and providing studies to them. But these students don't have dresses because they were running on own finance of adapted agency. This school (Vanavasi Kalyana Awasam) was started in 2000 with a limited grant from govt. Then, Saraswathi Sishu Mandir collected contributions and kept on strenthening it. As part of further strenthening the school The Dist SP approached NRIs to do the needful.

NRI's under co-ordination of Ravi Mayreddy have collected finances to help students acquire dresess, books and stationary for the current finacial year. During Recent whirlwind tour of rural areas of the district by its NRI representative Vijay Chavva has awarded this material to School secretary Sri Ashok Reddy in the presence of District Incharge SP and ASP Sri.Sathyanarayana and Loksatta and NGO Organization Dist. All these were in audio format. The commercial success of these albums is modicum. All the successful devotional albums in recent times were in Sanskrit targeting wider sect of Hindu population in entire India. 'Vishwa Vinayaka' is considered to be the super hit devotional album in recent time composed by Atul and Ajay. They also bagged the chance to compose music for 'Gaayab' and other films.

The elections to Deputy Speaker's post in the Assembly, scheduled to be held on Monday, has proved to be yet another farcical exercise undertaken by Y S Rajasekhar Reddy government.
The Chief Minister, who had dodged the issue of cabinet expansion for nearly three years and taken it up only under tremendous pressure, has chosen a totally inappropriate time to appoint the Deputy Speaker. There was no reason why he delayed the appointment of a Deputy Chief Minister for the Assembly for such a long time. After everybody declined to accept the post for such a short period (hardly two years are left for them to be in the post), YSR managed to convince senior Congress MLA G Kutuhalamma to accept the post, though she was reluctant for it as she was strongly trying for the ministerial berth
Like the chairmen of regional boards, Kutuhalamma will hardly have any job to do. She can at the most chair two budget sessions, two winter sessions and a monsoon session, provided she gets the opportunity. Being a good speaker and a sincere politician, who always takes up issues pertaining to her constituency, she will now have to shut her mouth in the Assembly!

Certain times the similes (comparisons) in speech put down the persons although the intention of the speaker is to glorify them. Similar thing happened during the audio release function of 'Yama Donga'.
Brahmanandam, during his speech, said, "We have two oxen on this dais. One is Mohan Babu, the Ongole Ox and the other is NTR, a tiny calf that is actively jumping".

Although the intention of Brahmanandam is to glorify the strength of those two actors, the comparison with animals sounded inappropriate for many of their fans. But there is no uproar during the event and everyone maintained their poise. Even Mohan Babu and NTR are quite while Brahmanandam was speaking.

Screen Talk: Venky and Nayantara fly off!

Two big stars, Nayanthara and Venkatesh are all set to head to Germany this week. It’s for a film by Boyapati Sreenu, which will be shooting two songs in phirang land. The film is likely to be titled as Tulasi, but the unit hasn’t yet announced the title. Apparently, Venkatesh has been jet-setting across countries a lot these days; but Venky is very professional, he will not complain even if he’s completely pooped, says industry insiders.

Meanwhile, this is the second film of Boyapati Sreenu after Bhadra. And most new director’s in the industry suffer from the second film itch. And all their second films have flopped!

Prem Rakshit: 'Hair Raising Looking At NTR'

Prem Rakshit is one of the choreographers for 'Yamadonga'. He is from Chennai and speaks broken Telugu. He shared his experience with Rajamouli and NTR this way.
"Yamadonga is my third film with Rajamouli. I worked for 'Chatrapathi' and 'Vikramarkudu' so far. Now I composed 2 dances for 'Yama Donga'. One is 'Noonugu Meesalodu' shot at Vizag. The other one is 'Nachore..' canned on floor. I have to tell an experience here. I imagined a step two years ago and never dared to attempt that on anyone. I always tried that and never able to do that fully. While I was practicing that Rajamouli watched me and said the step is really wonderful and it should be there in the film. Then I was worried. It was becoming very difficult for me and I wondered how NTR can do that. If the leg twists in practice itself, the problem will be very big. But I dared to show that step to NTR with lot of effort. NTR said, "It's cool" and did that in first attempt itself. The very next day, the shooting was over. My hair on my hands stood up while watching NTR doing that step. He is really marvelous".
The step was revealed out in a trailer but lasted only for a few seconds. It is said that the step lasts for quite a long time in the dance.

