Kaikala Pins Hopes On His Own Sentiment

Kaikala Satyanarayana is now pinning on his own sentiment saying that the films 'Yama Gola', 'Yama leela and 'Yamudiki Mogudu' turned super hits and now the film 'Yamagola Mallee Modalayyindi' also turns a hit with his presence. He expressed this sentimental wish in the fresh press meet.

Kaikala Satyanarayana is now suffering from voice problem as that is coming out with lot of effort and losing in clarity as well at many times. However, the makers of 'YGMM' managed with his voice and the film is being made in brisk pace and heading towards completion. Srikanth, Meera Jasmine, Venu and Reema Sen are acting in this film. Srikanth is playing the role of son of Yama in this film.

Gossip: R.Naryanamurthy Defends Remaining Bachelor!

One can guess what would be the point of discussion, when a widower and a bachelor meet together. It could be certainly on woman.

Chalapathi Rao, a widower, is quick to open the debate 'Don't you need a woman?' he asked R.Narayana Murthy, a bachelor.

"I too can pose the same question to you" Murthy quipped.

'My case is different. I had my wife but she died. I've children too. Do you have children any where?' Rao crossed his limits.

Murthy was indignant and turned philosophical.

'All the poor orphans in the country are my children… I live for them and I die for them.', he exhibited his customized histrionics, which we shows in his film.

'First learn to live for their mothers', Rao concluded with his inimitable blunt humor.

Shahrukh: 'I am the last superstar of India'

Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan apparently thinks that there will be no actor to match his superstar status in the Indian film industry after him.

Khan, dubbed ‘the King of Bollywood,’ recently said that he is the last "superstar" of Bollywood.

Khan insisted that the superstar breed was increasingly being wiped out because of the recent changes in the entertainment industry.

"The entertainment industry is changing rapidly, with the growth of satellite channels and multiplexes,” Timesonline quoted him, as saying.

“Soon there will not be any superstars. I would like to believe that I am the last superstar of India,” he added. (ANI)

Director Wished Good But That Turned Bad

Kamalini Mukherjee is unpredictable for many and a serious beauty in the view perspective of some. It is very hard to assess her mind set and perception. She was roped in for a role to play in a Tamil film of Cheran (Tamil 'Autograph' fame). But she dropped from that project later on. When asked, the director said that Kamalini dropped due to dates' problem. But the actual fact is that Kamalini didn't like the script and suggested changes. The director couldn't alter on her request. That made Kamalini unsatisfied and she dropped.

But instead of saying all this, the director said, "Kamalini dropped due to dates problems and she is busy with other projects".
This made Kamalini angry and expressed her grief stating that the director of that film is giving wrong impressions to other producers that she is too busy to attend calls due to busy schedules. She worries that this impression may miss many chances for her. She knows that she s free and awaiting calls from producers.
The director said this with good motive of raising the demand of Kamalini. But Kamalini understood other way round.

First half of the film is excellent and is totally entertaining. The second half is good, and has less entertainment towards climax as emotions had to catch up. The plus points of the film are Chiranjeevi's all-round performance, PRABUDEVS handling of emotional scenes, nice storyline, music and comedy. In emotional films, we find less entertainment. In entertaining films, we find less emotion. Here is one film that is blended with both emotion and entertainment in a wonderful way. And this film has something to offer to every cross-section of audiences. 'Shankardada MBBS' is a universal film that would appeal to both classes and masses.

Shankar Dada Zindabad is releasing in a record number of 36 theaters this week in USA. This is a record for any Telugu cinema. The prints have already reached USA. The exhibitors from all areas are gearing up for premiere shows on the evening of 26 July by hiking the admission rates. SDZ is also gets the credit of being the first Telugu film to release in Canada simultaneously.

Handsome Nagarjuna is doing a guest role after a long time. According to media reports, Nagarjuna has accepted to play a key role in Vishnu's new film. Nag also acted in Vishnu's father's film "Adhipathi" long back. He is acting again on the persistence of Mohan Babu who is a brother like to him.