Spy Report: Y S Jagan armtwists new TV channels!

It has been a long wait for the two new television channels – TV5 and NTV – to see the light of the day and the staff working in these channels are getting frustrated over the inordinate delay in their launch.
Inquiries revealed that the reason for this delay is Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, son of Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. It is learnt Jagan, who is virtually ruling the Congress politics by proxy, is using all his tactics to armtwist the promoters of these two channels – for the simple reason that he does not want any competition to his proposed TV channel, expected to be launched along with his Telugu daily "Saakshi." He did not even allow the actual brain behind the channel to jump into TV5 and offered her an increased pay packet.
Simultaneously, Jagan used his father's influence and prepared dossiers about the illegal activities of the promoters of the above two channels. He managed to stall licence to TV5 and then, negotiate with the promoter of NTV to defer his plans to launch a news channel. It is learnt Jagan is prevailing upon the promoters of these two channels to confine themselves to mere entertainment channels or religious ones.

The actress, who debuted in Malayalam and is also a top star in Tamil, is well on her way to becoming a sensation in Bollywood now. After all, it’s not every day that Aamir Khan insists he wants a southern heroine in his film!

Talk: "Rajamouli's Has Seen No Success At All"

This may sound meaningless to say that Rajamouli has seen no success so far. He is known for everyone as evergreen director with series of successes in his hand ever since he started his career. Well, that's all restricted only to AP. His films were never successful in USA. All the films in his direction toppled at US box office miserably. The main reason for that is excess of violence in his films and pakka mass formula through out. Family audiences cannot relish his movies if that is the blend.
But can we expect he is going to kick out that jinx and come sout with triumphant success with 'Yamadonga'?
Looking at the flip side, even NTR's films in USA were flops. Only 'Rakhi could do something better.
We have to see how Rajamouli's future will be decided with this film.

Rao needs a dozen heroines for 'Ranga Panduranga'

Director K. Raghavendra Rao is looking for a dozen heroines to star alongside Telugu actor N.T. Balakrishna in his devotional film 'Ranga Panduranga'.
A remake of 'Panduranga Mahatmyam', a yesteryear's hit starring Balakrishna's legendary father, actor-politician N.T. Rama Rao, the film will go on the floors in September.
Sneha, known for her heart-warming smile, is reportedly the favourite for the role of one of the two main heroines.
The names under consideration for the other 10 actresses, who will make guest appearances for 5 to 10 minutes each, include Parvathi Melton. She is known for her roles in 'Madhumasam' and 'Vennela'.
Currently Parvathi is making waves in Kerala for her role in the Malayalam comedy 'Hello', in which she is paired with Mohanlal.

'Partner' is the Hindi film that's released a couple of days ago. It is said that the film is a direct inspiration from Hollywood film 'Hitch' that was released in 2005 with Will Smith in lead role. That was directed by Andy Tennant. The Hindi version 'Partner' is directed by David Dhawan and is starred by Salman Khan in lead role that plays a love doctor.

Star Talk: Karishma Kotak all praise for Chiru

Karishma Kotak who is playing the lead opposite Chiranjeevi in Sankerdada Zindabad is bowled over by her illustrious co-star's humility.

"Having heard about the demi-god status he enjoys in Tollywood, I was very nervous about the prospect of working with someone of his stature,” says Karishma.

The film, directed by Prabhudeva is scheduled to hit the screens on August 25.

"He is a thorough gentleman and it’s my privilege to work with him this early in my career. It was a great learning experience and I am looking forward to the release of the film," she adds.

Screen Buzz: Shriya with Kamal Haasan?