Ranga Panduranga from October

Balakrishna and director K. Raghavendra Rao's Ranga Panduranga will begin shooting in October. Earlier the film was planned from August but due to some reasons, its shooting is postponed. Perhaps, Balakrishna wants to spend his quality time with his family members next month as his daughter Brahmini's marriage is to take place on August 26 th.

Releasing Today: Shankardada is back

Chiranjeevi as the lovable Shankardada is back in “Shankardada Zindabad,” directed by Prabhudeva. A remake of “Lage Raho Munnabhai,” “Shankardada Zindabad” is the most anticipated Tollywood biggie of 2007. The film , produced by Gemini Film Circuits, opens with a record number of prints worldwide on Friday. Kashmira Kotak plays the vibrant Radio Jockey; Dilip Prabhavalkar dons the role of Mahatma Gandhi; and Srikanth plays the hero’s wacky friend. The highlight is a dance sequence canned on Chiranjeevi’s brother Pawan Kalyan who makes a cameo appearance. The music is by Devi Sri Prasad.

Interestingly, some of Chiranjeevi's family members including brothers Pawan Kalyan and Nagendra Babu and son-in-law Allu Arjun will have a guest appearances in the film along with other Raviteja.

A visibly excited Chiranjeevi says he is sure that the remake will have the same impact as the Hindi original.

“You will become religious after watching the movie, as you will be under the Gandhi effect,” Chiranjeevi said.

Directed by Prabhudeva, Shankardada Zindabad is releasing in as many as 47 theaters in Hyderabad including Prasad's Imax which will screen 20 shows for the first three days after it's release.

In USA, Shankardada Zindabad is releasing today with 17 prints and 30 centers.

Director Bhanu Vijay said, “This is my debut film as director. Though it’s a small budget film, the audio is rich. Naveen gave wonderful music. There are five songs in this film.”

Nandini's father blames it on Allu Aravind!

Film hero Pawan Kalyan's bigamy episode is taking as many twists and turns as that of a typical Telugu film.
Reacting sharply to Pawan Kalyan's allegations against his wife Nandini, her father Rakurthi Chakradhara Rao said he would come up with more evidence as the case against his son-in-law after commencement of the trial. The divorce case filed by Pawan Kalyanm, two months after his daughter filed a case, showed the character of the popular actor. Pawan stooped to a low level and made several baseless allegations against his daughter in order to get a divorce and to cover up his own misdeeds.
Rao blamed it on Megastar Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law Allu Aravind for sabotating the marriage beween Pawan Kalyan and Nandini. Aravind allegedly threatened him not to approach the court and offered to send Renu Desai for a compromise. He also pointed out that Nandini was subjected to torture by a woman member of Pawan Kalyan family. Since his family was conservative, Nandini never exposed the brutal characters of Pawan family to the outside world, he said.

Telugu Movie Ticket Prices in USA by Chaitanya

In the last few years in USA, we have seen most of the merchandise that we use daily going up year by year, like gas price going up from less than a dollar from few years back to now 3 plus dollars and many items similarly. But Telugu Movie ticket prices were stand still at $10, until recent times, which was affordable for every Telugu Movie lover. Now with the increase in gas prices, shipping charges, Theater rentals and fall of dollar value we definitely need hike in ticket prices. But how much hike is needed?
As an exhibitor I would say bringing it up by few bucks like say $12-13 for the increased costs would make sense. And if the movie is being screened in top quality theaters like AMC/Cinemark, $15 would be pretty much it in the process of providing quality. But unfortunately, for a "Mega" movie that is releasing, tickets were priced at more than $20 at many centers. And the reason told by those exhibitors is hike is shipping prices and fall of dollar value which is not at all convincing. Shipping did not increase to double nor dollar value did not fall to half all of the sudden. But the truth is that the exhibitors paid huge amounts as screening rights to the distributor and the distributor to producer. Finally this burden is being levied on the common man. And the final laughs are for Telugu Movie producer who is ultimate beneficiary, not the exhibitor or distributor. These kinds of decisions are taking Telugu Movies away from common man and there by increasing piracy.
There are no laws in US that can restrict the ticket prices, like in India. But it will be the people who have to judge and decide if its worth to watch the movie paying such heavy prices or boycott watching the movie so that the concerned people will learn lesson and not repeat these cheap tricks again. My request to every exhibitor is "Telugu Movie is taking lions share in entertaining thousands of telugu people abroad who are missing their culture and mother land. Please don’t take this away from them. Getting Telugu Movie screening rights in US is not great, but presenting it in Quality theaters and in affordable price, is what you will be appreciated for."