BANGALORE: A recent case filed at the Women’s Helpline has left its employees shocked.
A 53-year-old woman, who has been living with two husbands for 30 years, now intends to leave her first husband after inheriting Rs 2 crore from her deceased aunt only because she doesn’t want to share the property with him.
Lakshmi married Manohar, (names changed to protect identity) who is also her maternal uncle, over 30 years back. Manohar is a retired officer with the Indian Railways.
A few years after marriage, they shifted to Mumbai. It was there, that Lakshmi met Sunil, who was Manohar’s subordinate at work. They fell in love and eloped. She returned to Bangalore leaving Manohar and their son in Mumbai.
According to a source, “Manohar knew about her affair, but said that he was helpless.”
Manohar left everything behind and followed Lakshmi to Bangalore.
According to Manohar, he and Lakshmi compromised and agreed to live along with the second husband.
For the past 30 years, Manohar, Lakshmi, Sunil and their children have all been living under one roof.
But after Lakshmi inherited Rs 2 crore from her aunt, Sunil wanted Manohar to leave the house.
So, Lakshmi approached the Women’s Helpline Centre seeking help to get rid of her first husband. “We told them that we couldn’t help,” the source added.

Producer Ramesh Babu is planning to shoot the climax of Athidhi in Chennai. Murali Sharma is taking part in the shoot. He is a Bollywood actor and is making his debut as Villain in Athidhi.

City Buzz: Greater Hyderabad, greater woes

With the State government delaying the elections to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, officials are busy running the show. This is inviting the wrath of public representatives, particularly local legislators. Hiterto, local legislators used to call the shots with their respective municipalities abutting the city. Now that a Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has been formed, these municipalities have been merged with Hyderabad city. With this development, local legislators have a little say in the functioning of the civic body.
As there's no political supervision, checks and counter checks, officials are allocating funds for development in disproportionate manner. While one erstwhile municipality, LB Nagar to be precise, got Rs 60 crore for development works, Uppal has to make do with just Rs 1.60 crore. The State Assembly on Friday witnessed uproarious scenes over the disproportionate allocation of funds. All the political parties except the ruling Congress and the opposition CPI, expressed their protests and condemned the officials' discretion on fund sanction.
The MIM went a step further and said the government has increased taxes after the formation of GHMC and the greater Hyderabad has opened the flood gates for greater woes.

Prabhudeva had made two straight films and this is his first remake in Telugu. “I chose Prabhudeva because of the poetic feel in the story. After watching his work in Nuvvosthanante Nenoddantana I felt he is the right choice,& said Chiranjeevi at the audio release function at Silpa Kalavedika, a few days ago. By acting in the film he became the first Telugu hero to do a sequel. Karishma Kotak replaces Vidya Balan in this Telugu version of Lage Raho Munnabhai. “She has brought a fresh flavour with her beauty and performance,” complimented Chiranjeevi.

I tuned it to the lyric in one night and sent to the unit which is shooting then in Australia for approval and when they all liked it I recorded the song the next day night. Songs like Jagadeka Veeruniki… Chandamama Kosame, Bhoolokamantha… enthral the audience while they watch them on the big screen.” “Lots of incidents that are happening around us are shown in the film. Hero Balakrishna and director YVS Chowdhary had come down to India after their long stint in USA. They have now resumed their most ambitious film “Okkamagadu”. On Friday (July 20), the shooting began at Ramanaidu Cine Village and it will continue till mid August.

Prem (Salman Khan) takes up the strange profession of self styled 'Love Guru' whose job includes giving tips to men who wants to get hold of the girls of their choice. Bhaskar (Govinda) is a fat employee working as a financial consultant for a multi-billion dollar company. He is in deep love with Priya (Katrina Kaif) company owner’s daughter. Bhaskar approaches Prem for helping him to make Priya fall for him. Naina (Lara Dutta) is a dynamic photo journalist. The rest of the story is all about how Prem convinces Priya for Bhaskar and how he again manages to marry single-mother Naina.