Screen Talk: Abhi-Ash inspire film theme!

Filmmaker Satya Prakash Mangtani, who is inspired by the Bachchan family, is all set to make a film based on the Abhi-Ash saga titled Kuch Na Kuch To Baat Hai. The film will revolve around real life characters based on Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Viveik Oberoi. The small budget film will star South actor Manie cast in the role of Abhishek. The heroine to play the role of Aishwarya is yet to be confirmed. “We are looking for a girl who has a close resemblance to Ash,” says writer-director Kumar Mangtani. The film will go on floors in September with a start-finish-schedule.

When asked what if the Bachchans raise an objection, the director says, “I have not projected the family in a cheap manner. I want to convey to the audience that one should not accept manglik or non-manglik beliefs. I have already written to Amitabh, asking for his permission, and am ready to show him the script before it goes on floors.” “In no way have I tried to tarnish their image. I have also created an element of suspense at the end of the film. Five songs for the film have already been recorded,” shares Kumar.

It is reliably learnt that Telugu film star Allu Arjun is roped in as the brand ambassador for Pepsi. Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan were the first film stars to be roped into to promote Thums Up and Pepsi respectively in AP. Now Mahesh Babu is the brand ambassador of Thums Up. It were state level dealers of the cola companies that selected Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan. This time around the cola companies directly approached the stars.

Madan to direct Uday Kiran

Madan who provided story to Aa Naluguru and directed his first film Pellaina Kothalo recently is going to direct another film too. This film is expected to have Uday Kiran doing the main leads. Madan will also produce this film on his banner ‘Aa Naluguru films‘.

Doctorate to Veturi

Veteran lyricist Veturi Sundara Rama Murthy will be presented with the honorary doctorate on August 3 in 23rd convocation by Acharya Nagarjuna University. Veturi penned over 10,000 songs so far. He also worked as journalist for prominent magazines like Andhra Patrika and Andhra Prabha. Katti Padma Rao and Vadlamani Venkata Subramanya Ravi would also be honored with doctorate on the same day.

"Manisharma has proved time and time again that his musical events are quite unlike those featuring other composers or singers," says Jagadish Prabhala whose JP Entertainment is hosting the Columbus show along with Saibaba Society of Ohio on July 20. "His music has as much appeal as that of any big Tollywood star studded event." "It has been a very busy year. Yet I thought of the concert tour for many reasons," the composer says. He also loves being with his singers off the recording studio but doesn't get many opportunities to do so in India. "It is a different feeling when you work with them for a stage show," he explains. "The challenges are different, and we come alive even more than when we are in a recording studio. The friendship also grows."
Manisharma's biggest challenge, however, is not assembling first-rate artists or having the best acoustics at each venue. "There are fans who have long memories," he says. "And there are fans who love the recent songs. Now, I would have a good mix of the old and new. Even then it is not easy to choose one beautiful song over another." The show in Columbus was orgainzed by Saibaba temple society of Ohio as a fund raising event for construction of Saimandir. The Society has purchased 7.7 acres of ground on Lewis Centre Road for construction of permanent Sai mandir. Architectural plans are being prepared. Temple Committee has invited generous contributions from all over the USA.

Saibaba Temple society of Ohio presented yet another great musical evening. Olentangy high school auditorium was filled with overflowing capacity of 700+ audience who were taken to grandiose musical heights by the excellent music, lighting, sound effects and mimicry by Sri Harikishen.Cinestar Laya was the guest of honor for the music show.

The Auditorium was packed with 700 music lovers and show started with wonderful introduction by Harikishen. He introduced Manisharma and his technicians to the cheering crowd.Sai and Karthik on drums, Chinna, Saagar on keyboard, Raghava on sound mixing and Vinod on guitar enthralled the audience with their coordination.Music lovers were captivated with the Sound provided by Jordam Music.The program started sharp at 7:00 pm and ended at 10:45 pm.