Actors performances
Salman Khan is in his elements as he made sure that there is good comic timing to his work which is extremely essential for the situational humor to work. Govinda manages his portion well with spontaneous reactions though he looks pretty obese. There is good chemistry between Salman Khan and Govinda. Katrina Kaif is alright. Lara Dutta is ok. Rajpal Yadav is nice as 'Chota Don' (kind of spoof on SRK's Don).

Story: The story is heavily inspired by Will Smith's Hollywood flick Hitch. The director lifted story, characterizations and scenes from Hitch. But he added a couple of threads (making heroine as single mother and marriage scene for Katrina). But what David Dhavan missed from Hitch is the strong characterization for heroine and the ego clash between the lead pair. He made the heroines' characters dummy by increasing exposure to heroes and added more comedy quotient. He leaves out the intelligence aspect in hero's characterization.

Screenplay - direction: Screenplay of the film is adequate. The direction is of typical David Dhawan style. You have to leave your thinking caps outside the theater while watching this film. The way he opened the film with animation story of the main lead is pretty creative. The concept of title cards is also good. He generates a good time-pass humor. But he could not establish and resolve the conflict part of the film is a good way.

Other departments: Dialogues by Sanjay Chhel deserve an applause.. Music by Sajid & Wajid is good. Color grading is nice. Editing is adequate. Production values are of good standard.

Analysis: First half of the film is good. Second half is alright. The director could not handle the resolving of misunderstandings in second half in a convincing way. But he makes up for it by creating hilarious scenes in extended climax of the honeymoon. On a while, Partner is a decent comedy flick and a poor copy of 'Hitch' and I repeat, only if you leave your thinking caps outside.

Katrina does not have much to do except smile.

Lara Dutta, who plays a reporter, clicks more pictures than writing stories. One wonders if she is a reporter or a photographer. Her chemistry with Salman is great, however, and it's time she gets her due like her contemporary, Priyanka Chopra.

A still from PartnerAmong the film's low points is Rajpal Yadav's character, Chotta Don. It is an imitation of Shah Rukh Khan's Don. Later in the film, Yadav's character just disappears.

Also, the film's end is very abrupt.

But despite the shortcomings, you will not feel disappointed because you will have had a good laugh through most of the film. A must watch.

Screen Buzz: Vulgar Comedy Of Ravi Babu!

Ravi Babu is the son of Chalapathi Rao and he boasted that his father has seniority in doing rapes on screen and hence taught him how to rape whiel acting in first rape scene in the film 'Sivayya'. That is the point to boast about a father by his son. This shows that Ravi Babu has vulgar mind set which he feels quite normal and acceptable.
He made the films 'Allari' and 'Ammayilu Abbaiyilu' that run on soft porn jokes here and there. Indeed, Allari is the best among his films. He made 'Soggadu' and 'Party' those toppled miserably.
Now he is making two films. One is on the lines of Hindi film 'Metro' with Nikitha and the other is 'Anasuya' on the lines of 'Page 3' with Bhoomika. Will he stick on to his vulgar comedy even in tehse films? Observers say 'Yes'. He made the script with a few elements those attract adults.
Indeed, that should be a unique treat from him.

ZEE TV has become the lion in bagging satellite rights by competing with MAA and Gemini channels.
Pokiri was sold out to MAA at Rs 1.08 Cr.
ZEE TV bagged Sainikidu, Annavaram, Munna at Rs 1.3 Cr each. AMAV was sold at whopping 1.4 Cr. And Dubai Seenu was gone at Rs 1.1 Cr.
Last year MAA TV bagged Chiranjeevi's Stalin at Rs 1.5 Cr. Now freshly the same MAA TV bagged the satellite rights of 'Yamadonga' at Rs 1.75 Cr as per the sources.
Fresh news says that Jagapathi Babu's films are also getting huge rate of Rs 1 Cr and above for satellite rights.

Screen Talk: Kamna loves to work with Raja

Kamna Jethmalani was happy about the way she got the response from the audience to her role in the recently released Toss.

“I was stunned and surprised when I watch the film with the audience. They all enjoyed my comedy and even clapped at some scenes,” she said at the success meet of the film. She added that she loved to work with the same unit again, especially her co-star Raja.

“He is a good human being with a sense of humour. It has always been fun on the sets when I worked with him,” she said. Now, she is looking forward to the release of Yamadonga, where she is featured in an item song.

Jonnavithula's Advises For Balakrishna

Jonnaviththula Ramalingeswara Rao is known as film lyricist for many. He is also known as great scholar who has command over Telugu and Sanskrit, among literary circles. But he has got another phase now.
He is almost acting as 'Mahamanthri' and 'Raja Purohitha' for Balakrishna. After the split with Astrologer Satyanarayana Choudhary in the 'shooting episode', it is said that Balakrishna made Jonnaviththula close to him. He also knows Astrology to some extent and advises Balayya on those matters.

Gossip says that Posani Krishna Murali is seriously trying to impress Chandrababu Naidu in all the possible ways. He believes that TDP comes to power in coming elections and wishes to take at least a little cake before that.

It is said that the close friends of Posani encouraged him to get the MLA ticket and contest in coming elections from TDP. Hence he is making the film 'Apada Mokkula Vaadu' in which he is going to blast Congress and its rule directly in some scenes and indirectly in other scenes as per the gossip. Even in 'Operation Duryodhana' he chanted 'Samaikyandhra vaadam', with which TDP makes its move.

'Toss' At Loss and 'Laksyam' Reaching Target

The film 'Toss' that was released in the direction of Priyadrashini Ram with Upendra and Raja in lead roles is not bagging the collections tantamount to the hype created to it. The film bagged good openings in all the centers including A,B,C. About 75 to 80 percent of collections are done with this film. It is the film in which Upendra acted after a very long time. But the narration in story and fast paced editing spoiled the tempo of the film.

'Lakshyam' that was released before last week is standing still at the box office crossing the 'average' talk in first week. It is making good collections and making producers happy.

Sivaji is still sustaining in many centers and the audiences are seen in about 40 percent in theaters of 'Dubai Seenu'.
'Satyabhama' released in the combination of Bhoomika and Sivaji toppled at the box office. Its condition is still worse in B, C centers.

Snippet: Kannada TV channel on Chiru's hand!

Karnataka Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy's wife Anita's Kannada TV channel "Kasturi" will be launched in a big way on August 18. Bollywood's actor Amitabh Bachchan and Mega Star Chiranjeevi are among the invitees.

"The function, to be held at the Bangalore Palace grounds, will be one of the most talked-about event in recent times. A cultural troupe from Australia will perform a dance set to Kannada music. Over a lakh are going to attend the launch," Kumaraswamy told media on Thursday.

The channel, which will have news and entertainment programmes, will officially begin to function from August 27. "We have tied up with a New Delhi-based English news channel. It will not be a JD(S) channel," the CM stated. Taking pride that Kasturi will be the first Kannada channel to be started by a Kannadiga, Kumaraswamy said the idea was conceived by him in 1995, when he was into film production.

Even the 'Aasha' and other Aids campaigns are saying the same-'Use Helmet'. The campaign itself is a big sex education for children as well.
Sexologists like Dr G Samaram say, "Sex is a wonderful experience in human life. But many are not enjoying it due to ignorance. Sex education helps the married couples bond together for ever".
To sum up, sexology in India and Indian schools is still a debatable issue.

Puri Jagannath made the film 'Andhrawala' long back that toppled at box office. The main reason for its failure is that NTR portrayed dual role in which one is father's character. Audiences couldn't be able to digest that.