The D-Day has come. The long wait of Chiru's fans has come to an end. The film 'Shankardada Zindabad' is hitting the theaters tomorrow in about 350 centers. The advance bookings of the tickets are over in many theaters. Although there is no media hype about this film, the fans have thronged for tickets in a few theaters.
On the other hand the black marketers are also venturing in big way in taking these tickets and selling, looking at the suddenly found demand. A big queue of about 100 mts is found at Prasad's Multiplex and other theatres. All the tickets for all four shows for 4 days were already booked.
The official black market price per ticket is between Rs 250 and Rs 600.

Victory Venkatesh Wishing For 'Kireedom'

Till yesterday there is a gossip that Rajasekhar is bagging the rights of Kireedom. But now that is declared to be ruled out idea. The fresh grapevine from reliable sources is that Victory Venkatesh is showing interest on the film after watching it.

Even earlier Venkatesh acted in the remake of Tamil film 'KAKKA KAKKA' with the title 'Gharashana' in Telugu. He likes to act in remake films and the history has proved that his remake films, be they from Tamil and Malayalam turned hits.

Mani's 'Dubai Seenu' rules Telugu audio market again

Veteran composer Mani Sharma is flying high as his album 'Dubai Seenu' stages a comeback and tops the list.

The top Telugu albums are:

1. 'Dubai Seenu' - Popular numbers 'Kol kol' and 'Kanya raasi' are making waves again. Mani Sharma, known for his people-friendly 'masala' tunes, appears to have done a great job with the rhythm and Western beats for the album.

2. 'Satyabhama' - Post 'Desamudru', composer Chakri has made yet another winner. The music underlines the woman-centred theme of the film. 'Pyar karo' and 'Gundelona' are nice numbers.

3. 'Sivaji - the Boss' - After all, A.R. Rahman is A.R. Rahman. The music of 'Sivaji' grows on you, especially after watching the film and will retain its place in the top albums list for some more time.

4. 'Munna' - Engaging tunes composed by Harris Jayaraj are keeping the album in the list. 'Kadulu' in particular is a song that is likely to hold listeners' interest despite the film's disappointing performance at the box office.

5. 'Aadavari Matalaku Atthale Verule' - Yuvan Shankar Raja's music in the film could be classified as 'easy listening'. That is why the album remains on the list despite no particular outstanding rhythm.

'Lakshyam' beats 'Sivaji' to take top spot

The film got an overwhelming response at the ticket window and pushed Rajnikant-starrer 'Sivaji - the Boss' one notch down. It is enjoying the top position this fortnight and may rule the charts for sometime.

The top five Telugu films are:

1. 'Lakshyam' - A revenge drama complete with the trademark smirk and imposing physique of Gopichand, the film has become an instant hit with the audience. Land disputes, cops and journalists appear to have touched a chord with the masses.

2. 'Sivaji' - Still running to packed audiences, the success of 'Sivaji' at the box office appears unending. The viewership has now shifted to moviegoers who have watched the movie more than once. One can attribute its success to superstar Rajnikant, who has the knack to turn the ordinary into extraordinary. A fall in the list for this film, therefore, does not signify anything more than the film industry's rising production values.

3. 'Dubai Seenu' - The film moves up the list this week, with fans appreciating actor Ravi Teja who is back in form. A crowd-puller directed towards youth, the film about a young man who yearns to become rich strikes a chord with the viewers. Well-crafted action scenes and good music by Mani Sharma have helped the film chart its upward move.

4. 'Satyabhama' - Not very unlike 'Ghazni' minus the violence, the film is like a page out of Salvador Dali's surrealistic paintings. The mush interspersed with comic relief has proved to be a crowd-puller for some time now and appears to continue entertaining the lovelorn audiences.

5. 'Toss' - Priyadarshini Ram's 'Toss' has bagged the fifth spot this fortnight. Though the film boasts of an interesting plot, there is little to hold the audience's attention. Radical changes in cinematography and a new avatar for Raja do not appear to have gone down well with the masses. The movie may be well on its way out.

Gossip: Priyamani and Anushka Blame Each Other!