Multi-star films are common in Bollywood but far from reality in today's Tollywood. Although there were such films in later 70s, the trend of single hero worship in single film has come inti existence. When asked about the same, Chiranjeevi once said that multi star films will be very expensive to make. When asked Chiranjeevi about his combination with Pawan Kalyan, he said that Pawan is also a star and he has to paid up to his level and the budget grows up heavily. Yuva Samrat Nagarjuna to become “Don” in 2007

Director-star duo Lawrence and Yuva Samrat Nagarjuna pair up again for 2007 megafilm Don. The film, produced by ML Kumar Choudary on the Sri Keerthi Creations banner, will be released in September by distributor Kosmic Films. Kosmic Films, which is also distributing and marketing the blockbuster Shankar Dada Zindabad! starring Mega Star Padma Bhushan Dr. Chiranjeevi, will be handling cinema and DVD release in all worldwide markets outside of India.

Lawrence and Nagarjuna collaborated previously on the hit film Mass, and return to work together here on a new Don film. The film features a novel plot and is unrelated to the 2006 Bollywood film Don starring Shahrukh Khan. On top of directing, Lawrence plays a supporting acting role as the brother of Don, and additionally is featured as music director. Don promises comedic dialogue and strong writing in addition to its star-studded cast, which includes Anushka and Priyamani as the female leads.

Kosmic Films will be bringing the film to all markets outside of India, with full rights to both cinema and DVD distribution. Trade Buzz: ‘Mega Dad(a)’ and ‘Mega Son’ Priced Mega!

Two mega films from Mega Star's family are now releasing at a reasonable interval between the two. While 'Shankardada Zindabad' is releasing on 25 th of July, 'Chirutha' is tentatively releasing in September. The date was announced earlier that Chirutha will be hitting the screen on September 22nd, the release date of Chiranjeevi's first film 'Pranam Khareedhu'.

Fresh gossip says that the overseas distribution rights for the film Shankardada Zindabad were sold out for around Rs 1.60 Crore while 'Chirutha' has gone for around Rs 1.50 Cr.
The rights of 'Chirutha' were sold out in Andhra Pradesh at an approximate price of Rs 27 Crore as per the grapevine, where in some areas it overtook Chiranjeevi's 'Sankardada Zindabad' as well.
Coming to the film 'Athidhi', the entire distribution rights were sold out for UTV at a price around Rs 23 Cr. Initially, producer Ramesh Babu sold the distribution rights of the film in some areas. Now he paid back that amount to those distributors of those specified regions as he signed an agreement with UTV.
The unofficial sources say that the overseas rights of 'Yamadonga' were sold at a sum around Rs 65 lakhs.
That's about the apparent business figures of the newly releasing films.

Will Sukumar Keep His Promise To Prabhas?

Director Sukumar is all set to make a film with Prabhas. The producer had paid him advance much before the making of the film 'Jagadam'.

At that time another three producers also lined up behind Suumar with an idea to make one film each. But they didn't pay anything to him in advance. After looking at the result of 'Jagadam', they have dropped the idea of making films with him.

But the proposed film with Prabhas has been intact till date because of the advance payment. Sukumar has scared all most all the producers in the industry by consuming more days for completing a film. It took 287 days for him to finish off the production of the film. Though he estimated the cost of the film for Rs.4Crores, it went up to 14 Crores.

Buzz: Kamal rescues Suriya from Asin!

These days Asin is following a tight schedule. She is shuttling between Mumbai and Chennai, shooting for the Hindi version of the film Ghajini with Aamir Khan and Tamil films Dasavadharam with Kamal Haasan and Vel with Suriya. Recently Asin, Kamal and Suriya caught up at a function in Chennai. Reportedly, as the trio was chatting, a common friend and a fan of Asin joined in and asked Suriya that while the actor plays a dual role in Vel, why was Asin appearing only in a single role?

A bit embarrassed, Suriya grinned while thinking of a reply. But Kamal was quick to react and came to the actor’s rescue. "Hey, I am doing 10 roles in Dasavadharam. But I have Asin as my partner in only one of those roles. So I don’t think it is fair to ask Suriya, who is just playing dual roles to have Asin as his partner for both. I am sure Suriya isn’t that greedy," he remarked with a touch of humour.
